Chapter 32🌻
Derinsola's POV
“What the hell is this?!” I spoke, completely ignoring the fact that I had used such language in front of my staff.
“Meeting is suspended.” I announced with a stern voice as I stood up, walking out the door with the tablet in my hands.
I immediately headed for my office and slammed the door behind me, going to my seat and fixing my eyes on the tablet once again.
As much as I wanted to deny it, this wasn't a mere coincidence.
It was orchestrated by my Dad.
I zoomed in on the picture and I had to say, it did look like we had an intimate relationship.
Well, Shit!!
I immediately picked up my phone and called my friend, who I hadn't spoken to in a while.
“Wow!! You finally had time for me, after your love scandal. You little rascal” Kola spoke with a small laughter as I frowned at his words.
Terrible rhyming and, this was so not the time.
“How did you see this?!” I asked him as he still continued with his mocking chuckle.
“It was Peter. He had gotten it from that swindler lady, who got it from her friend..... It's kinda a long line” Kola rambled as I bit my lip.
Well, shit!
I immediately hung up the call and dialled another number.
The number rang for a while before it finally answered.
“Yeah?!” He asked rudely as I clenched my fist at the sound of his voice.
“I sent something to you. Take it down” I told him as he let out a snicker.
“Why would I do that?!” I heard his emotionless voice.
“Because if you do this, I'll owe you one. Just fucking take it down” I told him as I heard him sigh.
“Fine.”Clement spoke as he immediately hung the phone up.
He was the technical genius in our team but it was quite sad he was sorta cut off, due to what happened with Lola.
The others still spoke to him, but it was only once in a while.
I could have easily called someone else from the company, but I trusted him to do it faster.
I sighed before reclining on my seat.
I was supposed to leave for Lagos today but something really important came up, and I found myself stuck here, once again.
I remembered Kola's words.
Peter had gotten the link from Lola. Were they still together?!
What would she think after seeing me on the internet with Eliza?
Thoughts clouded my head as I sucked in a deep breath.
Things were so messed up.

Lola's POV
“You staring at it, wouldn't change what's written there, Lola.”I heard Kosi speak with an eye roll.
“Let her be. She's a bit shocked.”I heard Tunmise respond.
“It's fake news, Lola. Have fate in Derin” Tunmise spoke as I looked up from the screen and stared at both of them in confusion.
“Uhn?!” I asked in confusion.
“Why are you still staring at the blog?!” Kosi asked as I rolled my eyes at her words.
“I'm reading an online book, Kosi!” I told her as she stood from her chair and headed towards me, glancing at my phone screen.
“This book is written in Korean, Lola. You don't even know the Hangeul” Kosi reminded me as I stared at her blankly.
Busted!!
Honestly, I was still in deep thoughts.
I had remembered advising Derin to get a girlfriend for real. But I didn't imagine it would happen so soon.
The girl he held in the picture, was extremely pretty an looked real classy.
She looked like one of those rich heirs, like he was.
I felt really sad about this, but I tried to push the thoughts aside.
I couldn't mop about him forever. It was now quite evident everything was done between us.
So, I was going to live my life and forget about whatever shit happened in the past.
“Okay, fine. I'll switch my phone off” I told them as I immediately switched my phone off before staring at both of them with a look that says ʼhappy?!ʼ
Kosi nodded, going back to take a sit.
Kosi suddenly heard a buzz from her phone and picked it up.
A smile spread across her face as she looked at the text.
It was definitely from Kachi.
“So, you said something about a birthday?” Tunmise asked me as I immediately smiled at the thought that crossed my head.
“Yeah. My birthday is next Saturday and....” I told Tunmise as she stared at me expectantly.
“And what?!” She asked curiously.
“I want to go clubbing. We can go on Friday night and comeback on Saturday morning” I told them chuckling at my idea.
I wanted to let loose.
Fuck the other gender.
“Have you lost your mind?! You want to spend your day nursing hangovers and headaches?!” Kosi asked like I had grown two heads.
Exactly.
“Yes” I told her as she shook her head disappointedly.
“Come on, Kosi. I am always at work, or home thinking about impossible relationships. I deserve a night out. You know, drinking, dancing, one night stands... okay maybe just make out sessions but you know what I mean” I tried to convince her as she sighed looking at me with concern.
“You just want to do this, to get this blog thing off your mind. I'm sure you wouldn't want to spend your special day like that” Kosi told me as I face palmed.
That's not true.
“It's been a while I've let loose, Kosi. I can't remember the last time I was at a party. I really want this” I told her as I snapped my head towards Tunmise.
“Don't look at me. I love going clubbing but she has a point” Tunmise spoke as I glared at her playfully.
“Fine, let's go clubbing but no excessive drinking , Lola. Your mother would want to spend the day with you too. And definitely no one night stands” She spoke as I frowned.
Way to suck the fun out of things.
“It's not even your birthday.” I muttered under my breath as she shoots a glare at me.
“You say?!” She asked as I shook my head, denying I said anything.
“Well, good. I know the perfect club” Tunmise spoke as I looked at her with an excited smile.
We are doing thissss!!!
“Oh, Kachi asks if he can come?!” Kosi asks as I rolled my eyes.
“Would he listen if I say no?!” I ask her as her fingers tap their way across her phone screen.
“He says no”Kosi replied letting out a laughter.
“He said, and I quote 'Peter and I are both inviting ourselves. Sorry, not sorry'” Kosi read out as I sighed.
Peter?!
What the heck?!
I still felt bad for rejecting him like that.
Oh well, he was my friend after all.
It's the least I could do.
“Tell him I said 'Fuck youʼ”

Derinsola's POV
“Aderinsola!! You came by today” I heard my mum exclaim engulfing me in a hug.
“Where's Dad?!” I asked a bit rudely as she pulled away and looked at me in concern.
“Is anything the matter?! Did he do anything?!” My mother asked as I scanned the area for my dad.
“He is in his study” My mother told me, giving up on expecting an answer for me.
“Thank you. I'll talk to you about later” I told her, feeling a bit bad for my rude behaviour.
I took long strides towards my dad's study and opened the door, with a pissed off expression on my face.
“Dad! What the hell was that stunt you pulled off?!” I asked forgetting about any language etiquette.
“Derin?!” He asked before turning towards me.
“That is no way to talk to your father” He spoke as I tightened my fist in anger.
“Look Dad, I have done absolutely everything I can for this company. I sacrifice my time, my sleep, my social life and everything for this company. And you think that isn't enough, then you create some stupid tabloid, talking about me dating your friend's daughter, and I know this is for the company as well.”I spoke, as calm as I possible could.
“I mean, cut me some slack. I have a girlfriend and you know that. You want me to sacrifice that too?!” I asked as he looked at me in astonishment.
“Derin, you really shouldn't....” He started off in a stern tone but I immediately cut him off.
“You know, I knew how much Doyin's death affected you, and I tried to fulfil all your wishes, so you won't feel her absence but.... I think I am done doing that.”I revealed as he looked at me, completely taken aback.
I never talked about my twin, but I had to today.
I turned around and headed towards the door.
But I turned to face him once again.
“By the way, I'm heading back to Lagos tomorrow.”I concluded walking out the door but I paused when I saw my mother standing outside, looking at me with a sad smile.
She immediately took my hand and led me out the door.
“I'm so sorry, about you father, Derin. I should have tried harder to stop him. I feel bad we made you feel that way” She spoke as her eyes watered up.
Shit!!
I hated seeing my mother cry.
“It's not your fault, Mum.”I told her, with a soothing voice as I held her shoulders comfortingly.
“Derin, I don't want to sound like I'm taking your father's side but he is just trying to preserve all his life's work. I know he's pushing you too hard but he loves you, and honestly, he only set you up because he thought you were only dating Lola because of Deborah.”She spoke as I inhaled at her words.
“I understand” I told her as she hugged me again.
“Your father and I love you, Derin. Don't forget that” She spoke as I nodded, pulling away.
I knew that.
“And, you should really go back to Lagos and explain things to Lola. I'm sure she must be confused and upset” She spoke as I nodded.
Or she was on multiple dates with my best friend.
“And bring her to the company's party, would you?! I would love to see her” She spoke as I nodded again.
I would try.
“I will. I have to go now, mum. I'll see you soon” I told her as I walked towards my car, getting in immediately.

~Three days later and now in Lagos~
I hadn't told anyone, I had arrived yet.
But as soon as woke up in the hotel the next morning after I arrived, I had only one thing on my mind.
Right now, I was sitting in my car, parked outside her work place, since I had come here earlier today and was told she now worked night shifts.
It was 7am and as far as the information I was given, she finished her shift exactly by this time.
Honestly, I didn't know what exactly my plan was, but I knew I had to do something.
I had to see her and tell her how her felt, even though I risk getting my heart crushed the second time.
But at least I would know that I had spoken how I felt this time, unlike staying silent, like I did with Deborah.
I sucked in a deep breath and turned off the car engine, before getting out of the car.
I grabbed my car key and slipped both my hands into my pocket.
I just had to say how I felt, wasn't so hard now was it?!
I heard the door chime open as I noticed the familiar figure walking out the door in a pair of jeans and hoodie.
She yawned immediately she got out the restaurant and moved her head in a circular motion, trying to stretch them.
I felt my eyes fixate on her as I couldn't pull my gaze away from her.
She was extremely beautiful, even though she was really tired.
She searched through her bag for something for a few seconds, before she pulled out a little white case.
I was completely smitten by this girl. And I needed to let her know.
She opened it up and pulled out a pair of earpods, putting them on and clicking on her phone before she sucked in a deep breath and walked through the driveway.
As much as I wanted to stop her and talk to her, I felt my words hang in my throat and different thoughts sneaking into my brain.
What if she was already dating Peter?!
What if she hated me?!
What if...
In a fit of indecisiveness, she skipped right past me out the restaurant driveway and out of my sight.
Well, damn it!!
