CHAPTER 6: The party
"You are no fun Jady." Blair complained, banging her desk.
"It's not my problem that you're making me wear this weird thing that doesn't even suit for a party." I yelled on the computer screen.
"People dress up like that all the time, don't be a whiny baby." she yelled back.
I sighed heavily, controlling my anger toward my best friend which I was hating right then. I mean seriously, who wears such a slutty dress to their first college party. I am not a person to judge but it's better to pick a simple yet stylish dress for a first time.
"God Jady, wear what you want." Blair snapped out, banging her desk again.
"Oh I will." I mocked her but before I could say something more, she logged off from Skype.
Ahhh, attitude huh Barbie?
I stomped my feet on the ground and thought, “What am I going to do now?"
You see, we have our fresher's party tonight and I was searching for a person who could suggest me what to wear. You already know what happened with Blair, she ordered, yes ordered me to wear this exposing black leather dress which I don't even have with me. It was given to me as a gift from her but I decided to leave it home because I knew it was of no use to bring such a dress with me and waste the space in my luggage. And I couldn't even tell her that it's not with me, she'll cry over it, I don't want to break her heart.
I called Jess but she was busy with some college assignment and settling with her new roommate so I decided it would be better to leave the girl alone to get along with new people. And the best suggestion was by my dearest guy Dillan, even when I didn't ask for his help. He opened my closet like a pro and came out to be an amateur. He asked me to wear sweatpants and the most casual shirt I had. And the reason behind this causality, because he didn’t want me to get into trouble because of wearing an attractive dress.
To be honest, it was kind of sweet of him. It's nice to know that someone's that protective over you!
I jumped on my bed and laid down.
"What do I do?" I said to myself. I have always been very picky when it comes to clothes. I can't even choose my own dress, let alone of others.
"Hey Cookie, are you in?" Granny's soft voice called from outside my room. I hurried to open it and saw her smiling at me.
"What happened Gran?" I asked, shocked by her sudden appearance.
"You are going to a party tonight, right?" she smiled; I stepped aside to give her some room to enter in.
"Yeah." I sighed and motioned to my messed up bed with clothes on it, “As you can see."
"Aw poor kid. If you don't mind, may I help you?" she said, smiling brightly at me.
Not to be judgemental but I was taken aback by her words. Was I really going to take help of a sixty years old lady to decide a dress for a college party? Don't the kids say that never trust your parents or any elder when it comes to fashion? Should I take her help? But when I turned my attention to her and came across her bright and giddy expression that was waiting for me to say 'yes' for the help, I couldn't stop myself from doing anything else.
"Sure."

"Well, not trying to flatter you but you look good." Dillan complimented, looking at my attire.
"Thanks Dilly. You look great as well." I grinned, happy in what I was dressed in.
He shrugged his shoulder casually and walked to the car, followed by me.
You know what? Do hell with the kids who say that elders suck at fashion. Granny is such a fashionista. She went through almost all my clothes and then made a fixed decision to dress me in a pink coloured dress which had a thin silver belt on high waistline. It actually suits the occasional and doesn't look too much.
I am so taking fashion suggestions from her now!
We reached the venue of the party and entered in. The party was unlike any teenage party with drunken kids, making out couples or total strangers but there was a different class in this one. It was organized in a proper club and not in someone's house. The dressing sense of the people here was different as well.
Long story short, this was such more mature.
"Dillan." Ashton called from far away.
"Ashton." Dillan replied. Okay, what's with the weird greeting?
Ashton's eyes went to me and said, “Oh hi Jade."
"Hey Ashton." I greeted with a smile. I could sense a difference in his behaviour. He wasn't the same arrogant Ashton from high school, he had changed and that too in a positive way.
"I'll catch up with you guys later, have fun." he announced and turned around to walk to his group of friends.
Dillan tilted his head in my direction and without even looking at him; I could tell that he wanted to go with his brother as well.
"Go." I said calmly.
"Really? Won't you be alone then?" he asked, concern was audible in his tone but the happiness was taking over it.
"I'll find someone to talk to. You go have fun." I smiled, looking at him.
His face lighten up and a bright smile plastered on his face. He kissed my forehead and said before walking away, “Thank you Jojo."
I watched him walk to the bar table where tons of guys were sitting and enjoying their time. I sighed and looked around to find any familiar face but was failed.
Swinging my hands on my side, I begin to walk around the club. A couple, who were on the urge to rip off each other’s clothes, came in my direction, not even making their mouth of each other and bumped into me. Due to the stupid couple, I lost my balance and expected to fall on my back but then someone grabbed me from behind, preventing me from falling on my butt. Turning around, I saw a damn good looking guy smiling at him. His eyes were twinkling green and his blond hair seemed like a hurricane hit it, so messed up. But he still looked great.
"Um.sorry and thank you." I murmured, looking at the couple who were now jumping on someone else.
"No problem." he said in a British accent. Can you be much more attractive than this boy?
I smiled at him, not knowing what to say.
"You are a freshman?" he asked, walking to the bar stool on our side, indicating me to follow him and I did.
"Yeah, how do you know?" I sat on the stool and turned my head to his charming one.
"Because if you were here before, I couldn't forget such a beautiful face." he flirted but not in a creepy manner so I decided to reply it with a smile. “What’s your name? If you don't mind my asking."
"Jade Newly, yours?"
"Ian" he answered.
"What year are you in?" I asked.
"I'm a sophomore but now I wish I was a freshman." he smirked, taking a sip from his beer jug.
"Nice one." I commented and looked around. “It was nice meeting you Ian, see you around."
"That you will, love." he chuckled. I got up from my seat and began to walk around again. On my way, I saw a random guy smirking creepily at me so I decide it would be better to sit on one place and spend the rest of the night because there were many drunkards here and moving aimlessly will only cause me to become their victim.
I came across a much appropriate place and hurried to the stool.
"What would you like to drink?" the bartender asked me, leaning on the counter.
"Nothing." I said which came out to be much of a question.
But then, the guy sitting on my side with his back to me sighed heavily and walked away. Even though I didn’t see his face but I immediately knew who the guy was...
Ryan.
And he was trying to avoid me? He walked away just because I sat next to him? Am I that unbearable to him now? Even when he was the reason for the break up?
I frowned. That night was so much like this one. We were in a party that night as well. We were happy before but after that party, everything changed....
"There isn't any reason to yell Ryan! You are the one who caused it, not me so stop talking to me at such high tone" I shouted, watching him furious. Why was HE furious? Wasn't he the person to cause this all?
"I told you a hundreds of time Jade, it wasn't what it look like." he yelled again.
"Really? You are going to say 'It wasn't what it look like' and expect me to buy your lie? No Ryan, that isn't expectable, at least it wasn’t from you." I cried out, a tear making its way through my cheek.
"Now you're crying." he sighed, throwing his hands in exaggeration."I told you I was drunk Jade, can we just drop it now?"
I gasped internally at his words. How could he? How can he even expect me do 'forget' that.
"No we can't." I shouted, “Okay, you were drunk and kissed her in front of me, have you ever seen me kissing around guys when I'm drunk? There is a way to control your emotions Ryan. If you were dedicated to this relationship as I am, then you couldn't have even thought of doing anything like that."
"God, you're making it such a big deal Jade. You're so damn stubborn." he grinded his teeth together, showing his anger.
"I'm not stubborn, you're a cheater." I announced intimately.
Ryan turned to me, his eyes red and puffed as I have noticed it has been like this from a few days. He took a step closer to me and ran his fingers through his hair. I was on the edge to burst into tears but I controlled myself, I can't look weak in front of this jerk.
"You know what, I can't do this any longer." he announced and rushed to the door with heavy feet, crashing the nearby vase.
The vase broke into million pieces, just like me.
