The words catch Isaac by surprise. Netari James wants to ask him out? Part of him feels like he should be afraid, a pretty big part, actually. There's another part of him that feels a different way though. A part of him feels excited.

"What did you have in mind?" He asks Tari, whose questioning face breaks into a wide grin, one Isaac's never seen before. Tari isn't an unattractive girl, she just has an amazing knack for scaring the life out of him. The amount of teeth visible due to the smile does make him wary again, "I don't want to do anything illegal." He says to her, narrowing his eyes.

At this, Tari laughs so hard that she doubles over, "Isaac, you are too cute for your own good." She says once she has calmed down. "How do you feel about very legal live music?" She asks, smile still plastered to her face as she lifts her eyebrows in question.

Tari can't seem to shake the giddy feeling she has. Though many people seem to think that she is some android jerk, she is still just a girl, with regular girl crushes, and her crush of the past ten tears has just agreed to go on a date with her. She is currently on cloud nine.

Isaac cocks his head in thought as he thinks over the offer and Tari wants to touch the swaying curls atop his head. "I haven't really gotten to experience live music. I would like to though." Nodding once at Isaac, Tari turns on her heel, "Cool, my friend has a band and they're playing not too far from here." She says, making her way to her dusty white truck.

Noticing that Isaac is still in his previous place, Tari faces him again, eyebrow raised high, "Everything good over there, Lahey?" The boy rubs the back of his neck, "Yeah, it's, well, I don't think I'll be able to go out tonight. I can't really get in too late." Tari clips her keys back to her belt loop as she walks back over to Isaac.

Pulling the rake from his hands and setting it against a large grave marker, Tari takes one of his large hands in her callus-covered one, "Come on Isaac, it's only eight o'clock, I'll have you back before ten, and if daddy dearest has an issue, he can take it up with me."

There are a thousand things running through Isaac's mind that he should be saying to her, but all he can do is walk along with her and focus on the feel of her hand in his. In books and movies, whenever the girl or boy with the rough edges takes the hand of their significant other, it's surprisingly soft and tiny and gentle. Not hers though. Tari's hand is ridden with calluses and she holds his hand firmly, as if she's hoping to keep him beside her with the grip.

As they release hands to get into the truck, Isaac determines that he definitely likes how her hands turned out to be rather than the expectation.

"Heey! Somebody go get Emmet, Tari's here!" Yells a guy standing outside of the bar, a very illegal looking cigarette in his hands. When the duo gets out of the truck, he smirks at them, "And tell him she brought a boy toy!" Tari smiles as she grabs Isaac's hand and walks up to the guy, "Shut up, Ben. He's not a boy toy, and keep that crap away from Emmet, and Isaac." She says, pulling the joint from his lips and tossing it to the ground.

Isaac watches the entire scene with surprise. He didn't think that there was anything Tari didn't do, and here she is scolding a stoner in his honor as her fingers grip his protectively.

Ben scoffs and follows the two into the bar, not daring to say anything to the saucy girl. All of Isaac's attention is pulled from Tari and Ben when he spots Emmet. Despite what Tari says and the surprisingly soothing music from the band, Isaac is still incredibly afraid. At least he is until Emmet reaches the two with a smile on his face, his lopsided grin making him look much more approachable.

"Look at this. Tari, you said you were going for your angel boy today, I didn't think you had it in you though," He pulls her close with one of his arms, "I'm sorry I doubted you, Tari. And you," He turns his attention to Isaac now, "You got lucky, Lahey. She doesn't like guys often."

All Isaac can really do is blush at his words, nodding his head with a quick glance down at Tari, who just rolls her eyes in a playful manner and pulls him to the middle of the floor so they're directly in front of the band.

Once they've reached their destination, Tari releases Isaac's hand. He had almost forgotten they were even intertwined until a chill crept over the area just seconds ago occupied by one of the most used hands he'd ever experienced on a female - or anyone since he hadn't made a habit of holding hands with people, really.

His faint uncomfortableness goes unnoticed by the rest of the world. The band keeps playing - Isaac finding his head bobbing along to the beat - and Tari continues swaying her body, her lips moving along with the words as if she knows them intimately.

Every few songs, Tari pulls her phone from her pocket. Isaac doesn't know why until she places her hand on his forearm, "You ready? I said I'd get you home by ten." She says, already making her way towards the exit. They leave with nothing more than a nod in Emmet's direction and a fist bump from the girl at the bar.

The entire ride to Isaac's house, Tari is quiet, slightly dancing to the music coming from her phone, and Isaac is watching her. "What?" She asks with a look at Isaac, breaking the silence. The boy, feeling a bit more comfortable with his mysterious suitor in their short amount of time together, furrows his eyebrows, "What do you mean, what?"

His familiar response makes her smile, "You were trying to be discrete about staring at me. I asked what wondering why." Isaac is almost confused with the statement, but manages to understand before his silence lasts an awkwardly long time, "Nothing, you're just, a little less scary now... Did you really call me an angel boy, or was that paraphrasing? I was just wondering."

Tari throws him a side glance, her eyebrows shooting up, "I actually referred to you as a cherub, like Cupid, because of your curly hair. Emmet just says angel instead." Isaac is just getting comfortable when they pull up to his house, and only the front room and porch light are on. Tari notices Isaac's discomfort immediately and pulls her key from the ignition, "I'm walking you to the door."

Isaac tries to argue, but his attempts are futile and she knocks anyway. When the door opens, she smiles, "Hello Mr. Lahey, I thought I should at least walk Isaac up so you would know who he was out with."
