Laying supine on my bed, I tossed to the side of my bed for the umpeenth time with the textbook in hand. Ever since we returned from the tutorial, I'd been trying so hard to prepare for the physics test we'll be having tomorrow but I just couldn't grasp anything, it felt as if my brain was dead and I was getting bored.

Crystal and Juliana weren't back from Ziba's place yet and it was making me more bored. I should have just followed them when they begged me but then I knew there was no way I could spend my time playing around like them, none of them had physics to deal with, Crystal was in arts and Juliana won't be writing it in her JAMB and I believe reducing the closeness between Ziba and I was the best, I wouldn't want him thinking I was leading him on. Gosh! Why did they have to include my least favorite subject in the combination?

I sat down again after seeing lying down wasn't working then I picked up my pen and tried to solve some problems, half an hour into it, I knew I was just doing rubbish, funny enough I understood the whole thing while the teacher was explaining in it class and I even got two of the five class exercise we had but it seemed like the whole thing ended there.

I heard the door open slowly and I raised my head to see Tumi peeping into the room, her eyes met mine and she smiled before entering the room.

"Hi." She closed the door behind her.

"Hi," I greeted as she approached me.

"Hope I'm not interrupting anything?" She queried as she sat at the edge of my bed and I shook my head.

"No, not at all."

She glanced at the book and textbooks spread over the bed before returning her focus to me.

"Is that physics?" She questioned and I nodded before closing the books.

"Yeah, I'm tired already," I packed the textbooks.

"Physics is always tiring but Tise finds it fun, he helps me with it most of the time and if you have any problem with it, you can just go to him," she told me and I shook my head before dumping the textbooks by the side of my bed.

"I can deal with it," I assured her and she bobbed her head.

"But if you have any problems with it, I can take you to my brother," she offered and I smiled at her.

"Thanks but don't worry."

"Okay," she nodded before raising her past questions which she'd been hiding behind her earlier.

"I need your help with this particular topic, I've been having problems with every questions related to it, just like this one," she pointed at the question and I collected the book from her and glanced through it, it was a question on organic chemistry.

"Oh, many do have problems with it but I think it'll be better I teach you the whole thing from the scratch," I raised my head and she moved closer to me.

"I don't mind, I'm free throughout the evening," she answered and I nodded.

"That'll be good then, let me take the jotter I used in secondary school," I told her as I got down from the bed and she scrunched her brows.

"You still have them?" She queried with incredulity in her voice and I nodded before bending down to search for it.

"Yeah, I do. I only graduated last year and chemistry is so dear to me," I pulled out the jotter from the pile of books and her eyes widened.

"Wow, I don't even have the books I used last term," she said and I smiled.

"It's fine."

"Anyway, are you sure I'm not disturbing your study though? It looked like you have an exam tomorrow," she joked and I smiled.

"Don't worry about it." I needed some time off it before and I think this would serve as a past time, I'll return to it later.

"Let's go to my room, it's more comfortable," she offered and I nodded in agreement then she led the way out of the room and I followed her.

I didn't leave her room until it was time to prepare dinner, Crystal and Juliana had already returned and while I prepared dinner, they kept on gisting me about their time with Ziba.

"Can you believe he stays with two other guys? They're so hot," Juliana uttered while I peeled the yam and I turned to her.

"Are they his brothers? What of their parents?" I questioned and she shrugged.

"I'm not sure but only one of them is his brother, the other one is his brother's friend and he seem to like Crystal," she replied and I nodded.

"Oh," I wasn't really ecstatic about the whole thing but they just wouldn't stop gisting me.

"And we ate to our fullest, Ziba is a good cook oo," Crystal continued as she rinsed the rice and I pursed my lips.

"That's nice," I commented.

"He even gave us money when we were coming back," Juliana added and my face lit up.

"Really?"

They both nodded concurrently.

"Yeah, that's the boyfriend material we are talking about," Crystal said and I rolled my eyes.

"It's not always about the money," I told them and they both shared a look before erupting into laughter.

"As if you won't collect it if he gives you," Juliana teased and I shrugged.

"Maybe, maybe not."

Crystal turned to me as she closed the running tap.

"But K.Y tell me, what don't you like about this guy? He's handsome, rich and..."

I cut in, "I just don't like him."

"Then you like Tise then," Juliana said and I scrunched my brows.

I couldn't reply because Crystal's mom called the both of them and sighed before returning my focus to the yam I was peeling, it was much since Crystal and Juliana also wanted Yam and egg sauce. Half an hour later, I went up with Tise's dinner but didn't meet him in his room so, I only dropped it on his table before returning to my room.

After the dinner, I tried studying the physics again but even though I was able to grasp it, I still found it hard to solve many problems under it, I ended up sleeping off when I got tired only to wake up the following morning with the books around me.

Ziba was the one that drove us to school that morning since he arrived early and I sat at the backseat this time so, we were unable to talk that much. Physics was the first class we had that morning and I knew I would end up going home with a headache but this time it wasn't with headache alone but rather with humiliation because I ended up scoring two out of the twenty questions in the test.

Worst of all, I was the one with the lowest score in class and the teacher even called me out and told me to see him later, meeting up with him at the end of the day, he admonished me to study well and gave me the solutions to the questions and that was when it dawned on me that I really needed help. Back in secondary school, Zayn had always helped me with it but now there was no way he could do that.

"Se you'll not hire a special physics teacher that'll teach you at home like this? You can't fail jamb because of physics oo," Juliana told me and I nodded.

"I'm already tired of it gan," I told her and she pressed her lips together.

"Maybe you should try learning it online, like YouTube," she suggested and I folded my arms.

"You think I haven't tried that? I only understand it when you teach me one on one and where will I see the data for that?"

She lifted her shoulders in a half shrug.

"Maybe you should call Zayn, he kuku wants you guys to come back together, you can use that as a leverage or something," she suggested and I rolled my eyes.

"Abeg, that's not an option," I waved my palm and walked out of the laundry room where Juliana was still doing the laundry and I bumped into someone.

"Are your eyes glued together?" Karen hissed before walking away while I glared at her retreating figure, turning back, my eyes met with Tise and my heart skipped a beat. Wait, what's wrong with me?

I turned to the way to my room without greeting him and immediately I entered the room, I saw the book where I'd written the solutions to the test questions and decided to go through it in other to take my mind off the thoughts of Tise. While studying it, I realized it felt like I was only reading it and I couldn't even comprehend how they arrived at the final answer, that was when I decided to consult someone.

Tise.

I sucked in my breath after hearing his response and then opened the door slowly before stepping in with my books in hand, while I closed the door behind me, he turned to me and my lips stretched into a small smile.

"Sorry for interrupting you but are you busy?" I asked and he furrowed his brows.

"Not really, is anything wrong?"

I shook my head.

"Umm...I want you to help me with these problems," I told him as I moved closer to him.

"What problems?"

"These physics questions," I pointed at my book and he nodded before collecting the book from me, he glanced at it for some seconds before returning the book to me.

"You scored two?" He asked with incredulity in his voice and I blinked my eyes. How did he know? It wasn't until I glanced at my book that I remembered we do record our scores and the date in our book.

I smiled shyly and he pulled out a stool for me.

"Have your seat," he patted the stool and I nodded before sitting then he closed the laptop and then collected my book again.

"It's not like I'm dumb, I just find Physics hard," I started and he nodded.

"I see."

I scrunched my brows before continuing, "I'm not a dullard oo, I aced my WAEC, even physics I passed it oo, I'm not dumb."

He chuckled.

"It shows really well, is that why you scored two?" He mocked and I eyed him.

"That's because the topic is hard."

"We'll see," he placed the book on the table before asking for my textbook and placed it beside the book.

"Let's solve the questions first and you'll attempt it again, you need to listen attentively," he said and I bobbed my head but instead of listening attentively, I ended up studying his face and watching his mouth move until he turned to me.

"Are you listening?"

Oh! Goodness, my heart almost jumped out of my chest.

"Yeah, I am."

"Solve this question then," he pushed the book to me and I narrowed my eyes. Gosh! Kanyinsola, you really need to listen and forget about every other thing, understanding physics is your first priority.

I raised my head slowly with a small smile. "Can you explain it once again?" I rubbed my ears and he chuckled.

"I knew you weren't listening," he collected the book before continuing, "Focus on the book this time," he jabbed his index finger on the book and I nodded shyly before paying full attention to what I was being taught.

At the end, I attempted the question again and surprisingly, I scored fourteen and instinctively, I jumped on Tise in excitement, it wasn't until he cleared his throat that I realized the position we were in.

"Sorry," I apologized before pulling out of the hug and he turned back to the book.

"This isn't the best though," he tapped his pen on the book and I nodded.

A few minutes later, I left the room and returned to mine, Crystal and Juliana were Heaven knows where and I jumped on my bed in happiness, fourteen was my best in physics so far.

It's official, Tise is my special physics teacher.
