A/N: Hi, so since majority of the chapters are on Issy's pov, I decided to keep the book on just one pov. Any chapter with a different pov would be a bonus chapter. Okay, that's all now- enjoy.

Chapter 36
I have on a dark blue dress shirt and is deliberately matching with Darcy's flowing blue gown (everybody's else's choice but mine). Darcy does look really pretty, her hair was made in a princess style updo with little locks falling around her face. She had really light make-up on and her gown was strapless but of course she wore a coat over it. Doesn't stop her from looking pretty though, although I'd rather have Sky on my arm.
Sky is another thing entirely, we were all dressed up, Jamal and I in blue but he has a white dress shirt instead. He looks so good, I can barely take my eyes off him. His hair is the most styled I have ever seen and I honestly haven't seen a guy who looked better in a suit.
"Finally, you both are out," Jamal exclaims, raising his head up to the heavens. "I thought you'd..." He trails off and I see his wide eyes glued on Darcy. "Darcy Magdalene?"
"Jamal Cole, I swear if you--"
"Whoa, it's really you," he comes closer and pries her hand off me making her spin and blush. "Jesus, you look beautiful."
I roll my eyes, shifting my gaze from them to Sky who already has his eyes on me. I step closer to him and he surprises me by closing the space between us and throwing his arms around me. Time slows and I become achingly aware of how good he smells. My eyes shut and I hug him back.
With his lips on my ear, I barely register that he's whispering something (a song), while trying to ignore the tickle. "You're just too good to be true. Can't take my off of you..."
"Sky..." I giggle, trying to move out of his hold but he has me in place.
"You'd be like heaven to touch, I want to hold you so much. At long last love has arrived, I thank God that I'm alive..." I can tell he has a smile on and I finally peel off his embrace to see the grin directed at me while I giggle uncontrollable.
"Oh, please stop--"
"You're just too good to be true, can't take my eyes off of you," he finishes, smiling and holding my fingers. I don't look away and my heart beat feels the most regulated like it's found the answer to the question it's been asking. Sky doesn't look away too and his eyes flick from my lips back to my eyes.
The moment is broken when Darcy pulls my hand off his and I have to blink, remembering we're not alone. "We have to go now or we'll be late!"
Sky clears his throat, dipping his hands into his pockets. "Good evening Darcy."
"Evening Sky," she returns, eying him before we literally shove ourselves into the car. Jamal and Sky taking the front seats while both seat at the back. I feel like sulking and Jamal gives me an apologetic look. "Jamal, so you didn't have the guts to ask Diana to the dance?"
"Ew, Diana?" He turns back to give Darcy a look. "Why would I do that?"
She shrugs, "I figured you guys were close friends."
I laugh at that, "more like frenemies."
He clears his throat, "correction, there's no fre in that." He looks back at Darcy again and adds, "you're prettier and I'm frenemies with you."
Darcy scoffs, "and who told you there's any fre in this?"
"Aw Magdalene, don't deny you love me."
"My goodness," Darcy gags. "Last thing ever, goat."
I chuckle at their banter and reach forward like I want to play with the radio channel. Sky turns to me and we're so close, I quickly kiss him on the lips before pretending to focus on the radio with my face burning up. Sky laughs under his breath.
"Didn't know you were so coy, sweetheart."
"Shut up," I quickly put some random channel and make sure our faces touch before I settle back into my seat. Wishing for the time to go fast enough or just skip to the part where I'm finally alone with Sky.
The hall is almost full when we get there and already so lively and beautiful.
"Whoa," I say in awe and all four of us stop to admire the scene.
Jamal nudges me, "we did good, right?"
"Absolutely," I answer sharing a look with Sky for a second.
We both helped in blowing up the balloons that were currently decorating the ceiling in different colours. We also wrote on the banner and sprinkled it up with glitters before it was also put up. Many other people helped to make the hall perfect like it is now and they were all here, enjoying the night together.
"Do you think someone would have the courage to spike the punch?" Jamal asks and I scrunch up my face in disgust just as Sky laughs and Darcy smacks Mal.
"Only you would think of something like that," she says, rolling her eyes at him.
"Not only me Magdalene," Jamal points out. "I and the person who is going to spike it. I advise you children guys stay away from punch tonight. It's going to be sick!"
"There are adults chaperones here," I tell him. "Parents and teachers alike."
"When has that ever stopped anyone?"
Darcy's face pales, "you're sure?"
Jamal breaks out in a laugh, "calm your ti-- self Darce, it'll be fine."
She scowls at him, "stop joking already. I don't like that."
"I'm sorry," he puts his palms up as if about to pray and bows his head a little for emphasis.
"Let's go take pictures," Darcy tugs at my arm. "Aye?"
"Sure," I follow her but not before grabbing Sky with my other free hand and pulling him with us.
We don't stand in line for long and after three more people, it our turn. Darcy and I take three, Darcy, I and Jamal take two, Us four take one, Darcy and Jamal— ignoring Darcy's protest— take about two. Sky and I take two and Jamal and I take two too— the only reason being so it doesn't look weird that Sky and I took some. The pictures I am looking forward to the most is that of Sky and I, I just know they are pictures I am going to cherish forever.
We get snacks and then Darcy pulls me to the dance floor to dance, despite the fact that I don't know how too. I feel bad because I know Sky's just with us because of me and then I can't even give him my full attention and I can't abandon Darcy. She's my 'date' and she'd feel super bad and lonely. Torn between myself, I sullenly dance with Darcy, my hands on her waist and hers around my neck; my eyes on her feet as I follow her movement.
Darcy laughs, "oh my goodness Isreal, you're so bad at this."
"Huh?" I barely heard her.
"Look up sometimes, not just down all the time. You're making it feel like a funeral dance," her fingers on my chin nudges my head up.
"Oh," I look into her blue eyes for all together eight seconds before my eyes wander around finding Sky immediately.
He doesn't look as gloom as I do. He's chewing on something and talking with Lou and his friends. He looks so good, I want my arms wrapped around him instead or at least just standing beside him and doing any other thing but this. My eyes move to Lou and as always, he looks just as good dressed in an all black suit. The jacket button is open and he has a cup of what I'm guessing is punch in it, a smile on his face. It seems everyone is having fun except me.
"Ouch," Darcy says bringing my attention back and I learn from her grimace that I had stepped on her.
"Sorry." Somebody save me...
"It's no problem, happens," her hands are off my neck and I take a step back to give her space to inspect her foot. She smiles, standing upright again, "nothing broken."
"Thank God," I am about to step back into the dreary dance when Jamal, like the angel that he is, steps in.
"Dudes, my song is about to come on, hope y'all are ready?"
"What song?" Darcy and I ask at the same time just as the slow dancing song changes to one of Drake's songs.
I raise my brow, "Toosie slide?"
Jamel cheers loudly, clapping my shoulder with a laugh. "You know it man, ready?"
My lips part and I look around the hall filled with students. "What? Here?"
"Of course," he gives me look that says he'd kill me if I dare mess this for him.
For the week we spent preparing for the winter formal, Jamal has been training me to dance Toosie Slide by Drake. He said it was the only way I could make it up to him after I signed us up for helping without his consent. I agreed to it but I didn't know he was planning on making us dance it here.
"Mal, please," I plead, I can't imagine I just called him an angel seconds ago. "No here."
"Issy, you ain't getting out of this one, be brave. You know you know how to do it."
I run my palm over my face in defeat, "oh Lord."
"What's happening?" Darcy asks curiously, watching between the two of us.
Mal winks at her, "watch and learn Missy."
We both move forward, separating ourselves from the crowd and with my face- no, entire body burning up, I play out the dance steps we've been rehearsing for the past week.

We follow the song, taking our right leg up, bending it sideways and then slide sideways with our left leg. We do this again for the left leg and I'm so shocked with myself for actually getting it without falling or missing. There are some other moves that Mal incorporated in and we excute it perfectly, twisting and turning some hip hop tiny moves.
I'm surprised when after the first half, the hall erupts with cheers and applause. And in the next half, the entire population joins in, copying our moves and dancing with us. I don't feel so shy and anxious when other people join in, including Darcy and Sky.

Jamal finishes up himself with some really impressive moves and a somersault that leaves jaws dropping and sends basically everyone towards him like he's some celebrity. I have to admit it's one of the most fun I have ever had and I'm glad he got me to do it. He knew I'd like it after and boy do I.
The evening just gets more exciting and pumped after that and maybe it's because of the dance but I manage to tear myself away from Darcy and end up with Sky at a corner of the hall, at last.
"I didn't know you could dance so well," he laughs, adjusting the collar of my shirt. My coat and suit jacket are long gone because the hall is really warm compared to outside. Especially after the exercise.
"I can't," I whine, covering my face with my palms and hiding my smile. He laughs some more and I part my fingers to peek at him. "Well, did you like it?"
"Really," he touches my cheek gently. "I loved it. You didn't seem as shy or anxious."
"I was though," I groan but smile afterwards. "But yeah, it was fun."
"More fun than dancing with Darcy?" He eyes me and I somber up.
"Yeah, totally and I'm so sorry."
"It's fine," he shrugs. "At least I caught you looking at me."
I blush and I mumble, "I always look at you."
He grins, "guess what?"
"What?"
He leans in closer to me and whisper directly to my ear. "I think I love you."
"W-wha-" I splutter out, freezing as my heart lurches in my chest.
He look in his eyes wavers for a second and he moves his hand in front of his face like he's trying to brush what he just said away or brush his expression out. "Um- guess what again?"
"What?" I ask but I hear my voice echo in my ears. I'm still not over what he just said.
He leans closer and I stop breathing, bracing myself up for what he'll say next. Is he going to take it back? I don't-- "The punch was really fucking spiked."
Breath.
"Oh," I say and in my head I'm yelling, 'Sky, please don't brush it off'.
But he did. Sky laughs, poking out his tongue that coloured red from the punch.
I gasp, "oh my, you drank it."
"Yeah," he laughs, pinching his fingers together. "I might be a teeny bit drunk."
"Oh," is all I can. Oh. He might not have meant it. "How come I didn't notice?"
Sky just shrugs, looking at him in a way I couldn't decipher. His scrutinizing look, I guess.
I have to clear my throat to speak, "it looks yummy on you. I want to taste it but I don't want to get drunk."
He grins, a wicked look in his eyes as he grabs my hand and pulls me with him. "No promises."
"About what?"
"About not getting drunk."
He takes us to the back of the school where there's no body in sight and before I can ask him what exactly we're doing here, I'm gently pushed against the wall, his hand on each side of my face/neck as his lips connect with mine making every other thing disappear. I grab his jacket and kiss him back just as easily, my mouth opening as his tongue meets mine and a sound bubbles in both our throats.
Sky pulls away breathless, his eyes darker than they were back in the hall and on mine all through. "How was that?"
My chest is heaving up and down, taking as much oxygen and using up my will power to keep me back from kissing him again that second. My eyes roam his face and all I can manage to say still in the heat of the moment is, "sweet."
He smirks and I don't give myself enough time to admire it before I pull him back towards me, gingerly meeting his lips once more and moaning into it. Sky bites on my bottom lip igniting more flames in me like the one there wasn't enough. My fingers find their way on his shoulders and I frantically start pulling off his suit jacket. I want and I need him closer.
"I think I love you" -
The jacket falls to the ground and one hand sinks into his hair as the other wounds around him, our bodies meeting and instead of quenching the flames, it increases it.
I think I love you too.
I hear the footsteps but I don't register it until it's too late— completely consumed in the moment— the calling of my name shattering said moment like a glass into a thousand pieces.
"Israel?"
Sky stumbles away from me and I don't even push him, my eyes moving from him to a shocked looking Darcy Pickett. Her blue eyes wide and glassy, lips parted and skin paler than I've ever seen it.
"Darcy," I slowly call as if telling my brain what's happening. Trying to kick start it because it seems completely shut down, like the world around me.
My theory of my brain being shutdown proves true when I barely see Darcy lunging towards Sky, a monstrous look on her face. "You bastard!"

*Cackles because I cannot get enough*
Who saw that coming? What do you think happens next?
PS: I had no idea what to write in this chapter, just the end scene as a plan but then I ended up getting over 2500 words, how sick is that? I just hope it isn't crappy. Also I know Toosie Slide by Drake is a 2020 aka Corona song and if it's 2020 there should be no life going on, sigh. But I love that song and I just had to use it. I danced it too...hehe.
