Chapter Seven

a/n; dedicated to everyone who supports this story!!

Flashback, yesterday.

After Yixing had nonchalantly made ambiguous and perverted comments and on top of all stolen my freshly brewed and made coffee, I stomped towards the office to quickly gather all my things that were thrown all over my desk. When leaving the cramped kitchen where I was previously hit with sinful thoughts, I felt Yixing's eyes glue themselves onto the back of my body as if to observe the curve and bumps of it. I shivered throughout the entire short walk, trying to keep my arms close to my body and pass by the people unnoticed. The last thing I would need right now was encountering someone, more specifically someone that was able to decipher my condition.

Flustered.

My hands flew around folders and papers, pens and a lonely pink lipstick that were in the following tossed carelessly into my bag. Somehow my eyes were aimless, mainly observing the peck of dust that hung at the edge of my computer screen as my hands fiddled with the objects on my desk. As soon as everything was stuffed inside I turned on my heels, grasping my coat and making another turn while slipping my arms into the sleeves. My fingers wrapped around the straps of my bag, heaving it up, before I aimed for the ajar door. Simultaneously Yixing was already making his way through the desks with three coffee cups on a small tray, his eyes yet to find mine in between all people.

I tried to make the best out of the already unbearably awkward situation and quickened my pace to exit the office before Yixing would even lay his eyes on the door. My body flew through the threshold of the door that I pushed open with my shoulder. My gaze was strictly focused on the other side of the hall where the exit door of the main building was already drawing me closer, my feet seemingly accelerating with every new step I took.
I could execute my plan perfectly, Yixing was involved into a conversation with Krystal and Jongin as I had turned my head to glimpse at him from over my shoulder. The additional fact I gathered upon turning my head was the agitation spread all over Jongin's face as Yixing mumbled something into his ear. Shortly after they bid their farewell to Krystal, who seemed just as confused as I felt that very moment, they stormed into Yixing's and mine office.

I halted near the exit close to Junmyeon's office and turned my entire body around completely. Through the huge glass windows that made up half of the walls facing the office hall, I watched Jongin and Yixing hastily searching for files on desks and computers and even invading my own. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion upon the interminable nervousness on their usually serene faces. They must have felt watched, thus Jongin lifted his head to reassure himself of any unwanted observers of the event. He pushed himself off my desk after having looked through my computer and with a swift movement of his hands closed the shutters that disabled our coworkers to peek inside.

He terminated my observance yet sparked the curiosity inside of me even greater. Their secrecy and rush acted like fuel to the confusion Yixing had heaped in my head with his suspicious behavior related this meeting.

"Where are you off to?" A sudden voice beside me tore me out of the trance that drew my eyes towards the office, that was now isolated from everyone else. When Jongin closed the last shutter, our eyes met for a split second, before darkness absorbed his eyes.

"Huh?" I turned to the side to look into the amused face of Junmyeon, eyeing the torn me. "Oh, Yixing has a meeting it seems so he told me to work at home." I gave him a nervous and unsure smile.

"Don't worry, he always does that. At least he did with his past assistant."

Present Time

Perhaps I was not worried in terms of concern about his well being. I was worried because of basically everything that sticked to this meeting like thick honey. The sudden and new rush, the nervousness on their faces, their secrecy, no one being allowed to step and even see inside the office— call me insane, but this situation was anything but ordinary.

Looking at Yixing's face right now, he seemed way more relaxed than the previous day. Occasionally my eyes slipped from the words that I typed and that only a split second later appeared in on the display in black font, to the man himself. I was supposed to summarize the gist of all company events for our quartile report, however not even this proper task could prevent my thoughts from drifting off to last day's events. Moreover, it were not solely my thoughts that shifted to an entirely different genre. Even my previously concentrated eyes seemed to slip off the screen to search for something diagnostically conclusive in his features, but everything I encountered where those smiles of peculiar charm.

He even caught me staring at him. Jesus, could I make everything any more worse?

"Is there something on my face?" He chuckled lowly, deeply, tearing his gaze from his computer screen that was right behind mine. I lifted my head that was hovering over the keyboard, previously in order to hide the frustration across my face, now all exposed to his eyes.

"No.." I shook my head with a simpered smile. "I just.. Had a question regarding the report. It's about an event that took place before I was employed."

"Oh?" A sudden streak of surprise washed over his face, it was for me to decipher if this surprise was enacted or honest. "I should help you then right?" He pushed himself back on his chair before lifting himself from the black leather, keeping his eyes strictly on me. "What is it about?"

I cleared my throat as he decreased space between our bodies tantalizingly slow, standing behind me and leaning forward to tower over me with his palm placed on the arm rest of my chair. His eyes were flying over the bullet points I enlisted on the white page, but one feeling did not leave me; he was probably way more interested in the way my eyes flickered quicker when he came closer, and the way my body suddenly stiffened when detecting the warmth of his own.

"It says that in May Mr. Kim held a general meeting here with the other groups that we share the magazine with. Were all the groups attending it?" My voice was barely something above a whisper, considering I myself had to act clueless and idiotic now. He had previously given me information and reports on the single events themselves, meaning that I should have no questions left. Here I was, trying to cover up for something that was way more thrilling that this dumb event.

"Jiye, I told you that the additional information is in the folder I transferred to your screen." His cold hand placed itself on top of my own on the computer mouse, doing a few determined clicks that revealed the file he was speaking of. I shivered and kept my eyes focused strictly on the screen, not even daring to look at him even at his next words.
"You know, you don't have to find an excuse if you want to hide something. Just say there's nothing wrong and you can easily evade a lot of unnecessary embarrassment. Like right now."

"I forgot about the file.", I lied.

He laughed, making his body fall closer and firmer against my own, his lips above my ear. "I hope you didn't forget about out meeting tomorrow as easily. That would be very unfortunate." He flicked his tongue at the end of his statement.

"No." I stated, my lungs failing to fill with oxygen.

"Time?"

"8 o'clock in the evening."

"Place?"

"You pick me up at my place and then we will eat at your favorite restaurant."

"Clever girl." Wrapping his hand around the edge of my chair he chuckled lowly, before turning it around in one vigorous movement of his arm. My body together with the chair did a spin to face him, my eyes almost naturally flying up to his at his following words. "Outfit?"

I screamed internally thanks to his torso that was just on my eye level. "We did not talk about this, did we?" I furrowed my eyebrows and tried to remain cool and sure with his unpredictable words.

I asked myself if people would consider our position somewhat wrong, before I noticed that most of the shutters were still closed. I must have been entangled in my own endless train of thoughts this morning when entering the office.

Generally speaking, it was quite advantaging the shutters were mostly still down— our colleagues would not see how dangerously close Yixing neared his lips to my face, and they would be spared from the sight of an trembling girl that lost all her cool by that point. Aka, me.

"But we are speaking about it right now, aren't we?" The vibrations his words caused bounced off my cheek, sounding between our faces for a few more moments in that his eerily narrowed eyes observed the movement of mine. "Revealing and black, if you wish. Oh and if you don't mind, I will leave now, I have an interview with someone important to attend with Jongin."

Yixing was a master of words. It seemed like he could foresee every of my words, movements, reactions, shape his answers a particular way that would influence me in the most efficient way. He hurt my brain as he wrapped me around his finger like thread to sew my mouth close, like robbing me off speech. He seemed so distanced mentally whereas he was so fricking close physically. He seemed to tower on a different sphere where one was taught about the hidden undertones of certain words and emphasises, something irrelevant and non existing in practice to mundanes like myself.

He distanced his body from mine again, leaving me cold with his lingering words and the thin layer of patience remaining on myself. The steps that took him back to his desk were slow and determined as per usual, even the way he ran his hand through his tousled, chocolate hair. His entire life was planned to destroy my heart, a mere game.

But even thought I was completely aware of this fact, nothing in me demanded to change it, not even my healthy wit.

"I'll see you tomorrow." I mumbled, turning back around with the chair to face the computer screen. "Good luck on your interview."

"Work hard and you will be rewarded tomorrow, yes?" He gave me one last smile before enclosing the handle of the door and exiting the room, catching the stares of so many as he left the now mysterious and isolated room. "Have a nice day, Jiye."

Since when could my name we stressed in such a deep and dark way? A new door just opened in my mind.

Back to work, or as I preferred to label it this very moment: temporary distraction from my godly colleague and his mysterious doings with Jongin. The illumination in the office was dimmed thanks to the partly closed shutters on the glass, this only enhanced my thoughts that revolved around exactly this matter. Not that he was working with Jongin, doing a lot of interviews but excluding me as his assistant and basically everyone else as if his life depended on it. It simply didn't seem normal, I didn't know in what way though.

My fingers soon flew over the keyboard anew, my eyes attempted to concentrate on the words I produced with overflowing typographic mistakes. Just the way I lacked the capability to write even one sentence without any mistak made me become aware that I was doomed for bad. My eyes flickered with not only lasting fatigue of my sleepless night, but with sheer irritation.

I even struggled to find one file similar to the one Yixing had just opened on my screen, searching through the entire folder itself. I growled at the succession of my failure, remembering the additional paper files he had mentioned earlier this morning. A spark of hope ignited inside of me when I looked over to his desk that was mostly cleaned empty but held a few folders that could likely include what I needed this moment. More information about this stupid group company meeting for the magazine two months ago.

I arose from my chair to leisurely walk over to his nest desk, simultaneously gulping down some of the water I had brought with me to the office. My eyes and hands both travelled to the few, dark blue folders and stacks of paper that were cornered on the surface, reading over the covers in search for something that could give me further information for the quartile report.

Finances, last two quartile reports, the incomplete prototype of next months magazine, nothing of these seemed to include what I was really looking for. I randomly flipped open one of the folders in last despair, not expecting much more than some digits and diagnosis of finances that he additionally managed to lessen Junmyeon's overall work.

But what I found, was far beyond my even little expectations.

It did not seem like some boring finances, at least it did look like it was truly about money. It was strange and unfamiliar to my eyes yet known, binary codes covering almost half of the page. It was like geeky computer language, but something in the hidden lines revealed that it was far more than just the informatics you were taught in high school. The most striking thing were the words written above the code itself.

"The Councellor"

The Councellor was our biggest enemy on the market, their CEO was basically Junmyeon's arch enemy, it was something I had known even before working in the company. It did not seem logical that some of their files were laying exposed in binary codes in between the walls of our building, and far more I could not understand why Yixing possessed them in the first place.

I flipped the page to find even more of the binary codes, expressions and terms I could not even barely understand, errors, system fails, nothing a simple assistant could grasp. Even thought the 0's and 1's were always arranged differently, each of the pages had something in common; all of them were concerning The Councellor.
The already dominating chaos in my mind was once again tossed all over, turned from the tip down to the bottom, more confusion added the further I looked into the file. If I ever had the chance, I should ask Kyungsoo about this.

I was more concentrated on this strange thing than on my very own work, which could be simply assessed in the way I did not notice someone storming into the office before the person actually stood right beside me. I immediately pressed the folder down the desk and closed it shut with the palms of my hands before turning my head to the intruder.

"Oh, looking through our Yixing's files you are?" Just upon hearing the certain pitch in her voice I knew that she was up for no good, even worse than usually.

"What?" I shook my head nervously and widened my eyes at her with a laugh. "Of course not Yura, I'm looking for the folder with additional information Yixing left for me. I'm supposed to be writing the quartile report, but there are a lot of events I was not attending."

She crossed her arms over her exposed chest, cocking her eyebrow up at me. "Oh really? I did not know the quartile report include our company's finances. Tell me more about it, Jiye."

"Listen, I found the wrong folder and that is simply it. You don't have to misunderstand this entire situation, you're not the one working with Yixing after all, right?" I tilted my head with a triumphing smile, knowing that not being his assistant was one of her weakest points. "So how about you leave me to do my work and get back to yours? Oh, and could you possibly stop calling him our Yixing? He's not too fond of the idea." Everything to just distract her from the fact I was basically rummaging through something way too secretive for me to understand.

"How does he even know this?" Narrowing her eyes in anger, she took a step closer to me and let the heels of her shoes scratch against the floor.

I shrugged my shoulders. "Maybe you should lower your voice a little bit while talking to our colleagues. Now, please let me continue my work."

"Maybe you should be more careful what you touch in here if I'm watching you." One step closer to her made me almost suffocate from the perfume cloud surrounding her. She gritted her teeth and she glared at me, hissing her next words. "Mr. Zhang wouldn't be too pleased about needing a new employee because he had to fire his old."

As she turned around to leave the office melodramatically with her hips swinging in a sharp angle from left to right, I cleared my throat to make her steps half right in front of the door.

"Yura." I called out her name, my next few words getting quieter and laced with more smiles in their sequence. "It's good that he choose me then, because I will certainly not dare to disappoint our Yixing."

I could see her body tense drastically after the echo of my words had ceased. For a few moments she stood there utterly paralyzed with her back facing me, before she decided to tear open the door of the office and storm right out to the place she had came from. She left me chuckling while leaning against the edge of Yixing's desk, but shortly afterwards reality hit my consciousness again and my smile languished into oblivion—those files did not seem regular and legal.

ANY GUESSES? How do you like the story so far? I mean, the chapters don't really have a long sequence of events, but it's basically all leading to the chapter I published as "-".
