Silver x reader: Dance Until The World Ends
You are a (A/T)
Keep on dancing until the world ends...
The land was baron. Everywhere for as far as the eye could see, was stone. With a somber atmosphere Silver walked through the apocalyptic world accompanied by his companion Blaze, along with an old dusty grey hedgehog called Victor.
Once again Silver had come back to the future only to have the hopes of a peaceful life shattered. This time the apocalypse took the form of a creature similar to Iblis. But this time what ever this creature touched, would turn to stone. Cities were frozen in time in hours, countries destroyed in days. Barely anyone escaped.
Now, centuries later, wherever Silver went everything was stone. He found himself constantly thinking back to the green fields and rainbows of flowers that he saw in the past. He also longed to see more Mobians. Victor was the first survivor he and Blaze had met in months.
"Come on, the safest place is over here." Victor called quietly.
Silver and Blaze had decided to go back to the past to save their future, once again. And Victor was showing them an area that would be safe enough to Chaos control and open a portal, with out alerting the latest apocalypse.
They followed him out of a stone city to a dried out field, ruins came into view and entering them Victor led them to a sort of room with crumbling walls, sun light leaking in from the cracks shining down on the centre of the room which was a stone pavilion. And at the very centre was a stone (A/T).
"What is this place?" Silver asked.
"Hope." Victor answered with a small smile.
The pair looked at him asking for more verification.
"This (A/T) here." Victor started.
Silver looked at the statue which had once been alive, and he noticed straight away that unlike all the other victims, who had been terrified, scared in their last moment fear permanently written on their faces. This (A/T) was middle aged and held a small smile, her posture suggesting she was halfway through some sort of dance move. Her posture elegant her arms daintily positioned. He thought her very beautiful.
"She's my great grandmother. But she was, and still is, a symbol of hope to all us survivors. 200 years ago when the apocalypse began every one fled. But not her. She just kept on dancing." Victor explained happily.
"Why?" Blaze asked, just as surprised as Silver at the story.
"She knew there was no point in running and so she decided to die doing the thing she loved most. But in doing that she bought enough time for the Mobians of her time to escape, including her teenage daughter. Further more the apocalypse never dared touch this area again, so it's been seen as a safe place to those of us still alive." Victor concluded.
"That's some story." Silver breathed.
There had never been a sign of hope like this (A/T). Yet here she stood.
"Anyway, the strongest part of the structure is over here." Victor broke the silence.
In a shaded area Silver opened up another portal and it lit up the area, sucking air into it seeming anything but inviting.
"Are you coming with us?" Silver asked Victor.
"Nah you don't need an old fellow like me tagging along, besides I'll be able to see these sunsets everyone talked about so much soon enough." He smiled.
"Are you sure?" Blaze asked.
"I'm quiet sure." He smiled.
So with that they both headed through the portal.
**********************************
The flashing and swirling lights abruptly ceased as Silver came in contact with the ground, immediately he felt the warmth of the sun and knew he was in the past. Glancing around he was on a bright green woods.
Knowing he had to find either Blaze or a member of the Sonic gang he used his powers to take flight. But over the vast seas of green, something caught his eye. At a glance he recognised it immediately and didn't hesitate to discretely land. He now stood a few feet away from that very same pavilion the Victor had showed him.
But rather than stone walls it was surrounded in trees, the stone was pristine white rather than dusty grey. And he was made jump when he realised that there was someone there. Dancing.
"It her..." He breathed.
The (A/T) whom Victor said was a sign of hope to everyone. Except she was much younger. Her fur was a vibrant (F/C) and she moved so gracefully. As if her body was made of silk. But she was ever so slightly blocked in view by the trees and bushy Silver had hidden himself behind.
Nimbly he took a step forward but cause a sharp *SNAP!* of a twig. The (A/T) suddenly stopped looking in the direction of the sound.
"Hello?" She called.
She caught onto a glimpse of white in the bushes and knew someone was there.
"I can see you, if you could come out please." She called.
Knowing he'd been found out Silver gave a little sigh before emerging. She looked him up and down and thought him rather odd looking. There was a stiff silence before the (A/T) said:
"Your not from around here are you?" She asked sweetly.
"Uh n-no..." He stuttered, thinking she'd be angry he'd watched her.
"I could tell from your looks, do you need help getting into town?" She asked coming off as very friendly.
"Ummm..."
"I'll take that as a yes. Come on then!" She beamed grabbing his wrist.
"W-wait! You don't know anything about me! For all you know I could be serial killer!" He tried to reason with her.
Not that he wasn't grateful for her help.
"Well you were watching me for a couple of minutes so if you had wanted to hurt me in anyway then you already would have done so. By the way what did you think of my routine?" She asked bubbly.
Silver hesitated before answering, trying to take in her excitable personality all in one go.
"I thought it was very beautiful."
After that the (A/T) led Silver into town where they were able to find Blaze. And bid the two a due happily going off back into the forest.
"She was the one Victor told us about wasn't she?" Blaze clarified.
"Yeah..." Silver said.
Almost dreamily.
"What's her name?" Blaze asked.
And then Silver realised,he hadn't gotten her name.
"Ahh damn it! How could I not ask her name!?" He scolded himself.
Blaze just gave a chuckle at her naive friend.
"Come on Mr naivety we've got to find Sonic and ask for his help." She said lightly dragging away.
A few days later the (A/T) was at the pavilion still dancing. But she stopped when she heard rapid footsteps. And before she could wonder who or what it was that hedgehog suddenly came bursting through to the pavilion, tripping and landing on his face.
"Oh my days are you okay!?" She asked straight away.
But he was sat up on his knees quick as a flash asking:
"What's your name!?"
"Huh?"
"Sorry, I just wanted to know your name." He apologised standing up and brushing himself off.
"Why?"
"Ugh, it's a bit of a long story." He replied sheepishly.
Not knowing how she would react to hearing her future consisted of her being turned to stone.
"Well in return for my name you can tell me this story then. Besides I've got plenty of time." She smiled.
"Alright." He smiled.
"My name is (Y/N) the (A/T). What's yours?" She asked.
"I'm Silver the Hedgehog, and I come from the future."
"The future!?"
Silver then proceeded to tell her about her future, and how she became a symbol of hope for all those who survived. And that her story was the reason he'd wanted to know her name. But he also told her how he was here to prevent that future from taking place. She listened to it all silently.
"Wow, to hear that I'll help that many people through my dancing is quite incredible." She said finally but quietly.
"You're not disturbed by your personal future?" Silver asked, surprised at her reaction.
"Well if you're here to stop that future from coming to pass then why should I be?" She asked sweetly.
And in that moment Silver realised as to why she was such a sign of hope to so many, as in that single sentence she had filled him with the hope that he could finally save the future.
So from that day Silver worked tirelessly to save the future along with the help of his friends. Yet in between the countless battles against Eggman trying to release the apocalypse, protecting civilians and finding clues as to end the creature that would become the apocalypse for good, he some how always found the time to make it back to the pavilion every night.
And every night (Y/N) would be there practising her dancing, but she would always stop whenever Silver turned up out of stage fright. Which led to him sometimes lingering in the bushes, just so he could watch her. And just by watching her dance he could always tell what mood she was currently in. If she was happy her routines would consists of jumps and twirls, moves that involved large amounts of energy. And then if she were sad she would dance slowly and more gracefully, many moves conveying that she was reaching out towards something.
But when Silver did emerge the first thing (Y/N) would ask is 'how goes saving the world?' He'd then tell his days trials and she always listened intently.
And he slowly learnt more about her. How her deceased mother loved the theatre and was a world famous actor, leading to her love of dance. But she'd never been able to make a career out of it and so came here to enjoy her passion.
More time passed and eventually Silver was finally able to prevent the future. And in turn prevent (Y/N) from being turned to stone.
"So you finally did it!?" (Y/N) asked excitably.
"It was more 'we' but yeah, that apocalypse will never happen now." Silver answered, obviously pleased.
"So does this mean you'll be going back to the future now?" She asked hesitantly.
"Yeah but me and Blaze are going to stay here for a couple of days first." Silver answered straight away, pleased with the thought of going home.
"How did you do it?" (Y/N) continued to question hiding her disappointment that he was leaving.
"Well from some old manuscripts Amy found we were able to figure out that we had to drown the creature....."
And this led to another story. But this one is far from over.
"I'm sorry Silver." Tails apologised feeling his friends pain.
"Surely you've got something wrong, ma-maybe with one of your calculations..." Silver argued weakly.
"Silver you know I don't get things like this wrong, I'm sorry. You can't go back to the future." Tails apologised again.
Today Silver would have gone back to the future, gone back home. A home that would be safe to live in. But Tails had been doing calculations since Silver arrived on a 'hunch', wondering why Silver countless times again and again came back to the past. And it turned out that Silver time traveling back and forth caused a flux in time, creating a new apocalypse every time Silver went back.
Without saying another word Silver ran away from Tails, who decided not to follow. Silver headed to the one place he could think to find some hope. Making it to the pavilion he of course found (Y/N) your name there, but she was dancing sadly. Again she looked as if she were reaching out towards something, something that she couldn't grab.
And at this very moment so He felt just like giving up trying to reach something he could no longer take a hold of.
Revealing himself to be present (Y/N) stopped moving but the instant she saw Silver's defeated looking figure she forgot her own sadness.
"Silver what's wrong!? Are you okay!? Is it the apocalypse, did it come back!?" She asked hurriedly.
"No, it's not the apocalypse." He said sadly.
"Well what is it? If you don't mind my asking, maybe I can help." She offered desperate to see his usual smiley attitude.
He hesitated before saying sombrely.
"I can't go back." He said stiffly.
"Can't go back where?"
"Back home, back to the future." He said distraughtly.
He then gave a brief description as to what he could remember of Tails' calculations. A silence fell between the two after he had done so.
"I'm sorry Silver." (Y/N) eventually said.
"It's not your fault-
"No I'm sorry for being so selfish. I'm going to admit that I'm glad you're not going back Silver, I like it with you here. I like hearing your stories, I enjoy your company and, and... I think, no in fact I know what I'm trying to say is th-that...."
At this point Silver's heart was racing in anticipation as to what she might say. Giving a deep breath she couldn't meet his eye as she said with sheave blush.
"I love you."
Once again, in a single sentence. Three tiny, yet incredibly significant words, (Y/N) had filled Silver with hope. But this time hope for a different future, one in this timeline.
Until now Silver had been so focused on saving the future he had ignored a large sweeping feeling in his chest, which now could barely be contained. And he realised he felt the same. It would take a little time to get used to this new feeling, something he had never had time for.
But he'd manage.
So gently taking her hand he gave his reply. To the girl who never gives up of what she lives, to the girl who will dance until the world ends.
Bonus:
A few months later Silver and (Y/N) were head over heels for each other. But one day Silver had a thought.
Wait, Victor said that (Y/N) was his great grandmother... Which means I'm his great grandfather!?
Would you guys like me to hold a writing competition, with one shots as prizes?
