Chapter 36
"In other news. There has been a noticeable increase in cargo lordosis being attacked in high ways accompanied by a serge in Tony Stark Iron Man suits being sighted about the city. Although it comes out as a shock to some Tony Stark informs the public that there is nothing to worry about."
Peter wasn't really listening to the news much as he munched on his cereal. To blessed outgrow yesterday's events to even notice his idol/annoying surrogate father being announced on the morning news. May was busy too wiping down the kitchen, looking in the tumble dryer and air racks for a decent top to wear.
"So have you got any plans for the weekend?" She asked out of the blue.
"May it's Tuesday."
"I know but I'm just curious. Do you have any plans?"
"Not really." Besides fighting crime "Why?"
"Well, I just thought you might have something planned." She smirked mischievously.
"No." He shook his head oblivious "nothing planned."
"Oh come on Peter, I thought you were smarter than that."
"What? I don't get what your saying May."
"I just thought maybe you'd be planning your first date."
Peter nearly choked on his breakfast.
"Date!?"
"Well yeah you know, not long after a couple get together they'll go on a date. Seeming though (Y/N) was the one to make the first love with the kiss, I figure you should make the next move."
Peter had been to caught up in the fact that he had girlfriend to even start thinking about a date!
"But don't panic Peter, there are no set rules. You do whatever you want when you feel like it."
Too late. He was panicking. And big time. On the way to school he decided to ask (Y/N) if she did want to go on a date, but first he needed to come up with a good idea.
Racking his brain he thought back to any date stories he had been told. He'd been told the story many times of how Uncle Ben whisked May from her strict parents, taking her to her first fair ground. They'd stayed all day and most of the night, May never having tried cotton candy before ate too much and felt sick the next day.
So a fair ground was a good idea but there wasn't one very close. His parents first date had been a walk in Central Park, trying the foods at various stalls. So he supposed that would be a good idea too. But then he also wanted to avoid cliches, and preferably do something that was fun for their inner geeks.
"Hello? Earth to Peter?"
Peter went cross eyed at the Lego figure being waved in his face.
"Morning Ned."
"Really? I call you from the corridor you don't even notice and all I get is a good morning."
"Sorry I was thinking about something."
"Was it (Y/N)?" He asked in a sing song voice.
"Yes!" Peter shaped lightly.
"So what were you thinking about?"
"May said I should start thinking about a first date."
Ned's mouth dropped open as he started to fan boy.
"Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! Can I help you plan something!? As I'm going ensure this ship remains cannon for the rest of your lives!"
"Ned keep it down!" He shushed him "I don't want the whole school finding out otherwise they'll all be asking about it too!"
"Alright, alright. But hey! I have a Col idea! Why don't you ask Mr Stark for some help!?"
"What!? No! Are you crazy!? We'd be in a private jet flying to Italy in the next hour!"
"Is he still sending you love songs?"
"No. He stopped that when he found out about the party."
"He knows!?"
"Yep."
"How!?"
"He had Happy tag us."
"Okay now even I will admit, that's a bit weird."
"Oh trust me you get used to it."
For the rest of the day Ned and Peter would discuss possible ideas for good first dates, things like the cinema, going out for a meal, even clubbing was suggested but quickly dismissed as they were underage and far from social butterfly's. But the best idea so far had been when Ned told Peter
Even MJ in her odd demure knew what Peter was trying to plan, and all she contributed was.
"You better make sure that date doesn't suck."
Nice motivation (!) But even after all that planning and talking Peter was no closer to coming up with any solid ideas. Just a piece of paper with lots of notes scribbled onto it on his bag as he walked home.
Making it into his apartment his phone started ringing, and without thinking he praised the phone to his ear answering, thinking it was May as she wasn't home.
"Hello?"
"What's this about planning a date?"
Peter would have pressed the end call hurry on there and then, but would rather tell Tony he didn't want a table at six star restaurant quickly, than have to deal with his constant calls all night.
"I'm not even going to ask how you know because I know it was Happy. Is he invisible?"
"Nope just very good at his job. But back to the main subject at hand. What do you have planned for you and your little lady friend?"
"Nothing at the moment I'm still thinking."
"Great I've got a private jet you can borrow, or I know some great restaurants around here or-
"No no! Tony! We don't want any of that!"
"Well you're no fun." He sighed "So come on then what are your great ideas?"
"W-well I was just thinking something along the lines of a movie, or Ned told me there's a cool comic book store a few blocks away."
"Yawn."
"I thought those were all perfectly fine ideas for a first date." He shrugged.
"Hold up. First fate?"
"Ye-es."
"Didn't that party count as a first date? I thought you were meant to step it up a bit on the second."
"No that party wasn't our first date, it was a mission to make sure what little high school career I have left was kept intact! Plus we'd only have been together for a week this Friday!"
Peter wouldn't even be thinking about a first date if May hadn't mentioned it.
"Fine. I'll back off for today. But don't even think you can keep me away from the wedding."
"What!?"
But Tony had hung up. A little while after that rollacoaster of a conversation May texted Peter telling him to just come down to the Thai place and meet her there, as she was too tired to cook.
"So how was school?" May asked.
"It was... Okay."
"Just okay?"
Swallowing his food he considered what would be the best way to tell her a billionaire wanted to be involved in his love life.
"I've been trying to think of date ideas all day and I think they're just really lame."
"Is that because of what I said this morning?"
He gave a small nod.
"Oh Pete. I didn't mean to make you panic. I just thought you might want to hang out or spend some time with each other, that's exactly how I felt with Uncle Ben. Before we went on our first date we would just spend time with each other at our houses listening to music."
"Really?"
"Really. You don't have to make a fuss Tiger. Although I know you're keen to impress." She winked at him.
Feeling relief Peter had the resolution he'd been worrying too much. Just then the waiter came to clear their plates and May ordered the usual deserts. At which Peter took the chance to quickly check his phone only to see he had over ten new messages.
Unlocking his phone they were all also from new numbers. Starting the process of reading them all Peter would forever regret giving Tony and Happy his number.
Hello Peter it's Steve Rogers
Don't listen to Tony
The cinema is fine
Dancing. Just go dancing. Bucky.
I met my wife at laser tag when she swore at me for killing her. So that's counts as a first date.
Peter didn't even have to guess who that was.
Don't go to laser tag. A movies fine. Nat.
I vote a movie then meal, gives you plenty to talk about. Just don't go swinging or flying after eating too much, learnt that one from personal experience. And make sure the movies good.
Falcon.
If you weren't under age is suggest a bottle of wine.
Was was Happy sent.
Listen kid don't let Tony intimidate you. His first date with Pepper was basically a glass of wine after the Expo blew up.
Rhodes.
I believe the proper date protocols involve flowers. Otherwise I am afraid I can offer no further advise. The Vision.
I've read your mind Peter you'll be able to think of something ;)
That one was from Wanda.
Peter don't let any of the Avengers bully you. I'll have Happy leave you alone as best as I can. Pepper.
Peter banged his head lightly on the table just as the waiter brought desert.
"Pete wants wrong?"
"May? How long until I can start drinking!?"
~the next day~
Licking his dry lips Peter's were about to get the best of him as he walked to meet (Y/N) near the football pitch, as he was convinced the school was now bugged with Tony's gadgets.
Not having had any other ideas himself last night as soon as he got back to his apartment he found himself scribbling down all the suggested outings from the Avengers, added onto the list he'd already started with Ned.
"Hey Pete." She smiled at him. "Why did you want to meet out here?"
wanted to ask you about something."
"Me too. But you go first."
"You sure?"
"Yeah!"
"Okay well, my dad is always reading the news paper whilst my other dad is always citing out and collecting the coupons. And any way." She started to blush averting her eyes, fumbling with her hands pulling two slips of paper from her pocket "he found some discounted tickets for the local bowling alley. And you know, I thought you might want to go."
Peter, as discretely as he could slipped the battered paper back into his own pocket.
"I'd love to! It's sounds great!"
"Really?"
"Yeah! I mean as as long as we're doing something together, I don't, I don't mind."
"That's exactly what I thought. And I guess it counts as target practice."
"Yeah I guess it is." he chuckled.
"Okay then, how about this Saturday, we can go in the late afternoon and finish up doing our rounds."
"Sounds like a plan! And speaking of rounds are you on for tonight."
"Of course I am."
After that Peter felt like he was on cloud nine for the rest of the day. Even when he was running to the nearest alleyway, getting out of school an hour earlier than (Y/N) due to him having a free period, he had a skip in his step all the way there.
Sneaking into the alleyway he tore off his top and would have pulled off his trousers to when.
"Whoo! That is a nice set of abs!"
"What the!?" Jumping Peter covered himself lazily with his top in hand.
There stood a gorgeously sexy bloke, with a Hello Kitty back pack strapped to his back, he was the sheet definition of sexy and insanity.
"Hey Author, don't dis the red." Deadpool pointed a finger.
"Who are you!?"
"Hey there buddy. The names pool dead. Deadpool."
"What? Do I know you?"
"No As unfortunately the comics didn't come to play in this movie and so not in this fanfic either!"
Peter backed away slightly not sure about this guy. That and he was only half dressed.
"Any way getting to the point. The oh so epic finale battle is coming but I didn't wait 30 chapters for you and Miss Marvel soon to be Mrs to just go on one date. I want moe romance, and so."
Deadpool then dig into one of his pockets and pulled out a handful, of what could only be described as pixie dust! He then blew it directly into Peter's face.
"What the heck was that!?" Peter gasped coughing a little.
"Something to further the plot. You'll see."
Deadpool then shot a graphic my hook gun and shot away.
"Don't tell DC I borrowed this from Batman!"
Peter was utterly baffled but with his chest growing cold quickly finished changing into his suit and swinging away. At least he now had something odd to tell (Y/N).
Feel free to comment date ideas as it may change.
