Your POV

You were too tired to open your eyes, the moment you regained consciousness, instantly sleep called back to you. There was an overwhelming warmth wrapped around you and there was a comfortable fullness in your stomach. Making you recall all the times you ate too much and grew drowsy as a child.

There was an odd yet satisfying taste lingering on your lips and licking your lips there was a crusty dried liquid on them. And then you felt two sharp teeth at the from of your jaw. At that discovery you desperately tried to wake up battling sleep, finally you were eventually able groggily lift your eye lids.

Now accustomed to waking in different rooms you weren't panicked. And by now you knew the scent a decor of a Hunter Society HQ. So you knew you were safe. Especially when you shifted your gaze and saw Amy sat next to the bed, sat staring at the floor in a daydream.

"Amy?"

Your voice only came out as two croaked syllables, but still enough for her head to shoot up to you.

"(Y/N)! Thank goodness you're awake!" She hesitated to give you a hug but fearful of your condition stopped herself "how are you feeling?"

"Like I ate too much and now I feel drowsy other than that, right as rain."

Amy looked as though she didn't know what to say at that comment.

"What?"

"(Y/N) when we and the others made it to Shadow's mansion you were no where to be found. Until we looked in the garden and you both passed out. You on top of Shadow with a bloody mouth and he a heavy neck wound. That was 24 hours ago."

"Is he okay!?"

"Yes he is and already recovered but still unconscious. It'll take a lot more than that to kill him. But I'm sorry (Y/N) I know your worried and that you're probably still a little weak, but I need to ask where is Mephiles?"

"He's... He's gone."

That was right. Mephiles attacked, you transported him and yourself to the desolate zone, you killed him and he nearly killed you. Sent back by Maria it was then Shadow who saved you, by letting you drink his blood. And now Mephiles, Iblis, Solaris. All gone.

"(Y/N) what exactly happened?"

Sitting up you had no problem in telling the previous events.

"Mephiles, he attacked. And I cast a spell."

In simplistic terms you proceeded to explain the events of the desolate zone, how you nearly died and how you returned. And now trying to figure out for yourself that you were somehow here because Shadow let you drink his blood. But how exactly had it saved you?

"Then that would explain it" Amy mumbled hand to chin.

"Explain what?"

"It wasn't just blood loss which was Shadow's problem. He'd suffered from server fatigue and exhaustion. Along with that there was a Chaos Emerald near by. He must have been trying to Chaos Control to you. But of course not being a witch or wizard lacked the magic to get there. Causing severe strain on his body."

So even after going through all that struggle to get to you, already fatigued, be still let you drink his blood.

"Where is he now?"

Walking down the familiar corridors you were in the safe house you were first taken into near the orphanage when all of this started. You however had woken up in the medical bay this time, completely healed, walking not being a problem. But not finding Shadow not in his allocated room you had a good idea as to where he would be. Surely enough you stepped into that different world, entering the glass dome of exotic plants and trees, entering you were surprised to see it was evening, not morning like you had suspected.

Gazing around you weren't too surprised to see Shadow perched in the same tree as before, now knowing of his past, you knew that this was his routine when he felt lost. Except now, you were happy, thankful even, to say that his eyes now no longer hurt when you gazed at them. He didn't look lost anymore.

Not being able to stand being away from him any longer you hopped to the tree quickly stepping up the bark, wrapping your arms around his neck from behind you happily called his name.

"Shadow!"

"(Y/N)!?"

But in his surprise the two of you ended toppling out the tree in a pile of leaves and slightly bashed limbs. Leaving you unfazed you couldn't help but giggle, seeing his surprised and befuddled face like that, his expression however was vastly different as he held a vague glare down at you, currently above you.

"Wow, you're obviously not up to full health yet. Your senses are dodgy as heck."

"I could say the same for you! What the hell are you doing out of the medical bay!?"

"Looking for you." you replied smugly. 

He sighed. sitting up, but not bothering to stand up, content with sitting on the grass. You following suit you quickly found yourself at his side, his arm wrapping round your waist pulling you close. He sighed again.

"What's wrong with you? Mephiles is gone, its all over."

"If only that were true. But I'm relieved beyond words you've completely healed."

"What do you mean 'if only that were true'?"

"Its certainly a relief that Mephiles is finally gone, but I can't rest or think that it is all over. Not when there are still those out there who threaten your safety." he said firmly "But I can't ensure your safety when you transport yourself to the Desolate Zone, that's the only zone I can't access so I know that's where you were."

Seeing that as your cue you quickly explained the spell you used against Mephiles and the spell he cast to kill you. And you would have proceeded to ask why his blood saved you, but he interrupted you lightly snapping.  

"Why did you do that!? I told you I'm more powerful now!"

"Because I didn't know the risks and I was fed of being defenseless! Shadow everyone's been protecting me from the moment and before I was born! I wanted to protect you for a change, and not be so useless!"

Looking down sheepishly at your last words you found your gaze quickly being lifted again as Shadow cupped your face in his hands planting a kiss of your lips.Breaking away he said, almost in a whisper.

"Don't you dare for an instant think that I would ever hesitate to protect you. And as much as you would like to you can't do anything on your own. I myself am finally understanding that too."

"I know, I realise now that as much as I'd want to I can't do everything by myself. And that was proven to me in the Desolate Zone."

"What do you mean?"

"I didn't get back on my own, I-I had help." you licked your lips, swallowing ignoring your sudden dry throat, unknowing of the response you would receive "Shadow, I saw... Maria. She looked as exactly as you describe her. She used her magic to send me back. Asking me to, to look after you...." 

There was utter silence and you knew Shadow would be able to hear your rapid heart beat in worry, unsure of how he would react. Until he quietly pulled you closer onto his lap hugging you tight.

"I suppose we'll just have to look after each other."

Giving a smile you rested your head on his chest but then you caught a glance at the savage looking scared wound on his neck.

"Oh God... did I do that?" 

"It's nothing I haven't done to you." he said brushing the hair away from neck revealing your scars too.

"That was different though, you were nearly dying."

"And you were dying."

"Yes but you didn't nearly kill me."

"If you had been mortal I would have."

"But I'm not mortal."

"Neither am I. And I told you, I am more powerful now."

"But Shadow I'm worried, I don't want to hurt you again like I did. You said you're stronger now yet I was able to hurt you so."

"I highly doubt you'll ever feel a blood lust as strong as that ever again. Plus you being a half breed means you can survive off regular food and blood."

"But Shadow, I feel like a monster."

"Then that makes two of us, so I guess we'll have to be monsters together."

Everyone stood or sat in the same library where everyone had rapidly searched that night over a year ago, accept now you all had the answers.

You had been born a half breed, an incredibly powerful being holding powers that all members of the supernatural community could achieve for themselves. Your parents had tried to protect you from their main enemy Mehpiles, who was an unknown, but they were killed by other vampires. Taken into the custody of Sister Claire. Scourge the Hedgehog tried to kidnap you when you were a child, saved by Shadow there was then order put in place for your protection.

At the age of 17 this order was abolished due to your vampire genes becoming active, and the Hunter Society couldn't ensure the order for eternity. Mephiles had the insane vampire Rosy to kill your best friend Cosmo, to scare off any competition. So you went into hiding for a year, trying to find out what you were. And then a year later there was another killing, before Mehpiles and Rosy destroyed the safe house.

You learned of your true origins, escaping, and being reunited with Shadow, Mephiles attacked again. Defeating him in the desolate zone you returned, being saved by Shadow's blood.

As it had turned out Cream had cast a premonition spell, upon seeing you and Shadow would be attacked she sent her familiar to warn you. Sadly not in enough time. And Shadow's blood had saved you because it contained traces of your magic, being able to survive until Mephiles was entirely dead meant that your powers were returned as you were still alive after his demise.

All of this had now been explained to everyone in the room, but very much like Shadow and yourself now, none could find a true reason to celebrate.

And even after all this there was still the problem of you being widely coveted, the supernatural world now fully aware you were a half breed. As everyone refused to say the unspoken harsh truth, that all your struggles were far from over, they all failed to notice you opening your spell book, her eyes glancing, full with regret, at the opened page.

"So what happens now?" Cream asked, daring to voice the question everyone wanted to know but no one knew the answer to.

"Now. You all forget."
