Chapter 3
I have reached the bottom of the hill, yet there is still more fields. The sounds of nature have only increased since my waking.
I look down at the tourniquet, making sure it is still in place. It is holding steadfast, and the bleeding seems to have mostly stopped. Fast clotting apparently runs in the family.
I plop down exhausted, when I see the outline of some trees in the distance. I hastily get up and start limping forward.
As I get closer and closer, I realize that I have in fact come upon a forest.
I try to go faster to get to the forest when I double over with an unbearable hunger I had not noticed before. The hunger is, funnily enough, eating me from the inside out.
I wonder when I last ate...
All I know, is that I need food.
I look around the ground I have collapsed on, and I see some ants crawling around.
Is this really my last option? Ugh.
I grab an ant, and tentatively bring it to my mouth.
Ew..it's wriggling around!
Before I can chicken out, (mmm chicken) I chuck the ant into my mouth and begin to chow down.
It isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it would be better with chocolate.
Thankfully, they are a food source that is plentiful and has a good amount of protein.
I eat all of the ants in sight, and my hunger has been satiated.
