Chapter 33🌻
Lola's POV
“Wowww!!” I heard Tunmise exclaim as she immediately ran towards me while I twirled around acting cute in my outfit.
I had worn a black leather skirt, that was wayy above my knee, an armless white top with straps holding it together at my back.
I had a leather boot on and my make up was all done and ready by Kosi.
I decided not to pack my hair and just brush it down, letting it cover my bare back.
“You look really nice” Tunmise complimented as I smiled at her words.
“The skirt could be longer” Kosi complained as I rolled my eyes at her 'negative Nancyʼ attitude.
“Come on, it would be my birthday in a few hours, cut me some slack, would ya?!” I asked her as she rolled her eyes.
She was clad in a high waist jeans, and crop top too. While Tunmise, wore a pink skimpy dress.
I was so gonna have fun tonight and forget whatever the fuck was stuck in my head.
I was gonna let loose.
“Come on, let's go. It's past nine” Tunmise announced as we followed her out of her house.
I couldn't possibly get dressed in my house, my mum was gonna roast me alive if she saw me in these clothes.
But it was just for the night.
“Oops, I forgot my phone” I spoke as I rushed back into the house and grabbed my phone on the couch before running back out and catching up with them in Tunmise's car.
I squealed in excitement as I felt adrenaline rush through me.
“Remember, no drinking!” Kosi reminded as Tunmise and I looked at her in disappointment.
Way to suck the fun out.
“Yeah, okay” We both choruses before the car roared to life.

“Wuwww!!” Tunmise screamed chugging down another shot as I clapped, while jumping around and squealing alongside her.
“Another round!” I yelled as the bartender, looked at me weirdly before mixing up another glass of whisky.
He slid the filled glass over to me, as I immediately caught it and picked it up, moving it towards my mouth.
But before I could pour it into my mouth, Tunmise grabbed it from me and chugged it down.
“Heyyyy!!”
How was I supposed to let loose if I was still sober?!
“No drinks for you. Remember?!” Tunmise reminded as I looked at her in annoyance.
Fuck that rule.
Kosi didn't really think we would come to a club and not drink.
I hurriedly grabbed the bottle of whiskey, before the bartender got hold of it, and I rushed through the crowd, disappearing out of Tunmise's sight.
Watch me dance and have me loose my balance
Ouuuu
Moon walking into every challenge
Ouuuu
The lyrics echoed through the club as I slipped the bottle between my lips and chugged down about half of its content.
"What is the use of clubbing without drinking?!” I muttered to myself as I raised up my right hand and started moving my body to the beat.
Besides, I didn't get drunk so easily.
The music changed as I squealed recognising the familiar beat.
“It's a no brainer, yeahhhh!!” I yelled along with the lyrics as I moved my waist seductively.
Forget it all, Lola.
Just for tonight.
Unload the pressure of your Dad.
Push Derinsola out of your head.
Don't think about money or work.
Just dance.
Just dance like your life depends on it.
I moved my body around and chugged down more of the whiskey.
And I hated to admit, with every passing minute, I felt myself losing control of my body.
My hair going in different directions, my eyes getting all blurry and I felt the music getting distant my the minute.
I didn't think it was the effect of the drink. This was way too fast.
Suddenly, I felt the thoughts I wanted to push away, cloud my head again and drown me in this feeling of sadness.
After a while, I just stopped dancing and felt myself standing in the midst of the crowd with thoughts filled with a particular person.
“Do you want to dance?!” I heard some guy ask me with a nice smile as he looked at me with worry and confusion.
I probably looked like a depressed freak, standing in the center of the club, with a sad face.
“I.. I...” I stuttered but was cut off by a particular familiar voice.
“She's good” I heard as I immediately turned around towards the direction of the voice.
My eyes met with a familiar pair of eyes as I felt my heart beat race and an indescribable feeling spiral through me.
“Derin?!” I asked in disbelief.

Derinsola's POV
“Is he in?!” I asked the secretary as she nodded before grabbing the telephone, wanting to call him.
But didn't wait for him to even pick up before walking deeper into the building, heading to Peter's office.
I knocked twice before twisting the door knob, making the door open up.
I walked into his office and noticed he was sitted on his chair, with Kola opposite him in the other chair, as the accessed some files.
Their heads turned towards me as I shut the door closed.
“Derin?! You are back in Lagos?!” Peter asked in confusion as I nodded before walking towards them.
“And you couldn't even inform us?! Na wa o.”Kola added before stretching his hand towards me for a handshake, which I responded too.
“We've missed you, man. How is Abuja?!” Kola asked as I took a seat beside Kola.
“Not so bad. How's Lagos?!” I asked him as he shrugged before opening his mouth to respond to me but he was cut off by Peter.
Honestly, I wanted to speak to Peter. I wanted to know what was going on between him and Lola, and honestly, admit the fact that I liked Lola before telling her anything about it.
No matter what he was still my best friend, and I wouldn't want to destroy whatever relationship he had with Lola.
I just needed to find out.
“Do you have a meeting in Lagos?!” Peter asked curiously as I shook my head in response.
“I'm just here to take a break off work” I told him as he eyed me suspiciously.
I wanted to speak to him when Kola wasn't here.
Kola was just gonna make things hard for me.
“And are you sure this has nothing to do with your fake-girlfriend?!” Peter asked me as I stared at him in disbelief.
He seemed pissed.
I didn't have a clue why, but he had guessed right after all.
“Dude!” Kola called out to Peter, trying to understand what made him say that.
“You are not wrong.”I admitted before crossing my leg and looking at him intently.
Kola looked between both of us like had grown two heads.
“What the fuck is going on?!” Kola asked as Peter sighed before speaking.
“Took you long enough.”
Uhn?!
“Excuse me?!” I asked Peter as my face turned into that of confusion.
“Yeah. I knew you liked her, Derin. I just wanted to take advantage of the fact that you hadn't realised it, to get a head start” He told me as I looked at him in disbelief.
Welllll.....
“Did you?! I mean, am I too late?!” I asked him as I replayed my words in my head and sounded extremely foolish.
Peter laughed deeply before grabbing his phone and tapping on its screen.
“Why.... don't you find out?!” Peter concluded as I felt my phone buzz in my hand and I immediately checked it.
It was a text from Peter. He sent me an address with the words 'tonight at 10pmʼ written beneath it.
“Wait, what the hell is going on?! Explain it to me.” Kola asked clearly confused as we ignored him again.
I knew what this text meant.
She was gonna be here at 10pm. But exactly was she doing here, at a club.
“Thanks man” I told Peter as he nodded before I stood up to take my leave.
“Heyyy Derin, Remember to take a present” Peter called out to me as I looked back at him questioningly.
A present?!
For what?!
“Would you guys tell me what....” Kola started to yell before I shut the door behind me.

I walked into the night club, navigating my way through the crowd of people, searching for a particular light skinned lady.
I had no idea, she was here.
This place was loud, smelt like a mixture of sweat and alcohol, and it was suffocating.
I couldn't imagine myself being here if I didn't need to.
I hated crowd places, and most especially I hated this sights.
The sight of people grinding against each other or openly making out like no one was watching.
It was weird.
I mean, get a room!
“You?!” I heard a voice call out as I turned around looking for the owner of the voice.
Whoever it was, it could be calling anyone in this club.
I looked back straight ahead and decided to keep walking forward.
“Uhrm, Mr Derin guy!!” I heard as I immediately snapped my head backwards looking around for the person who called me.
My eyes finally landed on a familiar face as she looked at me with an intense glare.
It was Lola's friend and housemate.
She immediately moved towards me until she stood right in front of me.
“What are you doing here?!” She asked me, stressing out the word 'youʼ.
The last time I checked, this was a public place.
But I wasn't gonna say that.
“Uhrm..” I started thinking of what exactly to say.
“That's not even the point. How..” She cut me off as I stared at her listening to whatever she had to say.
But she was also cut off by the male figure that immediately straddled his left hand around her waist, holding a drink in the other hand.
She looked taken aback for a few seconds then relaxed when she saw the face of her boyfriend, whom I had also met before.
“Ohh, it's you” The guy said to me, as he gave Kosi the drink, now wrapping both his atms around her.
I was starting to feel uncomfortable standing on front of them both.
“How you doing?!” The guy asked me with a nice smile and I smiled back in return.
“Not bad. How...” I started but was interrupted by Kosi who seemed to have sipped down half of her drink and remembered she wanted to tell me something.
“This is no time for pleasantries. It's time for questions, Mr Derin sir” Kosi spoke with a frown as I looked at her blankly.
The whole calling me 'Mr Derinʼ sounded more mocking than respectful.
“What exactly do you want with Lola?! And why the heck are you leading her on?!” She asked as my expression turned into that of confusion.
I am?!
“And why...” She started again as the guy who had his arm wrapped around her waist immediately stopped her from continuing.
“I think she's drunk...” He interrupted her as she looked at him in a puzzled manner.
“What?! I am not”She retorted as the guy pulled her away.
What the hell was going on?!
She seemed completely fine to me.
“I'm so sorry about her. She gets cranky when she drinks” He explained to me as she immediately stomped on his left toe.
“Owww!! See?!” He asked me as he pulled her farther away, disappearing into the crowd.
Well, that was weird.
And what did she mean by leading on?!
You could only lead someone on if they were equally interested in you.
I stood there for a minute, thinking of the possibility of Lola being somewhat interested in me.
After a few minutes, I snapped out of my thoughts and walked through the crowd, heading towards the bar, hoping I could be able to get a better look from there.
“Heyy” I heard a loud yell as I looked towards Tunmise, who seemed to be calling out to someone.
My eyes immediately trailed towards the direction she was looking at and my eyes fell on exactly who I had been looking for.
She waved her left hand towards Tunmise with a mischievous smile as she turned away with a bottle of whiskey in her hands.
She walked into the middle of the crowd, making it difficult for me to see her.
Hurriedly, I navigated my way towards where she had ran to.
And in a matter of seconds, she was back in my sight swaying her hips towards the beat of the music and downing gulps of whiskey at intervals.
She looked extremely sexy in that outfit and I couldn't help but not want to take my eyes off her.
My gaze caught the eyes of a few other dudes, stealing glances at her despite the fact that some were with partners.
And the single dudes, just stared lustfully and shamelessly as I felt my eyes turn into that of fury.
How could she come here dressed like that?!
Was she dumb or what?!
She stopped dancing abruptly and just stood in the middle of the crowd, moving her head slowly according to the music.
“Is she okay? ” I muttered to myself as she still stood there like a zombie, occasionally still swinging the bottle to her mouth and pouting it's contents in.
I noticed a guy push through the crowds and moved towards her and at that pint, I moved even closer as well.
What did he want?!
“Do you want to dance?!” The guy asked with an irritating smile on his face.
The nerve of this guy.
Get the hell out of her sight.
“I.. I” She stuttered as I remembered how unpredictable she could be.
She could actually take this guy's offer on a dance.
I had to step in.
“She's good”
