Nick looked at Carrie and then back at Marcus.

"Jolly old Saint Nicholas." Marcus said for the hundredth time.

"Do me a favor?"

"Sure, whatever you need. We will always be here for you Nick and for Ashley." Carrie said as she covered his hand with hers.

Marcus shot them both a glance that sent them both pulling their hands away immediately.

"Carrie, remind me again why I brought you with?"

"Uh, cause I make everyone feel good."

"Well Nick doesn't like your company."

"I never-."

He shot me a look that made me bite my tongue.

"I'm sure if he didn't want my presence then he would tell me himself."

What's going on with Carrie? She's being awfully weird.

"Well we are leaving. Call if you need ME." Marcus said as he grabbed his keys and Carries hand.

"Marcus. My dad is picking me up, we're going out for ice cream."

"Okay. Call me later." He said as he kissed her forehead.

"Hey Nick?"

I walked over and started making a smoothie.

"What?"

"Can you drive me home?"
He almost gagged.
"What?"

"Can you drive me home?"

"What?"

"Nick I am not going to repeat myself again."

"But you just told Marcus that your dad was picking you up."

"Yes I know."

"But... I'm confused."

"Nick, I didn't want you to get the wrong idea. But I don't think I like Marcus any more."

"Wait what?"

Was he hearing Carrie right? She didn't like his best friend any more?

"Look Nick. He's a great guy and he's fun and loving and he cares a lot about me, but.."

"But what?"

"I don't feel the same for him."

No way... Carrie didn't like Marcus? He thought they were the closest couple out their and one of the most encouraging about love.

"Carrie... you need to tell Marcus."
