I see you as you look at me,

tiny raindrops creating polka dots all over you.

Your blue shirt changing into one shade darker.

Your eyes change color too.

They are black usually, but now

They turn amber with passion.

May be I am mistaken, nothing but

The last rays of the sun playing tricks.

Your gaze shifts from my face,

to a careless lock that hangs valiantly over my face.

Few raindrops have soaked it in the hope of finding the river,

But now they are lost and slip down towards the ridge of my chin.

I blush as you trace them with your eyes.

You come forward closing the distance between us by miles,

And my heart speeds, train wheels on tracks.

Our eyes meet and our hands speak

Tangling slender fingers with thick ones,

My smaller palm sheltering inside the fold of your bigger palm,

a lonely bird finding its home.

Electricity flows as our shoulders touch.

Our lips could have told another story.

But for now, the rain starts to sing,

Falling with unabashed freedom,

teasing us and the trees.

We giggle as the rain washes us,

The trees do better; their leaves dance to the passionate song,

that only the rain knows.

Houses drench speechless, streets careless, drains refusing to restrain.

The rain dances, its song an enigma

Washing along our hesitations and longings,

washing along a mouthful of thirst,

washing along a handful of earth.
