Ralton

Ralton was a slightly bigger town than Simone had been. The merchant and his family gave him directions to the Inn he was told to visit - by Shin - and they parted ways. He felt a little sad to be leaving them since they spent so much time together the last couple of days, but he knew they had their own jobs to do and he had his.

Once at the Inn he met with the owner lady and upon Shin's instructions he gave her his name and asked for a room for the night.

"So you must be a student of his. What brings you all the way out here?" She asked, leading him towards a room.

"Well, basically, I'm going to the capital to become a knight. There is something important I need to do and becoming a Knight is the first step," he said honestly. She looked him over.

"I hope Shin didn't push a young boy like you into something like this. Maybe you should wait a few more years," she mumbled, stopping at a door.

"I can't afford to wait any longer, this is something I chose to do myself. I meet the required age limit and I know this won't be easy. Just cause I'm young doesn't mean I'm weak or fragile," he mumbled.

"Shin's got himself an interesting disciple," she said and opened the door for him. "This is your room tonight, breakfast is served at 8AM. I owe Shin a debt so this is on the house," she added. She left before he could protest. So that must be why Shin sent him to this specific Inn. He did feel a little bad that Shin chose to use her debt on him instead of himself.

He set his bag next to the bed and after taking off all his weapons and cloak he laid down on the bed. He stared at the ceiling wondering if what he was doing would seem as crazy to others as it seemed to him. Not that it mattered anymore, it was already too late to turn back and he had promises to keep. He turned to his side and sighed, before closing his eyes to sleep.

In the morning the smell of freshly made eggs, syrup and meat woke him from his slumber. Yawning he got up and re-equipped his things before heading down to breakfast. There were quite a few other customers there and as he came down from the stairs they curiously went silent and stared at him. Trying to ignore it he found a seat. They eventually lost interest or pretended to when the Inn Lady came to get his order.

Not knowing what to order he asked her to choose. After all this was on the house and he didn't want to over do it or take advantage of her kindness. She smiled at him and put her pad and pen away. When she came back out she had a large breakfast bowl and a side plate of pancakes. It was a lot of food and it got the others' attention too.

"One, everything breakfast bowl and a side of chocolate chip pancakes. Hope you brought your appetite," she said and he just stared at her.

"You enjoy messing with me don't you?" He mumbled then turned back to his food. He mixed the large bowl up and then decided to give it a try so as not to waste all of the food. The bowl had eggs, cheese, sausage, bacon, ham, peppers, and various seasonings he couldn't discern. The pancakes were chocolate chip pancakes with honey like syrup and butter on top. It was all delicious and he managed to eat all of it.

Once done eating he stood and took the dishes up to the counter and asked if he could wash them himself. He hated having all of this for nothing so he wanted to do something in return. The waitress at the counter let him do the dishes for a while and then once it was time for him to head off he said good bye to them all and thanked them for letting him stay.

Before he left, the Innkeeper stopped him and handed him a wrapped lunch. He tried to refuse and she told him to take it and to stay safe on the rest of his journey wherever it takes him. Giving in, he nodded and accepted the lunch from her then he started on his way towards the city's Southern Entrance.

A few blocks away he saw some guardsmen rushing about and seemed to be in a hurry. Curious, he decided to follow them to see what was happening.

"What's going on, someone came and told me to follow them without explaining a thing?" A guard asked as he hurried to join the other three.

"We've got word that some more bandits have attacked another carriage leaving town this morning. It's already been 20 minutes since the report came in," the other replied and they continued to hurry. Of course he followed them until they said exactly where the attack was. He then rushed ahead of them worried it might be the Merchant and his family, who were supposed to be heading that very direction.

When he came upon the location mentioned he drew his sword and got between the Bandits and the merchants. When he heard his name in a small boy's voice he knew his fears were justified. It was the Merchant and his family. The Bandits backed off a little, eyeing him up and waiting to see what he'd do.
