Shadeleaf slid into the clearing a happy feeling in his chest, today was the day. The day that he would go and bring his mate and kits home. Shadeleaf strided up to Deerstar, who looked at him confused."What is it Shadeleaf?"He asked, the clan gathered around them eager to hear what Shadeleaf had to say.

       Shadeleaf took a deep breath."I am going to Riverclan to bring my mate and kits home,"At his words the clan balked and hissed, Deerstar flattened his ears hate filling his green eyes."What?!"He snarled, Shadeleaf felt his pelt prick with worry."Yes, I'm bringing Birdtail home with our kits."He mewed the fear in voice rising, the clan started to yowl at him"Traitor!"

Shadeleaf looked despratly at his clan this was not supposed to happen he was going to bring his family home. Deerstar stood strait and yowled"Get out!You are no longer a warrior of Thunderclan!"Shadeleafs heart sunk and he slid his claws into the ground.

"I was going to give the clan kits, a new set of warriors!"He looked up at Deerstar in hate and shock."Am I not a loyal to this clan!I have given my whole life to this clan, and what do you do to repay me?"

      Shadeleaf felt rage fill him like fire that sweping across his body, his teeth curling over his sharp teeth."You send me out of the clan!You will pay for this!I swear that all of your kin will Deerstar!That is my last promise to you!"

Then he turned and stalked out of the clearing, ignoring the calls after him and he made his way to the river. Shadeleaf let out a breath, and pushed down the feeling of guilt and sadness, the urge to turn around and beg for his clans forgiveness. No I'm going to see my family he told him self and crossed the river and meet a border patrol. Frogface was at the front confusion filled her green eyes.

"Shadeleaf, what are you doing here?"She asked a small flicker of joy in her eyes, her clanmates flatended their ears and swished their tails."I come to see Birdtail."He said, at her name the Rivlerclan cats got a sad look in their eyes.

"Follow us."One tom said, Shadeleaf felt his stomach drop and he followed the patrol into the camp.When he entered all of the Riverclan cats looked up form something in the middle of the clearing, Shadeleaf took a step back in fear when he saw what they all where gathered around it was Birdtails bloody body.

Shadeleaf ran to the body shoving Swampstar out of the way."Nooo!"He shrieked and lay down next to his mate's dead body, pressing his nose into her side."Why?...Why my mate?"He mewed, the Riverlcan cats gasped, Swampstar eyes filled with hate, his tail rising above his back."What?!"Shadeleaf turned and looked at Frogface who was standing next to her father horror in her eyes.

"What happened to her?!"Shadeleaf crooked, his heart thruming. Swampstar took a step toward him."She died giving birth to your kits."He snarled reveling yellow teeth, Shadeleaf looked at him in sadness then he rested his gaze on his mates dead body."Where are my kits?"He said in a low voice. Swamostar's eyes filled with greef,"She died before they came out. Their dead inside her."Mewed his voice caught in his throat. Shadeleaf looked down at his mates blood covered body as it was carried away to be berried, his heart going with her.

"Now get out."Swampstar snarled standing next to his den, Shadeleaf looked up at him."But I have no were to go,"He looked around at Riverlcan cats hoping that one of them would help him."Please let me stay."He begged but everyone looked away, Swampstar took a step forward."Now get out!"

Shadeleaf sighed and turned to leave when Frogface  slid to his side her green eyes filled with sadness, but love still lingered there."Wait,"She said turning both of them to face her father."Father, I take Shadeleaf as my mate,"She mewed, Shadeleaf looked at her in shock."And for him to be my mate he must live in Riverclan."Swampstar looked at his last daughter in amazement. Frogface stood tall next to Shadeleaf her thick tail resting on his.

"Fine, but he must prove he is loyal to this clan."Swamstar growled and slid into his den, leaving Shadeleaf and the clan in shock.Frogface pressed into Shadeleaf's side resting her head under his head closing her green eyes, Shadeleaf stood there his ears flipped to the back of his head, his tail resting under Frogface's. Then Frogface led him to her den Shadeleaf followed her quickly and into a space inside a thick bunch of willows.

Frogface curled up in her nest leaving room for him, Shadeleaf curled up around her looking around, his fur seeping in the cold of the ground beneath him."We'll go get more moss for our nest tomorrow and I can show you the terrtory."She said, looking up into his eyes resent and longing filling her eyes.

"Thank you,"He mewed, his heart filling with sadness."I owe you."He said, but Frogface slid her ears back."You'll have to prove that you'll loyal to me, and not another she-cat."She snarled, hate filling her eyes for a moment.Then she sighed"I'm sorry, you've just lost a mate, and I get how your felling,"Shadeleaf lay his head agents her soft chest sorrow filling him."Birdtail wasn't just my sister, she was my friend since we were just kits.So I get what you are felling, Good night Shadeleaf."
