Chapter 5 : Back Again
Amy's pov
"That's Bullshit!" Tails yelled as he threw the contents of a near by table onto the floor, papers flying and glass shattering on the floor.
"Tails calm down!" Sonic said grabbing him by the shoulder.
I knew this was going to upset Tails but I wasn't expecting this!
"No I'm not going to fucking calm down! He's saying that Cosmo died so some guy could scare off some competition!" Tails screeched in a rage.
"But Tails don't you understand if Shadow is right then we may have a chance to catch Cosmo's murderer!" I shouted standing in front of Tails, praying that I'd make him see sense.
Tails resistance gradually stopped and Sonic was able to lower his hand. He slightly turned the other way looking at the floor.
"When's the order being lifted?" Tails asked his voice stone cold.
"Tonight. At midnight." Shadow said.
"What do we need to do to help?" Sonic asked.
Your pov
Funny how entertaining the ceiling can become when you have nothing to think about isn't it? Giving a frustrated sigh you kicked your legs off the side of the sofa and sat up from lying down before strolling towards your sitting room window. Cosmo's funeral had been harder for you than expected, unfortunately you weren't able to spot that Kitsune at the reception but plenty of people spotted you. All giving there apologies as they knew how close you and Cosmo had been.
After the reception you had simply come home and changed into your (F/O) before dedicating the rest of the day to doing nothing. Although one thought kept popping into your head, tomorrow was your birthday. You were going to 17, big whoop (!) There was no one for you to celebrate it with, you had no parents and now you had no friend. Your mind drifted as your eyes drifted into the sight out of your window, but you gave a violent shake of your head to stop all this self pity. They were the ones who were dead not you, so you might as well try and live for them all.
You then tried to concentrate on the view out your window. You lived in a fairly modern one bedroom flat on your own on the fourth floor, but when you'd moved here you'd made sure that none of the windows had window ledges and that there was no balcony. Just like the sister had suggested. Your thoughts then drifted back to the orphanage and that night you were almost taken and the good vampire who had saved you and left you the cross. In fact you had that very cross around your neck right now still engraved with the same words. 'Be Safe'.
After that night there were no attacks, no vampire dared touch you unless it was one of the friendly staff at the orphanage. Surprisingly you hadn't developed a fear for vampires but had excepted the fact that no matter what species you were going to have the good and the bad. The bad ones killed you parents, tried to take you away in the dead of night and killed Cosmo. But then the good ones watched over you and all the other children of the orphanage at night, and saved you from the bad vampires. And if it weren't for the good vampires then no one would ever have found Cosmo. A good vampire found her bleeding in the street and took her to the hospital but despite the unmatched speed that a vampire has he was too late, but they still tried.
You snapped out of your thoughts when you suddenly wondered what the time was. Looking at your clock it read 23:30 pm. Wow, only thirty minuets left until you turn 17. Thinking about it you might as well stay up until midnight and see what happens.
23:30pm
You sit back down on the sofa having nothing better to do.
23:35pm
You remember to close all the blinds and curtains.
23:40pm
Sitting back down you flick through a random book your boredom not being satisfied.
23:45pm
For some reason you hold your cross in one hand and remember that black and red hedgehog again.
23:50pm
Your thoughts drift back to your parents and Cosmo.
23:55pm
You shake your head again standing up in the middle of the room.
23:59pm
The power goes out.
12:00
As you stand there in the dark your heart beating you dare not move for some unknown reason. In the distance the town clock strikes twelve times, each gong you wish would last forever. But as the twelfth gong strikes it slowly fades away the night is once again silent. And that's how the room remains still and silent so just for a moment you think that it's just a simple power cut.
How wrong you were.
"Remember me toots?"
You sprung into action and dashed towards your front door but just as you were about to reach for the handle an arm wrapped round your waist and threw you across the room. You collided with the wall and fell to the floor giving a large groan. Trying to get off the floor you stood up as fast as you could ignoring the pain but you were barely standing up straight before a hand clasped around your neck pinning you to the wall. Struggling to breath you clawed at the hand wrapped around your neck.
Your captor just chuckled at your attempts. You shot a glare at him his blue eyes locking onto your (E/C) ones, of course you remembered him. Your nightmares wouldn't let you forget.
"My, my the little dolly really has grown up." he said chuckling looking you up and down.
"You'd be surprised just how much." you choked out.
He seemed amused by your response but then he started laughing loudly as he looked down at your chest, his grip became tighter making it harder to breath, your arms dropping to your sides.
"I can't believe that after all these years you still wear this tacky thing!" he said laughing still fingering your cross necklace still around your neck.
Your vision was becoming blurred so you used the last of your strength to reach around behind your back, hoping to clasp your last hope. You gripped onto the cold metal which was tucked into the top of your trousers/skirt which was hidden by your top firmly waiting a couple more seconds.
"It's not like it matters, this cross is only good for decoration now. It won't be able to protect you now." he said his face turning to a sinister glare.
"Well maybe.. this will." you said, your words being barely audible.
And with that you pulled out your crescent moon gun and shot blind hoping to hit him. As the bullet was fired his grip immediately loosed and he quickly backed away gripping his arm, meanwhile you dropped to the floor gasping for every breath.
'Thank goodness it worked!' you thought panting. When you had moved out you'd been given a crescent moon gun which was made out of silver with a brown wooden grip along with the words crescent moon engraved on the side of the barrel. It was an anti-vampire gun, shoot them anywhere and the wounds take longer to heal, but shoot them in the heart or head then they'll most likely die. At the moment a part of you was thankful that the bullet had only hit his arm as you didn't know what you would have done if you'd actually killed him.
"You little bitch!" the green hedgehog growled.
Time was running out and you had to get out but before you could stand up the hedgehog jumped at you tackling you again pinning you to the floor his grip once again around your neck. And as you fell your crescent moon had been knocked out of your hand little more than a meter away from you. So close yet so far.
"Clever little dolly. But not clever enough." he said grinning at once again have the upper hand.
You turned your head to the side to avoid his gaze your nails digging into his hand trying to make his grip loosen. Then he raised his free hand and knew what was coming...
SMASH!
Your window shattered and a dark figure launched itself at the green hedgehog tackling him off of you. This time you ignored your need to breath and made a grab for your crescent moon, standing up cocking the gun you saw the green hedgehog being kicked in the head and as he hit the wall you heard a sickening crack. Then without the warning the black figure picked you up bridal style and jumped out of the now smashed window.
The jump terrified you but then your fear evaporated as the cold evening air filled your lungs and the brightly lit town fed your eyes. Still holding your crescent moon you wrapped your arms around your saviours neck but there was no need to fear the stranger, as once you had seen that blur of black with red stripes you knew that you were safe.
