Dutchmen

Seria chuckled. "It's just...You haven't bothered saying my name, like, ever." Seria said. "I tend to learn my friends names, you know." Caleb said. "I'm a friend to you?" Seria asked. "No. You're too much more than that. I'm your...kind of like your Guardian angel, remember?" Caleb smiled. "We have a stronger bond than glue. We can't even go within five feet of each other." Caleb chuckled. Seria smiled.

"That's true, but...don't you think we've been spending a lot of time together?" Seria asked. "A lot? Well we only have eternity. I've only spent three days with you." Caleb smiled. "True. But, we've shared so many secrets of our lives with each other. Don't you feel like we're...I don't know...close? Closer than bonded?" Seria asked. "Uh...maybe. Are you asking me if I feel we're in a relationship?" Caleb crossed his arms.

"Maybe." Seria shrugged. "Well, I have no comment." Caleb leaned back on the couch. Seria sighed. "Why do we have to feel this?" Seria laid her hand on Caleb's. The stabbing of a thousand knives crawled up their arms. "I...I don't k...know." Caleb stuttered. He looked in Seria's eyes and sat up. "What were to happen if we...grew feelings for one another?" Seria's eyes longed for answer.

"I...I have no clue. I only had that feeling with another Guardian, not one of the people a guarded and taught." Caleb pulled his hand back. "Do you have feelings for me?" Seria asked. "I...I..." Caleb stared at Seria. Her eyes glimmered in the sunlight. "No, forget it. I shouldn't have asked." Seria stood up and walked to the door. Caleb followed her, but she opened and shut the door. He looked out of the window. Seria was sitting on the steps.

What a prick. Seria kicked a rock into the road. She sighed and pulled her legs up to her chest. Caleb opened the door and sat next to Seria. "I'm sorry. It was stupid to ask that question." Seria looked at Caleb. "It's fine. I'm just...not so good with words." Caleb chuckled. "Wanna go in? It's chilly out here." He asked. "I don't mind it. Maybe you just can't handle it cause you're a fish!" Seria laughed.

Caleb chuckled and crossed his arms. "Funny. Come on. We can sit inside." Caleb stood up and stepped inside. Seria followed him inside and shut the door. "It's been a weird few days for me. I have just been a little jumpy." Seria leaned against the wall. "A little?" Caleb sat in the window sill. "Okay, you got me. But, who would act sane in my position?" Seria sighed. "Not many. I know I didn't." Caleb shrugged.

"I'm sorry, I just don't want to talk right now." Seria walked over to the couch and plopped down. "What's wrong?" Caleb asked. "It's just...nothing. It's nothing." Seria scoffed. Caleb stood up, walked over to Seria, and leaned on the armrest. "Are you sure it's nothing?" Caleb pulled on Seria's sleeve. "Yes." Seria pushed Caleb's hand away. The stabbing feeling pierced her hand. "I just....I need a shower." Seria stood up and walked down the hallway to the bathroom.

As she slammed the bathroom door, Caleb fell to the floor. His whole body felt as if he was being stabbed all over. He held his stomach as he stumbled down the hallway. He leaned on the wall and slid to the floor. He gasped to breath. His lips became pale, and cold. He heard the shower running and tried moving closer to the bathroom. He gasped again as his head fell to the floor.

He breathed like a fish out of water. Seria stepped out of the bathroom. "I forgot a towel." Seria looked down the hall and saw Caleb laying along the floor. "Oh, my god!" Seria ran to Caleb and grabbed his arm, but pulled away as the zapping feeling came back. He coughed and sat up. "What happened?" Seria asked. "I got too far away from you, I guess." Caleb shrugged as he pulled himself to his feet.

"Sorry, I stomp off when I get annoyed. I could've...killed you." Seria walked to the end of the hallway and grabbed a towel out of the closet. "It's fine, really." Caleb sat by the bathroom door and coughed. "Thank you, for not dying." Seria said before closing the bathroom door. "And thank you, for not leaving me to die." Caleb whispered.

Seria walked out of the bathroom in a towel, drying her hair. She looked down and saw Caleb sleeping soundly by the door. She sighed and walked into her bed room. She wiped sweat from her brow as she searched for clothes. By the time she had her clothes, she felt like her throat was closing up. She stumbled into the hallway and gasped. Seria went back into the bathroom and shut the door.

When she got dressed, she stepped into the hallway and saw Caleb still sleeping. She sighed and sat next to him. Seria laid over on the floor and hugged herself. Her eyes slowly closed.

"Seria. Seria." Caleb's voice slowly faded into Seria's hearing. She moaned as she sat up and rubbed her eyes. "What?" Seria asked. "It's nine." Caleb moved back and Seria stood up. "Oh, okay." Seria stumbled into her room and sat on her bed. "We slept so early that we should stay up for a while." Caleb stood in the doorway as he spoke.

"I don't know if I'll be able to stay up." Seria yawned. "You should try to. Okay?" Caleb smiled. "Why should I, though? It's already late." Seria scoffed. "Maybe, so that we can sleep through the night? What if we did something to distract you?" Caleb shrugged.

Seria nodded and followed Caleb into the living room. They sat on the couch beside each other. "what could we do?" Caleb asked. "I don't know. Showers make me tired." Seria gazed at Caleb. "Hmm...ask me anything. I'll answer honestly." Caleb grinned. "Oh, uh, okay, um...oh, you said you didn't know why we felt the pain everytime we touch, so is there anyway we can find out why?" Seria asked eagerly.

"I mean, I'm not sure. I've never really thought of it before." Caleb shrugged. "You mean, you're thinking about it now?" Seria asked. Caleb looked at Seria as his cheeks turned red. "I...I was kidding!" Seria blushed. Caleb sighed. "Why are you asking so many questions?" Caleb crossed his arms. "If I don't ask questions, I'll never know new things." Seria scoffed.

Caleb yawned and leaned back. Seria leaned on the arm rest and sighed quietly. "Well...maybe we could find the Dutchmen." Caleb shrugged. "Dutchmen?" Seria sat up and looked over at Caleb. "Who's the Dutchmen?" Seria asked. "He's a man who could help us. Let's figure it out tomorrow." Caleb yawned again and closed his eyes. Seria laid back down on the armrest and closed her eyes, her feet only inches from his thighs.
