Marcus and Ryan had dared him to talk to Ashley today and he never passed up a dare. As he ran to his locker before fourth period he saw her rushing to her locker with Melanie on her heels, yes Ashley is one of the most popular girls in school but Melanie was the one that stood out the most. Maybe it was because she actually communicated with people or just because he knew her from youth group.

He walked calmly over to them and leaned on Melanie's locker door. "Hello ladies."

Ashley shut her door with much more force then what was needed. "Hello to you too."

"Nicholas Krest."

"Ashley."

"No last name?"

"That is none of your concern, thank you very much." She walked away.

Melanie turned to him gave him a smile and a pat on the arm and then followed her best friend.

And that is why no one ever tries to talk to Ashley Hill.

He walked back over to Ryan and Marcus who were laughing their heads off. "Dude that was hilarious!"

"Haha so funny." He said as they walked to fourth period.

When school was over Nick and his two friends went over to Marcus' house where they did homework together.

"Sweet man! You've got a hot tub down here?" Ryan's voice boomed in the basement.

He didn't understand why Ryan was just now realizing that, they all had been friends since they were four and Marcus got this room over three years ago.

"Guys.. homework time." He said trying to get them back on task.

"Oh look at that shower." Nick sighed. At least I tried.

"Nick! You gotta check this out."
He finally gave up and followed his friends voices into the connecting bathroom.

How they could be so excited about a shower, he had no idea.
"Dude look at that shower. It's Glass!!!"

So amazing....not really.

"Guys. Homework?"

"Oh and dude look at the sink. It's made out of bricks."

"I am so amazed,and happy for you Marcus. But guys we have to do homework."

"Man would you chill? It's Thursday and there's an in-service day tomorrow. So no school." Ryan said as he studied the sink again." Hey Marcus tell your mom I'm spending the night."

Nicholas sighed and stared at his friends."Unbelievable."

"Oh my Go-." Marcus started.

"You had better end that with Goodness." Marcus' mom appeared in the doorway with a plate of cookies. "Which it sounded like you weren't going to."

"Mrs. Cook. How do ya do?" Nick asked.

"I'm fine Nick. What a gentleman. See Marcus you two could learn some stuff from him." She said as she set the plate of cookies down and headed back up the stairs.

"So about Ashley." Ryan said.

Nick sighed.

"Shes really hot."

"Dude., you had better not say that word here ever again. My mom would freak." Marcus warned as he took a cookie off the plate.

"Fine, well she's really pretty and smart and funny."

Why do they always try to play matchmaker? Who am I asking? My brain? I'm going mental... that's it I am surrounded by immature matchmaker. And I'm talking to myself. Why am I talking to myself?

"And she's got these crazy plans like she wants to get engaged...like right now."

Nick got back into the conversation, "I thought I had problems. You have to put up with Carrie." He laughed, his poor best friend. Marcus' girlfriend was seriously super tense and like always about the whole marriage thing and she was convinced they were perfect for each other.

"Hey, be nice e to my girlfriend. I love her."

"Oh please. No!" Nick asked.

"She's beautiful and my mom and family love her and she's so nice and she loves me and she loves animals and she loves Jesus and she loves life and she loves nature and she loves Church and she loves-."

"We get it. She loves everything."

"Poor Ryan has no girlfriend." Marcus said as he playfully punched his friend.

"I have a girlfriend, Her name is Alison."

"Oh yeah, imaginary Alison. The girl with the pretty black hair." Marcus said as he flopped on his bed.

"Hey she is real." Ryan said defensively.

"You two let's just not fight."

"Who says we're fighting?" They both asked.

Now I'm in for it..
