Chapter 11
Chapter 11
After I took a shower I found a note on my bed with a rose next to it.
Hey, I left you this note 'cause I didn't find you and I heard the water running in the shower and so I figured that you were- anyways I have a surprise for you (I'd suggest to get dressed up.) Meet me at the dock at 7:00.-Wes.
I tried figuring out what the surprise could be, but I couldn't figure it out. I didn't really have any 'dressy up' clothes, but I wore the best I had, a plaid shirt over a black tank top and dark blue jeans with my black converse. It wasn't the best, but the jeans came in handy. I left from the cabin a few minutes before 7:00. The dock was dark; I couldn't see anything and suddenly two hands covered my eyes. I felt terrified. "Guess who?" I recognized that voice right away.
"You scared me." I said turning around.
"Yeah, you literally jumped." He said. He took my hand and walked me deeper into the dock. "Why'd you tell me to come here?" I asked.
"You'll see." He said in a happy tone. Deeper into the dock I saw bright lights. Candles. "What's all this?"
"Our first date."
"What?"
"Remember you said you'd like a first date?"
"But I thought-"
"Here." He extended the chair for me to sit. Then he took his seat. "For dinner," he said opening the tray top.
"Cheeseburgers." I chuckled. "You made it?" I asked.
He nodded.
"Let's dig in."
For dessert he made chocolate brownies. "Let's listen to music." He said turning on the radio. If you ever leave me baby, leave some morphine at my door.... "I love this song." I said.
"Then let's dance." He said extending his hand.
"I-I-I can't dance."
"Oh, c'mon. Sure you can, all you need is practice." He pulled me to his chest, carried me up a little and put my feet on top of his. "See your dancing." he said happily. I smiled.
"So, did you like it?"
"What?" He gave me a little shove on the shoulder, "Oh, no," his face saddened, "I loved it!"
Then his face lightened up again. "I think someone deserves a little present for doing such a good job." He said waiting for a response.
"Maybe, I'll give it to you tomorrow." I said, "I'm just kidding." I drew closer to his face and gave him a kiss. The song faded away.
Cause there be no sunlight, if you leave me baby, there be no clear skies if I lose you baby...
The night before we left I walked out with my pj's and sandals, and then sat on the porch swing. I looked up at the night sky. There were like a million twinkling sparkles in the sky. "Hey," a male voice said. I turned around. "Hey."
"What are you looking at?" he asked. I kept staring at the stars. He sat next to me, "The stars are beautiful tonight."
"Yeah, sometimes at night I like to look at the sky and see the stars." A big pause. "Looking at the stars makes me feel different person."
"You know," Wes started, "when I look at them I feel like my mother is watching me out there. Like she's inside me and I know that she's in my heart."
"Why your mother?" I asked.
"I'm adopted. I never met my biological mother. My adoption mother said my mom was a single mom and my dad left when he knew I was coming." I couldn't believe Wes was adopted.
"I'm so sorry." I said.
"It's okay and you know what, I'm happy with my real family. She's tooken care of me since I was practically born. If it wasn't for my family, who knows where I could have been and I wouldn't have met such a pretty girl like you." I almost blushed and then I shoved him on his shoulder. "No, really. I wouldn't have met a pretty girl like you, besides the way you tell your jokes." He said laughing.
"Stop! As a matter of fact my jokes are funny." I said laughing, too.
"Sure they are. When we go back home, I want you to meet my parents." he said.
"Your parents?"
"Yeah, I think they will like you." He put his hand over my shoulder and my head laid on his shoulder.
We stared at the stars almost the whole night.
I tried to look my best to make Wes's parents think I'm a good person. When I got home, I quickly went to my room upstairs. The first thing I did was open my closet and search for something nice, decent clothes that would satisfy his parents. I looked through all my clothes repeatedly until I remembered my white dress I wore for a party last summer. I dug into my closet so I could find that dress to wear. I finally found it hanging in the corner standing out. I pulled it off its hanger and put it over my body, to see if it still fit me or not. I walked in front of my mirror with the dress on top of me. The mirror looked as if it said, "It does look great on you, but not to wear for dinner at a friend's house." That thought kept me thinking. I'm only going to a friend's house for dinner, not some major ceremony. Why was I trying to impress his parents? Do I have feelings for him?
The time Wes told me he was dyslexic he gave me a kiss. A kiss I could never forget. I remembered how his warm lips felt against mine.
Without thinking twice I told myself, "I like you, Wes." Was I actually in love with Wes!? How did this even happen? I tried to clear my mind by choosing something else to wear, other than the white dress.
It practically took me 10 minutes to choose something else than the dress. I chose a pair of dark blue jeans and, my favorite, striped racerback tank top. I walked to the bathroom to fix my hair a little bit. I chose to put up my hair into a ponytail, but not very much of my hair could go into a ponytail. Considering the fact that I had shoulder length hair. Instead of the ponytail I braided my hair into a side French braid. I went back to my room and put on my black ballet flats. I stood in front of the mirror and looked at myself from head to toe. I thought I looked great from the looks of the mirror. I grabbed my cellphone from my backpack and put it in my back pocket. Down stairs I told my parents about dinner with Wes. "I don't think that's a good idea." my mom told me. "It's only one dinner with Wes. A friend that only invited me to dinner just to meet his parents. Nothing serious."
I guess my dad understood because he said, "Come on, Marie. It's only a dinner, nothing serious. We have to let our daughter start going with her friends more often." My mom actually thought of this. A minute passed by and my mom hadn't said anything. "Alright Jaden, you can go out with Wes." I rushed towards my mom giving her a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you, Mom! I love you, Mom!" I said squealing and jumping up and down. Then I gave my dad a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks, Dad. I love you, too!" I told him. "We just have to consider the fact that you girls," he said putting his hand on Danielle's shoulder, "are growing up so fast. It feels like you guys were just born yesterday." When he told me and Danielle that, I felt a tear falling down my eye to my cheek. I cleaned it off with my hand, before it even ran down my cheek. I ran towards them and gave them a big, huge hug with lots of love.
I walked towards the front door, but before I left I turned around to see them one more time. They were close together shoulder to shoulder, looking like a family portrait about to be taken as a photo. I opened the front door and closed it behind me. I walked down the street and then to the left on Lanny Avenue, to Wes's house. On my way to his house, a thought kept roaming in my mind about his parent's opinion and the feeling I had towards him. What if he didn't like me? This reminded me about my last boyfriend, Justin and how he treated me.

Hmmm? What did you think? It was their first date! Could you believe that Wes is adopted!? Gasp!!! Sorry if you didn't think it was good but remember this is my first book. So patience....
