Chapter: 35
Away from the party the highschoolers weren't the only ones staying up long into the night. As Tony sat at his desk at the Avengers facility dragging holograms here and there, eyes scanning various camera and CCTV feed backs, but all his efforts were infuriatingly fruitless in finding out where the Goblin was.
Sighing heavily he lent back in his seat feeling a pair of arms hug him behind.
"Come on Tony you've been working long enough." Pepper said.
"What do you mean? It's not even midnight."
"Yes but that you haven't gotten away from your computer for three days now."
"Well I've got to catch this guy."
"I know you have to, but you can't do that as tired as you are."
"Just five more minutes."
"You've been saying that for the past three days."
"Yeah well I mean it this time."
"Tony, a couple of hours sleep wont kill you."
"Yeah but it might kill them."
"Now don't panic so much, you've got Happy keeping an eye on them and they've got the fancy suits you made them. Not only that the rest of the Avengers seem to like those kids just as much as you now."
"Fine." he gave up in a huff standing up from his chair.
But just as Pepper thought she had won Tony's phone started to ring. Pulling it out it was Happy calling.
"What's wrong?" He asked Iron dad activating.
"Relax boss, I just thought you might want to see this."
The screen then switched to a shaky video of a high school party taken from just outside the building, and there were two very recognizable figures at the center of it all. As the video played and the figures kissed Tony's eyes grew wide, and then into a smirk of impressiveness.
"Is that?" Pepper began to ask.
"It sure is."
The vedio ended at the kids cheering and screaming and Happy's face came back onto the screen.
"So go tease the kid or whatever you want. I just knew you'd fire me if I didn't tel; you."
"What are you talking about Happy? I could never fire you. Now I've got to go make a call."
Ending the call he glanced at Pepper as though asking for permission.
"Alright, you've got ten minutes and then I'm dragging you to bed."
"I'd better make it count then."
~ Meanwhile~
Giving a large yawn Peter tracked up the many flights of stairs up to his apartment, Ned's mum having dropped the entire gang off home. But he remained confused as to why he could stay up into the early hours of the morning as Sprier-man, yet couldn't manage a party that went onto 11.
Reaching the door he fumbled with his keys hoping the doors creaking wouldn't wake May, but that became irrelevant when he saw he perched on the sofa watching TV with a cup of tea. Her face lighting up as soon as she saw him.
"How was it?" she asking skipping off the sofa.
"May, what are you still doing up? You have work tomorrow don't you?"
"Oh skip the details, I wanted to see how my Tigers first party with his girlfriend went."
At remembering the events of this evening a blush crept to his face, brightly visible even in the light of the one lamp.
"Okay something happened. Was it a big something? A small something? I hope it was a good something."
"W-well we sorta... you know..." at a loss for words Peter made a sort of gesture to his lips.
May gave a large gasp.
"Was it good? Do you think you did it right?"
"I don't know! It was my first time.. you know. But it was kinda in front of the entire party." he shrugged not wanting to say it.
"My big brave Peter!"
"May."
"Alright tough guy I'll stop it. Now go get to bed, you can have a lie in tomorrow."
"Thanks May."
Making it to his room Peter was about to pull on his hello kitty trousers and get a good nights sleep, when his phone started ringing. Although he was both excited and annoyed that it was Tony calling on face chat. Giving a sigh he hit the receive button, only for the situation to get worse when he saw several of the Avengers behind Tony obviously listening in.
"Well, well, well Mr Parker. It would seem (Y/N) is far more forward than you are."
"How did you know? Wait, don't tell me Happy."
"If you'd been attacked you'd be happy he was tagging you."
"I think I'd rather talk about the Goblin right now."
"Nonsense, come on we want all the details and not some shaky camera video."
"But there are no details, it happened and that was it!" Peter said in a hushed yell.
"Well we all know that's not true."
"Remind me again why we have to a part of this conversation." Steve asked from behind.
"Oh don't try and act innocent Rogers you're as curious as the rest of us."
"You know there's such a thing as privacy." Nat contributed.
"Says the spy."
"Yeah but Tony..."
As they all continued to talk over each other Peter gave a sigh and ended the call, quickly jumping into bed. When he phone rang again, answering it Tony just huffed.
"What'd you do that for?"
Ending the call again Peter turned off his phone and went to sleep.
~ Monday ~
"And to analyse a quote such as this I suggest you follow this method."
With the late night and hangovers slept off from Flash's party the students still looked as though they were zombies staring at the board as the English teacher went on about the meaning of various words in To Kill A Mockingbird.
"Now I know how much you all love To Kill A Mockingbird (!) But for the next couple of weeks we'll be looking at a couple of Shakespeare plays to ensure you have enough diversity and further reading for your exam. If you want to go off and read them the titles are Othello, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo and Juliet."
But at the mention of that title everyone snickered, whispered, and glanced at the recent pair. Someone even managing a wold whistle.
"I really hope that nickname doesn't stick." (Y/N) mumbled to Peter.
"Why cause you don't like the attention?"
"No, because everyone forgets that Romeo and Juliet was a tragedy and that they both died."
"Oh yeah. I hope we don't turn out like that."
"Of course we wont."
And the two were thankful that for the rest of the day that for the most part it was relatively normal, aside from the couple of wolf whistles and kissing noises down the corridor, that and Ned's constant fan boying.
Getting home not planning to go on his rounds as to avoid Iron dad's worrying, Peter got a call. He nearly ignored it thinking it was Tony until he saw it was Harry.
"Harry? What's up?"
"Hey Pete, I just wanted to call is all and see how you were doing."
"Me? I'm doing great. You?"
"I'm great too, in fact that's why I'm calling. I just wanted to tell someone that my dads finaly on the mend, he's come out of his lab and is going out and about and to meetings. I don't know I just wanted to tell someone."
"Hey no problem."
"So is there any news with you?"
"Well... I guess there sort of is."
"Go on."
"Well I, I've now.. sorta, got a girlfrief."
"What!? You scared Parker!?"
"Y-yeah..."
"Come on out with it."
Peter was then forced yet again to tell someone else how he now had a girlfriend even retelling the tale of the party.
"Nice going Peter. Never thought that- what's that? Sorry Pete got to go one of the staff members want me."
"Alright call you some other time, bye."
"Bye."
Peter was grinning to himself as Harry was finally feeling better too, he knew he'd worrying about Norman so to hear he was doing better was brilliant. After that call Peter got on with some homework that had long needed doing when he got another call a couple of hours later.
"Hey (Y/N). What's that matter?"
"I'm dying. I just completed goodness knows how many worksheets, catching up after all our fighting crime, and now my brain is mush."
"Hmm, so now's the perfect time to tell you all about how all the chemicals in my web fluid works."
"Don't you dare."
He chuckled at her.
"But seriously how do you do it? School, what little social life I have, school work and crime fighting, how do you clear your head."
Peter thought for a second, and then replied.
"You're going to need to wear something warm."
He then ended the call.
"Wait what do you? Peter?"
But he'd already hung up and she'd been left clueless. Not knowing what else to do but do as he said she dug out her warmest fleece and sure enough Peter was at the window.
"Peter what are you doing?"
"I'll show you, come on."
"Wait if we're going out wouldn't it be better for me to put my suit on to?"
"Nope, no wings, just trust me." he shook his head holding out his hand.
So taking his hand he both jumped out the window, (Y/N) wrapping her arms around his neck he swung a web sending them through the city. But with night having fallen there were still cars zooming by, honking their horns getting caught in traffic. The lights of buildings and bill boards rushing past in blur and (Y/N) was able to take it all in not being the web slinger.
"So is this how you clear your head!?" she asked over the rushing wind.
"Yep! Works right!?"
"If I didn't know I had wings I'd be terrified right now!"
"Think of it as a crazy trust exercise! Hold on!"
Slinging another web the ascended higher hovering momentarily over the blaring lights and city life, (Y/N) audibly gasped before giving a shrill shriek as the plumeted to the ground, only for Spiderman to shoot a web at the last moment.
"What was that all about!?"
"A trust exercise." he laughed.
"You'd better be grateful I don't have my suit on otherwise I'd activate instant kill mode!"
"Activating instant kill mode."
"What!? Karen no I don't want to kill anyone!"
(Y/N) let out a laugh at his murder driven AI. They swung about for a few more minutes before landing on a rooftop and stood still as they took in the view.
"I can't believe I haven't noticed how breath taking the city is during the night."
"You mean you hadn't noticed?"
"Nope, usually too concentrated on not crashing."
"Fair enough, I just have to shoot and can enjoy the view as I swing."
It then in sync both their phones started to ring and it was Tony again, mots likely knowing they were out and about. Looking at one another and hit the same button.
Reject call.
