Squirrelflight lay next to Ashfur in the camp his tail resting on her huge belly, in a few days she would be giving birth to his kits. A tiny paw kicked Ashfurs tail and he laughed. 

"My our kits are fisty ones they will make great warriors." 

Squirrelflight nodded then looked away at the top of the camp for a second a brown tabby shape stood there watching her but it was gone with the breeeze. Squirrelflight blinked and scanned the top of the ravine but he was gone, a small shiver ran down her spine at the thought of the dream she had. Ashfur stood up and nuzzled the top of her head."I'm of on patrol you stay here.""I will always be right here for you." She pured then watched him walk away.

Just as he walked away Leafpool walked up to Squirrelflight a urgent look on her face, Squirrelflight sat up and looked at her with worry."Whats wrong sister?" She asked as Leafpool sat next to her, she slowly bent her head and wisperd in her ear."I'm caring Crowfeathers kits."

Squirrelflight looked up in surprise."You have to help me if the clan knew I would be removed of my duties." Leafpool begged, Squirrelflight looked at her own belly then at her sister."I will help but what about Ashfur?And my kits?"She looked up at her sister with a sad look, Leafpool looked away at the returning patrol.

"It's best we do not tell him, who knows what he will do if he finds out."Leafpool whisperered then walked back the medicine cat den leaving Squirrelfight siting there sadly. Ashfur padded up to her with concern in his blue eyes."Whats wrong?"He asked but all Squirrelflight could do was berry her  nose in his chest.

A few days later Squirrelflight lay in her nest panting next to two kits one was gray like his father and the other a light tabby she-kit, She smiled and purred when Ashfur slid into the nursery and nuzzled her muzzle then he looked down at their kits.

"Wow their perfect."He breathed, but he stoped suddenly and bent closer to get a better look a look of horror filled his face, Ashfur looked up at Leafpool fear filled his eyes. Squirrelflight looked confused she looked down at her kits, they just lay there not moving. Dread filled her heart and tears sprang into her eyes.

"Leafpool, what's wrong with them?"Ashfur asked fear lined his voice, Squirrelflight looked up at her sister fear filling her green eyes. Leafpool stood there he ears pinned back and sadness filled her eyes."They died right after they came into the world,"Squirrelfight let out a cry and nosed her kits."I'm sorry"Leafpool said bowing her head looking at her stomach.

Ashfur rested his head on Squirrelflights, who looked up from her kits and at her sisters belly, Starclan has other plans for me as a mother.
