Chapter #4

Melanie slammed her car door shut and her mother cringed. "Sorry."

"How many times do we have to ask you not to slam the doors?"

"Its just one of those days."

"Oh boy, what's "One of those days."?'

"You wouldn't understand."

Although she knew she was wrong, her mom understood everything.

"Okay, but if you want to talk just let me know."

She sighed and stared up at the sky. She knew her mom was right. So she followed her in the house and into the living room.

"Okay so maybe you would understand."

"Mhmm."

"Okay so there's this guy at school that I like a lot but he's not a Christian and he doesn't even think Jesus is real."

She looked over at her mom and saw her eyes shimmer. "Honey, your dad was that way too. Until he realized I wasn't even going to consider liking him if he didn't take Jesus as his Savior."

"So just tell this boy that I don't like him because he doesn't except Jesus?"

"No, if he is interested and he tells you. You just need to let him know that you only date and will only ever date a Christian."

Melanie smiled and hugged her mom before she ran down the hall into her bedroom.

If only Ashley saw you,Lord.

Nicholas sat on his bed staring into space. It was only when a pillow hit him in the head, that he realized he still had friends over.

"What ya daydreaming about?" Ryan asked as he swung the Wii remote to play baseball.
Marcus who was right beside Ryan quickly ducked so not to get hit by the remote.

"I wasn't day dreaming." He said defensively as he sat up taller and pulled out his notebook.

"Sure." Ryan said as he swung again.

Marcus flopped on Nick's bed.
"You are such a bad liar."

"Well that's good to know, Because I wasn't lying."

"Cough (Liar) cough." Ryan swung the remote again but this time he some how managed to let go of the remote and it slammed into the tv.

He turned around slowly with a grin on his face. "Oops."

"Not the first time it's happened. I still don't see how that Tv is still alive. I mean if you ask me, after a day with Ryan anyone or anything would be broke or dead. So it surprises me that the tv isn't broke yet.... or that we aren't dead." Marcus said as he looked at me.

Ryan smiled and threw a pillow at Marcus." Hey, I'm such an awesome friend."

"Where'd that come from?" Marcus asked.

"Everywhere!"

Nick sighed as he propped more pillows up behind him and he opened his Bible.

"Whatcha doing?" Ryan and Marcus asked leaning over him.

"Trying to find a Bible verse."

"What about? Maybe we can help." Marcus asked.

"About comfort."

"Comfort for what?"

"Comfort for... me?"

"What do you need comfort for?"

"Oh, you guys know that girl in like all of our classes at school?" Ryan asked.

Marcus and Nick turned to face him. "What?"

"That one girl, she's in like all of our classes. She's got brown hair and she's really smart."

"Oh! Ashley?" Marcus asked.

"Yeah, yeah her." Ryan said. "You know she's your type Nick."

"Is that right?" He asks as he skims over Bible verses.

"Yeah."

"Oh, and what's my "Type"?'

"You know, pretty and smart and athletic and everything else."

Nick shook his head at his friends. "You two are crazy!"
