Silver x reader: Equation
You are a (A/T)
Are you a 'smart' girl?
Various clatters and clangs could be heard through out today coming from, surprise, surprise, Tails' workshop. And inside the young fox and a clever petit (A/T) were hard at work.
"(Y/N) do you know where the electro magnets are?" Tails asked not looking up from an invention.
"Top shelf of the work bench to the left." She replied.
"Thanks!"
A few more minutes passed before (Y/N) spoke again.
"Hey Tails do you have any Earth wires? I want to finish this custom charger for your device." She asked.
"Umm I don't know if I have any, but you could probably take one from the Tornado." He suggested.
"Oh no! Because that'll just give you an excuse to install another upgrade and then you'll find another upgrade, and then another, and then-
*KNOCK!* *KNOCK!* *KNOCK!*
(Y/N)'s ramble was cut short at the knocking of the front door.
"Who could that be?" She asked out loud.
She knew it wasn't Sonic as he always just barged in so whoever it was had manners.
"That must be Silver, he asked to fix his communicator." Tails answered.
"S-Silver?" (Y/N) stuttered quietly.
"Yeah, could you let him in for me? If I stop now I'll have to rebuild the entire section of this device." He asked.
"W-well... Yeah, of c-course I can." She stuttered again.
But as she took the few steps to the door her heart was in her mouth, and she opened it holding her breath. The truth was...
"Oh hi (Y/N)!" Silver happily greeted.
"H-hi S-Silver!" She greeted back a little enthusiastically.
She had a massive crush on Silver.
"Tails said to come round today to get my communicator." Silver explained.
"O-okay, I think he's fixed it. C-come in." She said motioning him to enter.
"Hi Tails." Silver greeted again as they walked back into the workshop.
"Hey Silver, just give me a second to finish this and then I'll get your communicator for you." Tails replied not looking up from his desk.
"Okay." Silver smiled.
(Y/N) stood there awkward next to him not knowing what to do, should she make conversation? Pretend to be carrying on building that charger, or maybe start taking that Earth wire out of the Tornado?
She chose conversation.
"S-so... Umm... What was wrong with your communicator?" She slowly asked.
"Well I was helping Sonic out with finding a Chaos Emerald and all of a sudden it just sort of did a tiny explosion with a little puff of smoke." He explained.
"It was the area you were in Silver, the Tropical Zone has very high temperatures so your communicator basically over heated." Tails filled in.
He then got up from his work bench and started looking for the communicator.
"Well that explains it, I was a little confused as to why it just died like that." Silver chuckled.
"Well Erbium is the element of confusion." (Y/N) joked.
Tails gave a breathy chuckle at her comment but Silver just looked at her innocently.
"Y-you know, Erbium it's... Never mind." She trailed off.
"Here you go Silver!" Tails said giving him what he came for.
"Thanks, seriously I owe you one. We'll see ya Tails, bye (Y/N)!" He said leaving.
"Bye!" She called back.
Tails closed the door after he left and turned back to (Y/N).
"So do you want me to get you that Ear-
"Sorry Tails gotta go! See you tomorrow!" She yelled dashing out the house.
Ahhhh! I can't believe I said that!! I must have sounded so ridiculous. She scolded herself when she got home. She just hoped that Silver didn't think her too weird.
Despite the fact that she felt like she had messed up in front of her crush she still had to get on with life, the next day she realized that she still needed that Earth wire so she went into town and to the hardware store. She could pick up a couple more things as well.
Once she'd bought her items she headed back through town racking her brains for anything else she might need but her thoughts were soon intruded.
"Hey (Y/N)!"
Oh no....
"H-hi Silver!" she greeted her face heating turning to face him.
"What are you doing in town?" he asked nicely.
"J-just picking up a couple of things, you k-know to make more inventions." she explained hoping her face didn't look too much like a cherry.
"Yeah I saw you were working on something yesterday, it looked a bit like a charger." he recalled.
But (Y/N) was blushing even more at the fact he had actually noticed what she had been doing.
WHAMP!
"Waaahh! Mummy I fell over!"
The pair turned to observe a cute cream kitten who had fallen down on the pavement.
"There, there sweetheart. Get up." the mother cooed.
Not hesitating though Silver walked up to the little girl and helped her up brushing the dust off her cardigan.
"Hey there don't cry its alright, its just a little bump." he soothed the girl.
Her mother then thanked him before walking away with her daughter thanking Silver. He himself seemed pleased and (Y/N) stepped next to him smiling.
"That was really sweet of you, I swear your made of Copper and Tellurium." (Y/N) smiled.
But she instantly clamped her hand over her realizing what she said, her blush deepening. If that was even possible.
"What's Tellurium?" he asked sweetly knowing (Y/N)'s comment would have been a compliment.
"U-uh! Nothing! It was nothing! I've got to now!" she yelled and stuttered before she gave way to a sprint all the way home.
Leaving Silver a little confused, not that he minded. He knew (Y/N) often acted this way and it didn't bother him at tall.
However (Y/N)'s behavior did bother herself, as when she once again got home she beat herself up. Damn it! Why did I say that!?
She sunk to the ground with a large sigh resting her back against her front door. I can't keep acting like this, I need to tell him how I really feel. She sighed again at her thought. But how do I tell him when I can barely talk to him, and whenever I do I just babble about elements and science.
Then a stroke of genius came over her, she had the perfect way! Getting up she dashed up the stairs up to her room nearly tripping on her own feet. Making it to her desk she sat down and rolled up the couple of blue prints that were on the desk, before grabbing a plain piece of paper.
She wrote in her best handwriting before folding the paper in half neatly putting it into an envelope, sealing the edge. Now all she had to do was give it to him. Great (!).
Another day came and (Y/N) began to look for Silver, he was very rarely home but she still thought she should try there first. So when she knocked on the door and he answered she grew nervous again not expecting to find him this quickly.
"(Y/N)? What are you doing here?" he asked looking pleased to see her.
"I uhh... just wanted to say sorry for running off like that yesterday, and don't ask why I w-wanted to give you this." she said holding out the envelope.
"Okay I wont ask, thanks." he said taking the envelope, and thanking her even if he didn't know what it was.
"I-I've got to go now." she said blushing heavily walking off before Silver could say anything else.
Silver was left confused again but didn't follow her because he could tell she wanted to be alone.
He then went back in his house now very curious as to what was in the envelope, but when he opened it he was very confused. It was a sum of some sort of sum, an equation.

"What does this mean?" he asked out loud.
He spent a good half an hour looking at the equation but could come up with nothing, giving up he walked over to Tails' workshop to ask him what it could mean. But he got a little annoyed when Tails started to laugh when he read the piece of paper.
"What's so funny?" Silver asked growing impatient.
"All I'm going to tell you is that a problem shared is a problem halved." Tails answered giving him a pat on the back.
More confused than ever Silver went back home and with a sigh and started to look at the paper again, the only thing he could notice besides the equation was two dents of where the paper had been folded both landscape and portrait.
"A problem shared is a problem halved".
Seeing that he had no other ideas he folded the paper first portrait, nothing. But then he folded it landscape and everything became clear. Without another thought Silver ran out of his house and all the way to (Y/N)'s, he huffed making it to her door before he caught his breath and knocked on the door frantically.
(Y/N) opened the door in an instant hoping whoever it was was okay but the last thing she was expecting was to be locked in a tight hug by Silver!
"I love you too!"
"Erbium is the element of confusion." = The element Erbium has the symbol 'Er', and usually people go 'eeerrrr' when they are confused.
"I swear your made of Copper and Tellurium" = the elements Copper and Tellurium have the symbols Cu+Te =CuTe.
