Yandere!Silver x reader: Harmless Games
You are a (A/T)
Knuckles is red,
Sonic is blue,
Will you be my player number 2?
"Right now you need to pot the black ball."
"What does pot mean?"
"Get it in one of the holes."
"Okay." Silver nodded in understanding.
(Y/N) gave an amused scoff at him as he concentrated to the extent he looked as though he would bite off his own tongue. She never thought someone could be so determined at the simple game of snooker.
Hitting the ball more strongly this time he sent it to the other end of the table, rather than into the hole it was directly next to.
"Now why did you do that silly?" she asked chuckling.
"You said to try and get it into a hole."
"Yes but the lowest right hand corner was closer." she told him pointing to it as she chuckled again.
He gave a small grumble unable to understand the game.
"Here give me the cue and I'll show you." she smiled holding out her hand.
"Cue?" he asked handing over the stick that he couldn't understand how to use.
"Its the professional name of that stick, they're aren't that many fancy names so don't get caught up in them."
Taking the cue of him, their hands lightly brushing. (Y/N) thought nothing of it quickly aiming and then hitting the black ball into the closest hole professionally.
"How are you so good at it?" Silver asked at a loss.
"Practice makes perfect Silver, besides, I've had more practice than most." she smirked.
He gave a small chuckle back fully understanding what she meant, as (Y/N) wasn't a regular mobain. She, like Silver, was from the future. However she had traveled back many more years than him, almost a century, whereas Silver had only traveled back 200 years.
In (Y/N)'s time line technology is a mixture of electricity and magic, the future and past being combined. But despite all this knowledge the future wasn't perfect, there was an epidemic. An illness, which once it had a hold of you, there was no hope. No antibiotics, no cures, it would slowly mold the flesh until one would beg for death.
In response to this (Y/N) was made, a synthetic creature with an AI mind, who became organic and learned to feel emotions. It was by learning how to experience emotions that she learnt of empathy and compassion, determined to full fill her duty to cure the sick. And she did so by tracing back the origin of the sickness, back to the time which Sonic and his friends existed.
To the current time where Silver had also traveled back too, who had also returned to eliminate an apocalyptic creature that would infect rather than burn those it touched, a kin to Iblis.
Naturally the two agreed to aid each other, the Sonic gang suggesting the two apocalyptic events were linked. But even when one has to save the future, there is always time to make friends and enjoy themselves. And despite (Y/N)'s mission to find the source of the epidemic, she was very fond of games. Any sort of game, provided it didn't get too sexual or violent, she loved them. Board games, mind games, sports games.
She could never say no to a fair match and she always stuck to the rules. And in a non ill stricken future, in the past where many of the future games originate from, it was candy land for her.
"Now once you've potted a coloured ball you need to pot a red ball again." she further explained potting a red ball "There you go I've lined it up for you to try and pot the black ball again."
"But you just potted the black ball" Silver observed, confused, with there being no pool tables in his future.
"Every time you pot a red ball you need to then pot a coloured ball, you try to pot the black after every red as that gets you more points."
"Ooh!"
With his tongue sticking out again Silver concentrated before smoothly hitting the ball succeeding in a clear pot. He looked up hoping to receive some form of praise, when his ears dropped upon seeing (Y/N) staring intently at her phone typing something out.
"I'm really sorry Silver but I've got to go, Tails thinks he's got a lead on a chemical plant which could have been the start of the epidemic." she rambled quickly headed to the door. She gave a quick wave not looking back calling "Sorry again! I'll see you later Silver!"
"Bye." he called back quietly and dimly, knowing she was long gone and wouldn't have heard.
Glancing at the half finished game of snooker he no longer cared for it, letting the cue clatter loudly on the table. Giving a sigh to himself he sat on the floor back pressed against the wall, not caring very much what he did with himself. Only aware of that same pang pain in his chest he felt every time he saw her leave.
He let his mind drift, mainly thought with sweet thoughts of her, reflecting back on himself. Just like now, when (Y/N) had been so driven to save her future, Silver had once been like that. However now, things were different. He felt his loyalty slipping away from him for the future, and wanting something more for himself instead.
After saving the future constant times and failing, he wanted to succeed with something or achieve something for himself. He hadn't meant for anything to happen, but when he met (Y/N) he was so excited to meet someone who shared the same morals and determination as him. But he had never expected to become completely infatuated with her. He couldn't pin point a time as to when it started, only that right now all he wanted was her attention and to be around her.
To the extent he would want to learn any game simply to persuade her to spend as great a length of time with him as she could. Heck, he couldn't care less about snooker. Deliberately messing up to have her repeat the rules again, fascinated at her patience with him. But his naivety denied him in being able to see the extent of his feelings, if that's why they could be called anymore. It was more a kin to that of a ravenous poison, clouding all judgement, fears and common sense.
And he was completely unaware, that this poison would soon consume his mind.

"(Y/N)!? Can you see anything down there!?"
"Nope! Not a thing!"
Giving a sigh to herself in defeat (Y/N) used her agility abilities to scale back to the surface, emerging from the underground abandoned bunker of the chemical plant Tails had told her about, who was waiting at the edge for her. She, Tails, Sonic and Silver, who had been asked to help them last minute.
"I know this place has been abandoned for years but I just thought it was worth checking it out." Tails explained.
"Nothing up here!" Sonic called down having fun around the top level.
"Do you need anything heavy moving?" Silver asked. He was after all eager to be of some use, but thrilled, or more relieved, that 20 minutes later (Y/N) had rang asking for his help.
"No that's alright, we have to be careful of all the chemicals here. I've had experience with all of them and so I know they aren't harmful on their own but when combined they can become lethal."
She's brilliant at games and she's incredibly intelligent, Silver thought in admiration and love. He knew she could already tell him and play any game, along with her daily routine, where she would go to calm down along with other of her personal preferences.
Silver once again to naive to understand that his feeling weren't love or admiration, but obsession.
Suddenly everyone's attention was taken by a large thumping where Sonic was meant to be.
"Guys watch out!"
At Sonic's warning several large chemical barrels come tumbling to the lower level! Tails and Silver had no problem getting out if the drop zone, but (Y/N) was less unfortunate. Bracing for any impact she knew she was saved when Sonic used his speed to lift her out if the way in time. Silver caught the barrels ceasing all danger, but had to stop himself from throwing them at the sight he saw.
"Thanks for the save." (Y/N) weakly chuckled at him, obviously a tad shaken up but safe in his arms.
"No problem." He smirked putting her down.
They all surveyed the now completely record plant, noticing most if the barrels were empty. And those that weren't only had minuscule amounts in them.
"Well seeming though there's nothing exciting for us here should we head back?" Sonic asked.
"Yeah I guess, but we'll have to the appropriate authorities to dispose of the chemicals. Just in case." (Y/N) said.
"That won't be a problem, I've got a friend who can sort it out. But I won't be able to get a hold of them until tomorrow afternoon." Tails added.
"Great!" (Y/N) smiled.
But Silver remained silent. And had done so since the chemical barrels had fallen and Sonic had saved (Y/N). He didn't care if the situation called for it, that level of brief intimacy had paralysed him.
In that instant when Silver saw Sonic interacting with (Y/N) like that, that he felt that pain in his chest again. And he had finally been able to figure out as to what it was exactly, loss and or longing. It would explain as to why he felt such a way whenever he saw her leave. And now, when he saw her with someone else, no. Someone who was a challenger.
His mind raced with various ways to 'solve' his problem of a challenger. The poison in his mind fully taking hold allowing only the most dangerous thought to occupy his mind. He had nearly killed Sonic once, he could certainly succeed again.

"A new game!?"
(Y/N)'s eyes were practically sparkling at Silver's words.
"Yeah, its on this weird games console called an Oculous rift. But I know you love games so I thought you might to try it."
"Of course I'd love to try it!" She beamed inspecting the consol, which looked like a pair of glorified sunglasses with two nunchucks. "There's tech like this in the future. When a mobian's wear them in and it allows them to control drones. And those drones then would go into dangerous of contaminated areas. And the drones would feed back what was going on through their cameras."
"Well at the moment in this time life it's just a game, and there's a player 2 element."
"Really? How?"
"You'll see when you play the game." He smiled "it's al set up and ready to go."
"Okay then but I suggest you go into the other room so I don't accidentally hit you or something. That and so you don't see me acting like a goon."
"Alright just give a shout when you finish the game." He chuckled.
Once he's left (Y/N) put on the Oculous rift and then a pair of headphones, holding the nunchucks ready to go. Pressing the start button the screen lit up, showing an exact replica of the area around the flat (Y/N) was temporarily staying in.
"Today's technology isn't as undeveloped as I thought!"
In the future augmented reality which contained exact replicas of known locations was more common than rare. So she assumed this game must have access to something such as Google maps.
Just then a message came up on the screen:
'MISSION OBJECTIVE: KILL ALL LABELLED THREATS IN GIVEN LOCATIONS.'
A tutorial then came up telling her to press B to walk, and various other buttons to throw objects and to pick up objects. Following as the game instructed she made the game walk through a few fields and trees when a dusty yellow bird came into view from a distance. The game came up with the instructions: ELIMINATE TARGET.
Pressing the attack control a large rock was thrown at the bird and it toppled to the ground, blood staining the grass.
"These graphics are really detailed even though I'm not up close. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing though.."
But (Y/N) continued with the hand anyway. She found a red bird in the forest which she killed with a sharp stick. Then making it into town she unlocked an achievement to be able to throw actual Mobians. Leading to the elimination of another target, a pink bird, being thrown into a shop window, being killed from the impact.
"I wonder why all the targets are birds? Must be some sort of group."
The ability to throw people came in handy as because the game was set in town now civilian characters became a problem, having witnessed the elimination of the target. Meaning you could move them out the way easily enough. And then came a final instruction. ELIMINATE FINAL TARGET.
There stood a blur bird in a defensive stance looking enraged. But you weren't intimated by the fictional character, thinking this one would be as easy to eliminate as the last targets. But he proved more difficult that the others it taking a couple of throws of dangerous objects before landing a fatal blow.
But as the character fell to the floor the graphics proved too good, bone and blood in intricate detail, the eyes of the blue bird turning cloudy and lifeless. Shrill shrieks and screams being heard. Is that it? That was a rather short game, (Y/N) thought to herself. The graphics laving her feeling rather shaky. She went to take the headset off, not wanting to see the very realistic dead body.
When the game started to glitch.
"What...?"
The game glitched again, the blue bird changing into another figure, same fur colour. (Y/N) stared intently waiting for another glitch, and then the system started to fail glitching spastically, until the image finally changed. It was Sonic.
Ripping the head set off (Y/N) couldn't stand to look at the image any longer, clamping her hands to her mouth in pure horror.
"N-no. That can't be real. It's just a game... isn't it?"
It had to be just a game.
"Silver!? What was that game!?" she called frantically "Silver where are you!?"
Running into the room she only saw an open window, and with his powers he was more than capable of reaching the ground level. Oh God... jumping from the window herself she was able to land nimbly enough, straight away headed to town using the same route as the game. And how she wished she hadn't.
Dropping to her knees she was paralyzed wanting to howl in despair, at the sight of her dead friend in the pool of his blood. Tails, murdered, killed by a blow to the head by a sharp edged rock.
"B-but it was just a game... a game."
The one she had struck was a yellow bird, not Tails. This couldn't be happening, she had only been playing a game. (Y/N) hated to leave Tails like this but she needed to confirm that the other birds hadn't been actual people. Tell the police, tell Sonic, tell him his brother was now gone. But making it into town the horror only continued, she found Knuckles in the forest and Amy smashed into the shop window, both dead.
"This can't be happening... This can't be happening."
She was a rag doll stumbling through town, the sirens and chattering of shocked crowds barely reaching her ears. Until she made it to the center of town and her final and worst terror was confirmed. Sonic was dead. They were all dead, and she blamed herself.
"Silver..."
Surely he wouldn't have given her this game if he had known what would happen, how did he even come across this game? And then she remembered, 'There's tech like this in the future. When a mobian's wear them in and it allows them to control drones... And the drones would feed back what was going on through their cameras', 'and there's a player 2 element'. Could the player 2 have been drone? Or worse...
"No... No!"
Yes she was anguished over her friends, but she needed to find out the truth. Bolting back to her flat she was panting by the time she made it, tears streaming down her face. And slowly, she looked up, and there he stood. There Silver stood. His fur blood stained, and a wrist band on his dominate hand. And (Y/N) recognized it, it was a motion band used on drones, or in worst cases, other organic mobians.
Silver had been the player number 2.
"Did you enjoy the game?" he asked happily, like a child unaware of the damage they had done.
"W-wha... What did you do!? What was that 'game'!?"
There was one thing Silver had failed to tell (Y/N). This wasn't a game. (Y/N) thought she had been playing a game, when in actual fact she had been using the very equipment she had described to Silver earlier. Except Silver was rather gifted in the technology department. Programming the 'game' so that (Y/N) would truly see the people she was indirectly killing.
"Well I thought because you liked games so much I could, you know that saying, 'killing two birds with one stone. You got to have fun, and I go rid of the people who were going to take you away from me."
"What are you talking about!?"
"Didn't you see it? Sonic and all the others, they were all taking your attention and and were going to try and take you away from me. But I love you (Y/N) which is why I couldn't let that happen, which is why I needed to get rid of them."But as he spoke, (Y/N) had slowly been backing away from him.
"You're a psycho!" (Y/N) shrieked, making a bolt for the door to get away from him. But that was impossible with his powers, he had wanted her to be by his side, and he would have his way. Even if he had to force her.
"Why are you trying to run away? I thought you just said you didn't want to play anymore games."
But what Silver had failed to realise the supposed Oculous rift had been a vital part to the chemical plant to dispose of vital harmful chemicals. And because Silver stole that equipment, the chemicals went untreated. They seeped into the ground, which the apocalyptic future arose from, taking the form of infection rather than fire due to the chemicals it absorbed from the ground.
And when the creature was eventually eradicated, it's body lay waste in the earth, allowing the illness to culminate over centuries. Until the point it surfaced, creating the epidemic. It was Silver and (Y/N) who created both atrocious futures.
And now she could never return to her timeline, and never escape him.
She sat in the locked room motionless and silent, and as usual, came that quiet knocking on the door.
"Hey (Y/N) do you want to play a game? You're being really quiet again. Okay, I can tell you don't want to play. I'll see how you feel tomorrow."
Knuckles is dead,
Sonic is someone you knew,
Your new mission is to escape player number 2.
This storyline of this one shot was thought of by a good friend and ironically was a little similar to this video.
