Chapter 5
It was pouring rain outside. It had just started as soon as Dean had started walking from the coffee shop to the bus stop.
He slipped his phone in his pocket so it wouldn't get as wet hopefully and jogged along the street with his briefcase in his hand. He had gotten rid of his coffee as soon as the rain had splashed into it.
He finally made it to the bench of the bus stop where there was a tin awning over it, keeping it dry. He sighed sitting on the bench and pulled out his phone and sent a quick text before setting it beside him on the bench and trying to ring his soaking wet clothes out without taking them off, but failing miserably.
He sighed putting his head in his hands and he felt a light tap on his shoulder. He looked up and saw the man from yesterday, Castiel, looking at him with a small sympathetic smile.
"Got caught in the rain?"
He asked softly, and Dean could barely hear him over the loud thundering of the raindrops on the tin awning over head. He nodded and wiped his face off with his sleeve, which only spread more water onto it.

"Hey boy! Long time no see where've you been?"
Dean looked up at Bobby where he had opened his front door. Bobby was Dean's only remaining family. He'd showed up here to talk with his uncle, the only one he could talk to right now.
But he hadn't seen the man in almost a year now. He looked at Bobby sadly and rung his hands together.
"I came here to tell you something. I have some news."
Bobby immediately frowned and let Dean into the house where they both went into the living room and sat across from each other.
"Well it can't be good news or you wouldn't be here telling me."
Bobby said and Dean nodded.
"It's about Sammy."
He said quietly. Bobby stayed silent but a look of utter worry and horror came upon his facial features. He loved Sam just as much as their own father had.
"Well I just.. We just found out that.."
Dean wiped at his eyes that had started to water and he took a deep breath that was a bit shaky. But Bobby didn't rush him, he knew that whatever it was, it was hard for Dean if he was crying.
"Sam.. He uh has cancer.." He closes his eyes and tears stream down his face.
"And it's not treatable." He chokes out in a broken sob. Bobby doesn't move or say anything for what seems like forever before he moves to sit beside Dean on the couch and brought him into a hug.
"I know you're strong boy but it's okay to cry."
Dean shakes his head but starts sobbing anyways and hugged Bobby back in a real hug for the first time since his father had died when he was twelve.

Castiel chuckles as Dean tries to wipe his face but only makes it worse. The chuckle earns him an irritated glare from the green eyed man and Castiel only smiles a little more.
"What's so funny?"
Dean asks and Cas shakes his head. He was completely dry because of the fact that he got to the bus stop before it started to rain.
Castiel lifts his arms off of a stack of blankets that were sitting on his lap.
"These are suppose to be for my patients, but I think you need one."
He smiles and hands Dean a blanket. Dean smiles gratefully and ruffles his hair with the blanket to dry it and it stands on end in every direction which makes Cas laugh.
Dean chuckles a little as well and continues to dry himself off with the blanket.
"Thank you Cas. You said patients? Are you a doctor?"
Castiel shakes his head. "Oh no I'm a nurse." He smiles proudly.
Dean tilts his head slightly and really looks at Cas for the first time.
"What hospital do you work at?"
"Kansas county hospital. Best in the state."
Dean blinks in surprise. "You do? You don't happen to work on a boy named Sam do you?"
Castiel looks at Dean confused but nods slowly.
"I'm his daytime nurse."
Dean smiles softly. "That's my brother."
Castiel's eyes widen in shock. "Really?"
Dean nods. "Yep! He's a bright kid. The smartest I know. He was suppose to go to college next year on a full ride until.." Dean clears his throat looking down at his phone and replying to a text.
Cas looks at Dean sympathetically and places a hand on his wet shoulder. "I'm sorry." He says softly and Dean looks into his eyes sadly for a long time.
Dean's bus rolled up and Dean broke contact with Cas as he stood up and gathered his briefcase in his hand. He held the blanket out towards Cas but the man shook his head.
"Keep it. You need it."
Dean nodded folding it under his arm and gave a one minute signal to the bus driver who rolled his eyes but stayed in the same place.
"I want to take you out to dinner to thank you for everything you've done for my brother."
Castiel blinked in surprise. "You don't have to do that."
Dean smiled. "No but I want to."
He took his phone out and handed it to Cas. "Put your number in?"
Castiel nodded slowly as he entered his number an then handed the phone back to Dean who pocketed it.
"I'll text you."
He smiles before turning and jogging onto his bus. Castiel smiles as the bus pulls away with Dean inside.
He never thought that the man who he had sat next to every day would ever talk to him, let alone take him to dinner.

Castiel stood at the check out counter of the grocery store like he did every day after his college classes, only he was on the other side of the counter, ringing people up an bagging their groceries.
He had to have this job along with two other small jobs to keep his apartment and be able to finish college.
A man in a leather jacket with brown hair walked up and set a few things on the check out belt. Castiel rang them up and stared at the attractive man as he told him his total.
The man cursed and looked up at Cas embarrassed. Luckily there was no one else in line, for the man's sake.
"I'm sorry I don't..I don't have that much.. Can you take a few things off?" He asked looking down.
Castiel smiled handing the man the few bags that he had bagged and winked at him. "It's okay. I've got it."
The man blinked in surprise and blushed a bit. "Are you sure?"
Castiel nods and takes the small amount of money that the man did have along with the rest of the total from his own pocket. "It's fine."
The boy smiles brightly. "Thank you. Thank you so much."
He looked like he was going to say something else, but instead closed his mouth and walked out of the store. Cas smiled a bit and rang up the next person.
