I sprint down the mountain and stop behind some rocks, and I can clearly see that Melody is nervously glancing at Knuckles. Just great. As I am about to come out of my hinding spot I feel something tap me on the shoulder. I spin around and see that it was only Rouge.

"I'm going back, I want to stay out of this, see you Shadow." She says and fly's away.

Some help she was. Oh well, Knuckles is only getting closer to her and I don't like it, she's getting really nervous and I need to get in there. I run over so fast you can only see me as a black streak. I stop and stand in front of her in a protective stance, while she seems to be getting the Chaos emerald that we found yesterday on our way here out of her jeans pocket. We also found what she called a Sol emerald too, but I didn't let her pick it up since I felt that we needed to pick up the pace.

"Shadow! I thought you were with Eggman." Chris tells me. I see everyone jump an inch off the ground when I growl at Eggman's name.

"Why would I be with that traitor?" I snarl, thinking back to when he betrayed me. I hate him now, I want him to suffer. Everyone is super confused, I can tell by the looks in their eyes as I scan over them. They are all staring at me.

"Calm down Shadow, once I give them the Chaos emerald, the direction of where I sense the Sol emerald and grab my stuff we can leave." Melody tells me. She pulls the emerald out of her pocket and throws it to them, the emerald landing in the sand in front of them. "I sense that the Sol emerald is over there." She points west from where we current are. "Whether you believe me or not it's up to you." She tells them, then turns around and walks over to the hut to get her stuff.

I decided not to follow, I want to warn them not to hurt her and that's exactly what I am going to do. Once Melody is at the hut I let them hear my warning, and they better hear this, I'm not saying it twice. "This is your only warning, if you hurt her I will personally punish you." With that said I zoom away in a streak of black and a dust trail forming behind me. As I'm running to keep up with Melody, I hear Amy say something that catches my attention.

"Does Shadow LIKE her?"

When we get home both me and Melody decide to go off on our own. The run home toke us awhile, so now the sun is going down. I stand on the edge of a nearby cliff and look around. Beneath me is a jungle, the thick trees twisting into each other, their vines dancing slowly in the cool, light breeze. I look to my right and see Melody standing on the edge as well, which made me nervous.

"Whatcha doing out here Shadow?" Rouge asks me, coming from behind. I knew she was there, due to my highly trained senses.

"I was just thinking to myself, when I saw Melody over there. It doesn't make me to confident that she's not going to fall with how close to the edge she is." I tell Rouge, pointing over at Melody. Now looking better I realize something, her mouth is opening and closing, like she's singing.

"Na, she's fine, Shadow your such a worry wart it's not like she's gonna..." Melody suddenly jumps off the edge, her arms stretched straight out to her sides. We gasp as she fly's through the sky off into the distance, it's like she's trying to fly to the clouds. We just sort of stand there, in complete silence, completely confused. Once I get out of my daze I run into the house and see that we were standing there for 10 minutes. I start to panic.

"Rouge fly around and look for her, NOW." I yell to her before running out and starting my sprint around the jungle below, since that's where she would fall. After a half an hour of searching, Melody's voice comes up on the ear piece.

"Hey, guys where are you? I don't appreciate you guys running off without telling me." You would think that I am angry at her, but I'm not, I'm just glad she's OK. Rouge on the other hand, was not pleased.

"Where did you go! We saw you jump off the ledge and have been searching for you for half an hour!" Rouge stomps and stares at her.

"I'm sorry, its not often I get to see my family, so until I'm with my brother I can visit them in the sky, but I forgot to tell you about that. I'm so sorry." She tells us with her head down. I tell her that it's OK. Rouge still seems upset but mutters that she forgives Melody. "Ok I'm going to bed now, night guys."

"Night Melody. I think I'm gonna hit the hay too." Rouge says and she walks into the house. Turns to go to but I grab her hand. She turns around and I grab her other hand too, now we are facing each other and she is blushing. She look cute like this but I want more.

"Is there anyway you can turn into your true form whenever you want to?" I ask her staring into her eyes. Those beautiful eyes that haunted me for so long. She nods, then transforms and her height changes. She is now shorter then me, but not by much. She comes up to my nose so she has to look up to look at me. Perfect. I bring her in for a kiss.

Yes, a kiss. I have realized that I loved her, and I wanted her this way, forever. After a minute of this long engaging kiss she gently pushes me back and I can tell that she is surprised by this. "Shadow. I... I"

"Its ok, if you don't feel the same way I won't force you into a relationship, but you need to know this. Since you got injured back on our first mission I have realized how much I care about you. I want you with me forever. I never want to let you go. I... I love you." I finish and look up to her face and what she says, surprises me, but is words that will echo through my mind forever like a sound wave bouncing off the walls of a maze with no exit.

"Shadow, I love you too."

Me: YES!! I know I am the one writing this but MY FAVORITE SHIP IS SAILING!!
Rouge: Did I miss something?
Me: Yup, but I'm not saying anything! :)
Rouge: I wonder if it has something to do with Melody and Shadow, they came back way to happy for it to be a normal conversation that they had outside.
