Tyler seems to come from a pretty normal and caring family, whom seems to just want the best for him. He is the quiet kid in school and the main target for most of the jocks, like Montgomery De La Cruz. He takes photos for the yearbook because its what he truly likes to do and it makes him happy, which is the main reason he's on Hannah's tapes. He took pictures of Hannah, without her permission and was labeled to most as a stalker because of this.

Tyler did show remorse for what he did to Hannah but still wanted everything to be kept a secret in fear that he didn't want to face punishment. He's a very socially awkward guy but can also be very arrogant and uncaring when it comes to what others want and what their feelings are about certain things and topics.

Despite all this happening, Tyler went through intense bullying after everything, things that nobody deserves to happen to them, happened to him. Of course, he messed up, and he was wrong, but most know that he definitely wasn't the worst out of them all, but he probably got the most backlash. He's just a kid who's misunderstood by others, but most people never give him the time of day and just don't care.
