Part Four: Just a demon.

Waking up with a hangover wasn't how Lisa wanted to start her day. Then again, after a day like last night, she was lucky to wake at all. She rarely suffered the results of binge drinking and honestly, she couldn’t recall consuming enough alcohol to deserve one.  Lisa decided to blame it on the tequila Matilda gave her.

Lisa got up hoping a shower would make her feel better. As she passed the mirror in the bathroom, she was startled by her own tired, bedraggled reflection. The dark circles under her eyes were puffy and her face pale. She grimaced and scowled at herself. After showering, she headed downstairs with a frown on her pretty face. Matilda was still in bed so she started to clean up the mess from last night. After the fit Matilda had the night before, Lisa hoped a clean house would  lighten her friend’s mood. She heard Miranda come barreling down the stairs as she finished.

The clean house worked. The girls looked at each for a moment as Matilda took a seat at the kitchen counter. Lisa passed her a fresh cup of coffee.

“So, a demon?”

Lisa nodded.

“What the fuck are we going to do?”

“I don't know Tilly. I can do some research online. Do you think you can try and find the library lady? She might know something?”

Matilda was very apprehensive with that suggestion. Clearly, to her,  the fact they had unleashed a demon was no where near as horrifying as finding the woman she had stolen the book from.

“I guess I don't have a choice,” Matilda sipped her coffee and noticed Lisa’s worn out appearance. “You look like shit.”

“Gee, thanks. So do you!” Lisa snapped back. Even with the remnants of last night’s makeup smeared all over her face, Matilda still looked better than Lisa in her current, weary state.

Lisa left soon after. Upon arriving home, she felt the exhaustion set in even more. She made herself some fresh coffee then went to sit at her computer. The extra static suddenly thickening the air had her paranoid that Tasan was there somewhere. She shot up out of her seat and did a quick lap of the house. She made sure all the windows were latched and doors were locked...as if that would stop him from entering.

“Hello?”

 Silence.

There was no reply and slowly, the static in the air began to dissipate. Chalking it up to her frayed nerves and overly fatigued body, she went back to the computer. Lisa was amazed at how much was online regarding demons. Despite her astonishment over the discoveries, her body decided to shut down; her eyelids began drooping and she started to doze off. She jolted awake at the sound of a voice.

“You know a demon, why not ask him?”

“Because he doesn't like to answer questions.” Lisa quickly retorted. “Do you know where I could find one who does?”

Her sarcasm was not wasted on Tasan as he sat on the chair behind her.

“Watch your tongue girl, or you might find yourself without it.” He warned.

Turning to look back at him, the attraction was still there. Even knowing he was not human, not of this world, did not lessen her physical desire for him. Dredging up hidden bravery, she decided to try and get her answers another way.

Leaving her research behind, she got up. Stalking towards him, it was hard to miss the sultry sway of her hips and the rush of desire in her eyes. Tasan continued to just sit there, doing nothing. He gave no indication what he was thinking. He wanted to see how this would  play out.

She bent over in front of him, resting her hands on the back of the chair on either side of his head. Her loose top fell open, drawing his eyes to the seductive curves of her breasts as she came closer to whisper in his ear.

“If you did that, how could I do this?”

Following the outline of his body, Lisa slid her hands down lower, caressing and teasing as she went. When she reached his knees, she parted them just enough for her body to slip in between. Lightly, her fingers danced up his thighs only to stop inches before where he wanted her touch the most. A groan tore from Tasan's lips. Smiling, Lisa knelt down and trailed her fingers right down to his fly.  With a flick of her wrist, she undid his belt and then the zipper, allowing his hardening cock to slip free. The whole time Tasan did nothing, aside from the occasional groan.

Lisa had never shown this kind of initiative--not even in his dreams.  He'd be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy this change of pace.

Her hands gently coaxed him back to full attention and--before he could react--she bent down, ghosting the tip of his cock with a burst of warm breath.  Gingerly, she ran her tongue along the length of his shaft, teasing a thickened vein as eagerly as if he were her favorite lollipop.   Waves of pleasure assaulted him as the entire wet heat of her mouth enclosed over the head a second later--reminding him just why he enjoyed this human form so much.

It was so easily pleased.

The devilish look in her eyes broke through his own lust filled haze, quickly causing him to frown as she smirked and stood. Fixing her top, she turned back to the computer, ignoring him completely. Tasan was left speechless.

Blinking a few times, Lisa twirled around, glancing to and fro to confirm he was well and truly gone. If not for the taste of him still lingering on her tongue, she would have thought it all a dream. Then again, she had no real evidence to say it wasn’t.

“Getting rid of a demon or evil spirit is much simpler than most people would think….” Lisa read the headline of the first web site and quickly clicked the link.

“It's not that easy girl. Those people have no idea.”

Déjà vu hit Lisa hard and she didn't want to turn around. Internally, she struggled to determine reality from the fantasy the demon created in her mind. It was becoming difficult to distinguish between the two.

“Anything is worth trying.” She answered coldly, trying to keep her emotions in check. Fear and desire were fighting for first place in her mind and Tasan could sense her turmoil.

“Why? Am I really that horrible to have around? You weren't complaining last week. In fact, I remember quite the opposite.”

Lisa bit her tongue, not willing to discuss things further. A war raged within as she felt her body betray itself and begin to respond to his close proximity. The need that only he could quench sharply flared in the pit of her belly.

“Let me have a look.” His body brushed up against her as he leant over her to peer at the computer. The tingles that one touch brought caused a million goosebumps to ripple across that side of her body. Waving his hand at the screen, the page began to scroll down. Ignoring the magical ability he seemed to have, Lisa didn’t dare move her eyes off the screen. His head was next to her own, and the hardness of his sculpted chest pressed against her shoulder as he stood beside her.

“Nope. All wrong.” Tasan concluded, yet he had to give the humans credit for being an entertaining species.

“As if you're going to tell me the truth.” Lisa snapped. Her research was going to be pointless while he was here.

“Ask me a question and I promise I will tell you the truth.”

Her doubt was clear, but sighing, she obliged.

“What are you? There are a million different demons out there according to Google.” Lisa stared at him curiously; there were no horns, scales or pointy tails. This only amused Tasan more. One question and that was what she asked. He expected, how do I send you back and since she was the one who summoned him - he would have had to tell her. He almost pitied her for being so stupid.

“My sire is an incubus. My mother was the result of Hades mating with a human whore. Since I  exhibited the traits of my sire, I was sent to the other world.”

“What?” Lisa's mouth dropped open, incredulous at hearing incubus and Hades in the same breath.

“It is what it is.” He shrugged, pausing as he watched her human brain try to understand. “I am what I am.”

“Which is what exactly?”

“A demon.” Tasan didn't think it would be that hard to grasp. His lineage was rather simple compared to some of the other creatures he had come across over the centuries.

“Oh. So what…”

He was in front of her in the blink of an eye, holding his finger to her lips to silence her.

“One question girl.” He purred. Lisa tried to clear the sudden fog that fell over her. Had she fallen asleep again? Because that was the only direction she could see this going. Before she could ascertain her state of being, her phone began to ring and ring. At the intrusion, Tasan disappeared in his trademark swirl of black smoke.

Finding her mobile, Matilda's face filled the screen and Lisa quickly answered it.

“She's dead! The woman is dead!” Hysterical sobbing came down the line and Lisa couldn’t understand what was going on.

“Who? What woman?”

“The one I got the book from. I got to the library and a different woman told me she had died last night.”

“How?”

“I don't know. I already lied and told her I was meant to be getting reading lessons from her. I don't think she believed me, but told me anyway.”

Looking around, Lisa was still alone and she couldn't help but wonder  if it was purely a coincidence.

“Come over, we need to talk.”

“No demon woman. I'm out. I tried and I can't. I'm going home and don't call me.”

“Matilda, what are…” The beeping of the phone had Lisa looking at it in shock. That bitch just hung up on her!

“Don't blame her, she is only human.”

“Did you kill that woman?” Lisa demanded. Tasan materialised with his hands held up in innocence. In response, Lisa stepped backwards, cautiously trying to keep some distance while she tried to work out a plan. Could he be dangerous? Did she need to protect herself from him? For each step backwards, Tasan took one step towards her. Amusement crossed his face as he toyed with her like a cat with a mouse, taking his time to answer.

“Did you know her?” He asked curiously. He glanced at the computer screen as he passed, smirking at the cartoon image of a demon. Focusing back on Lisa, she then entered the kitchen. Spying the knives on the wall beside the stove, she found her weapon. If she could only get to them.

“No.”

“Then what does it matter?”

He vanished again and not taking any chances Lisa ran to the display, snatching the carving knife. Her breathing became erratic as she stood against the oven and waited, prepared to defend herself from whatever attack he would throw at her.

Only this time he didn't come back.

Tasan walked around Matilda's house, taking a moment to look at the pictures on the walls before seeing the skull of tequila. Holding it in his hand, he transformed the liquid into blood. Smirking in devilish glee, he set it back on the table and headed up to the humans bedroom.

The sound of the front door opening had him running back down the stairs. He watched as the crying girl went to the kitchen and pulled out a shot glass. Sniffling, she wiped her eyes with the sleeve of her shirt and looked around. Her eyes landed on the skull.

“What the hell?” Matilda started sobbing again. She took loud, gasping breaths which only excited the invisible demon watching her.

Sniffing the bottle she screamed. She dropped it and then watched as the thick, red liquid oozed from the glass. Grabbing her phone, she tried to call Lisa and to her horror, the device turned off and as the rain started again all the lights started flickering.

“Go away!” She started to scream, hoping at least the neighbors would be able to hear her and come to see if she was OK.

“Go away? I just got here.” Tasan teased appearing in front of her.

Matilda hesitated for a second then ran screaming to the front door.

‘Of course they run.' He thought, bored already. He materialised in front of the door, blocking her escape. Matilda turned and made a run for the back door. Again, he was there to stop her.

“Please, leave me alone!” Matilda fell to her knees, prepared to go straight to begging.

“I could do that, only I don't want to.”

His hand tightened around her throat and lifted her body like it was nothing. Matilda froze as her feet dangled from the ground, shock taking over her will to fight. Struggling to breathe she tried slowly began clawing at his arm, only there was no relief provided.

Opening his mouth, Matilda's eyes widened as a black smoke began to emerge like a claw towards her. She couldn’t think, she couldn’t feel; left staring at whatever it was that was coming for her.

“No!” She managed to gasp, and Tasan stopped. The smoke instantly disappeared and Matilda was hesitant to feel relieved.

“Witch?”

He dropped her, not believing his luck. He had to kill the first one in order to rebuild his form in this world, but if he could keep this one to feed off it would be hard for him to be put into a weak enough state and be sent back.

“You're a witch?” He asked again, his patience leaving him.

“No? I promise I'm not.” Matilda cried.

“I know the girl didn’t have the power in her, someone else had to bring me out. Like they used her and…” ‘Or she used them’ He thought, his face lighting up in a devious smile and he left Matilda alone. She could live for now, just like her friend, she had just become useful to him.

-

Tasan went back to Lisa’s room and grabbed the dead witches book. It didn’t take Lisa long to sense his presence and she grabbed the knife from where she left it beside the computer.

“Put that down, stupid girl.” With a wave of his hand the knife was flung into the wall opposite her and he flicked through the pages of the book curious about what it had in it.

“Say this.” He passed it over to her and Lisa shook her head.

“Last time I said something from this, you appeared.”

“Do it or the twins die.”

Clicking his fingers they appeared motionless, completely still as if they were statues. Lisa instantly ran to them and tried to wake them up, but they didn't even flinch.

“Now read.” He warned. Lisa felt the hopeless of the situation wash over her. Even if she did as he said, it didn’t mean he wouldn’t hurt them or that he already had.

Tasan growled, it was a meaningless spell. All it would was conjure a bad storm, something that shouldn’t make Lisa wary enough not to read from the book again.

“Et immittam furorem meum in caelis, et mandavero et de inferno.”Lisa looked at the twins, before glancing around incase something else decided to appear.

Nothing happened.

“Again.” This time when Tasan clicked his fingers, Matilda appeared only unlike the twins she was hysterical. She moved to run to Lisa and Tasan held her back, holding the book out to Lisa again. With a brief glance at the frightened Matilda, she sighed and said the words.

“Et immittam furorem meum in caelis, et mandavero et de inferno.”

Barely seconds later, the largest clap of thunder they had ever heard had the windows rattling and both girls screamed. Tasan ran to the windows and looked out. The heavens really had opened with hell and lighting danced over the sky like a new years firework display.

Lisa had just proved his theory correct.

“I love this world.” He disappeared with the twins - and the book.

“What the hell is going on?” Matilda screamed, grabbing onto Lisa and shaking her shoulders roughly.

“I really have no idea.” She shared with Matilda what she knew so far and her friend was still not willing to believe any of it. What she did believe, she blamed solely on Lisa and before they said something they regretted, Lisa put her to bed.

Matilda’s exhaustion put her to sleep easily. Lisa sat in the corner of the room, not willing for either of them to be left alone. Outside, the storm only seemed to get worse and the only thing Lisa knew for certain was that they needed to get the book back in their control.
