When Baekhyun came to school, he looked like a complete mess.

He couldn't sleep at night, and so he slept at 4AM before waking up late at 6:45. He dressed quickly without caring and just dashed out the door, forgetting that breakfast even existed.

Without planning it, Sehun waited at the door for him and when he arrived, the taller threw his arm around Baekhyun's shoulder.

Baekhyun leaned into the touch and sighed, happy that he had someone he could lean on without troubles (Kyungsoo was too short and weak).

They didn't encounter the devil couple this morning, and Baekhyun was glad they didn't.

Once they arrived at the class, they both entered in the same position, surprising everyone who was inside.

The only one who wasn't surprised was Chanyeol, because he had other things on his mind and when he saw the couple he couldn't care less.

Baekhyun took a seat as far away from Chanyeol as possible, slumping down in his seat. The whole time during class, he didn't even turn his head, keeping all of his attention on keeping notes and looking at the teacher.

Once class was finished, Baekhyun waited for Sehun and while he was waiting, he finally got a glimpse of Chanyeol's face.

The basketball player looked happy and gleeful.

He probably looked like the sun beside Baekhyun who was sporting the look of darkness.

Why is he happy after he said those things about me? Baekhyun wondered sourly. He began wishing that Chanyeol was sad because he got a bad mark on a test, or his dumb girlfriend broke up with him.

The next classes flew by quickly, and lunch was finally here. Baekhyun was anticipating it because of the food, but he really didn't want to eat at the table.

"Oh come on, let's just do it! Chanyeol won't be able to hurt you with me here," Sehun reassured and Baekhyun gnawed at his bottom lip, thinking of his decision. "I'm sitting in between you guys anyways, you'll be fine."

Baekhyun sighed. "Alright..."

That decision didn't matter though, because Chanyeol didn't even show up at lunch, neither did Junmyeon.

Baekhyun felt slightly disappointed but also relieved that he could eat in peace.

He filled his stomach with cafeteria food and before he even noticed, lunch was over.

Sehun and Baekhyun made their way to class, talking idly. Now, Baekhyun was feeling better, because he wasn't hungry anymore.

"Do you have that assignment due today?" Sehun asked and Baekhyun nodded.

He fished through his backpack for his flash drive before he realized with horror that it was gone. "No! I swear it was in here!"

Baekhyun searched some more before he basically screeched, running down the halls. "I'm going to find it!" He called before disappearing around the corner.

He ran to the library, and on his way there he passed by the empty classroom, which made him stop in his tracks.

The door was slightly open, and the lights were on- something that barely ever happened.

Baekhyun, being nosy as usual, looked inside.

I'm always peeping on people recently... I wonder if that's a good thing or not...

The classroom looked different, almost foreign when the lights were on. Baekhyun examined the room a bit, wondering what he was actually looking for. What he saw, though, made him almost trip on nothing and caused his heart to lurch.

It wasn't something you saw everyday, it was probably as rare as a penguin flying to a blue moon.

Chanyeol was crying.

Junmyeon and Chanyeol sat on the ground leaning against the wall, while Chanyeol was pressed into Junmyeon's side. Junmyeon's arm was around Chanyeol and even if it looked awkward, they stayed like that.

Baekhyun felt something tug at his heart when he saw the tears rolling down Chanyeol's cheeks, but he didn't know what to feel.

He prayed that it was something stupid Chanyeol was crying about, because if it wasn't, Baekhyun couldn't hold his grudge for long.

Baekhyun could barely hear the words, but they were still there, almost unintelligible because of the state Chanyeol was in. "She..." The giant trailed off before sobbing once more.

"Shh, you did good by pretending to be happy this entire time." Junmyeon reassured him, and Baekhyun began to wonder what the heck they were talking about.

Baekhyun backed away and finally ripped his gaze off of Chanyeol's face, going back to his task of finding his flash drive.

If I want to know, I'll ask him properly. And it's something really stupid too, I bet.

At basketball practice, everyone noticed that Chanyeol wasn't being himself. There were no super loud shouts at how stupid someone was or that crazy laughter that appeared once in a while.

Chanyeol still smiled, and Baekhyun didn't know if anyone but Junmyeon and himself noticed that it was fake.

It seemed that everyone did though, because at the end they all cornered Chanyeol.

"What's wrong?" Sehun asked, slightly mad that Chanyeol was being weird after what he said about Baekhyun.

"Nothing, it's fine guys." Chanyeol smiled but Jongin just glared at him.

"It's not nothing, Chanyeol."

"Come on, tell us..." Mingyu urged.

Baekhyun didn't say anything, but he just stood there a bit farther away than everyone else.

Chanyeol locked eyes with Baekhyun but the smaller looked away immediately, missing the look of disappointment on the taller's face.

"I got a bad mark on a test, alright?" Chanyeol asked and wrestled out of the little barrier his teammates had made.

No one believed that bullshit, but they let it go before Chanyeol got angry.

Everyone changed and when they got outside, Baekhyun noticed Chanyeol laying in the middle of the gym.

Baekhyun was beyond curious, and so he had to go ask himself.

The brunette sat down beside Chanyeol and the giant didn't move at all. "What are you doing?" Baekhyun asked and Chanyeol still didn't reply.

"Why aren't you with your precious Sehun?" Chanyeol questioned and Baekhyun frowned.

"Channie," Baekhyun didn't know why he said it, maybe to spite Chanyeol, but it just seemed normal calling him that now.

Baekhyun could probably count on one hand the times he's called Chanyeol 'Chanyeol' and not his nickname. "You can tell me your problems, if you want..." Baekhyun trailed off.

"It's nothing, alright?"

"Why do you keep lying?"

"I'm not lying!"

"Do you ever say the truth about people? Do you only ever lie to their faces?" Baekhyun asked, and even though this was supposed to be about Chanyeol, Baekhyun was beginning to recall what happened yesterday in the equipment room.

"What are you talking about?" Chanyeol asked as he sat up, looking confused.

"You never say the truth, all you ever do is lie," Baekhyun spat.

"That's not true," Chanyeol snapped and Baekhyun knew he shouldn't continue pushing but he did.

"You just... Hide from everything, don't you? You act all high and mighty but in reality you're just placing a fake Chanyeol in our brains, right?"

"You don't fucking understand," Chanyeol growled.

"It's like you're scared of the truth or something, because you can't ever seem to say it. Is this really how you're going to get through everything? Lying?" Baekhyun's voice now held the tone of anger, sadness and reprimand.

"You want me not to lie? Fine! Dara found me cheating, alright?!" Chanyeol exclaimed and it felt as if Baekhyun was just buried alive in the ground.

The smaller was secretly hoping that it was something serious, but here Chanyeol was, telling him the worst of things.

"I wasn't happy with her and so I fucked another girl. Happy?" Chanyeol asked and he stood up, taking his backpack with him as he left.

Baekhyun looked at Chanyeol's back in disbelief.

"You're a sick bastard!" Baekhyun yelled before he stood up, pointing at him even if he couldn't see it. "You're the worst person in the world! I'm glad Dara found you cheating, because if she didn't, she'd be stuck with a monster!"

Chanyeol didn't even stop to insult him back.

"He what?!" Kyungsoo exclaimed and Baekhyun just nodded.

Maybe Baekhyun should have kept Chanyeol's secret about his cheating, but he felt something boiling inside him that told him to announce it in front of the cafeteria.

Of course, he didn't, but instead he just confided in his friend.

It was currently Wednesday, and it was lunchtime. Baekhyun and Kyungsoo sat away from the group for this day, talking to each other.

"He said all these mean things about me to his girlfriend, and then he goes and says that he cheated on her. He's such a bastard." Baekhyun shook his head while Kyungsoo just stared at him.

"And you said you liked him?"

"Used to, Kyungsoo. Past tense. I don't even know how I began liking him when he was like that."

"Yeah but... After calling him that, don't you feel sort of... Guilty?" Kyungsoo asked and Baekhyun pondered on it.

"No... Maybe... Yes? But he deserved it! I already told you all the bad things he's done!" Baekhyun stated and Kyungsoo tsked him.

"Yeah but good thing his girlfriend caught him while he was cheating. Dara seems cool."

"Really? She seems mean to me..."

They sat in silence for a moment, wrapped up in their own thoughts.

"Something doesn't click, Baekhyun..." Kyungsoo trailed off as he bit at his nails. "You said you saw him crying, right?" Baekhyun nodded. "If he was really that sad, why would he just cheat on her?"

Baekhyun shrugged. "Maybe his reputation might go down if she says anything to us... But it's a bit too late though because I already know..."

As if on cue, Dara and Chanyeol walk into the cafeteria with their arms together, looking happier than ever.

"What the..." Baekhyun trailed off as Chanyeol and Dara continued on through the tables, passing by theirs. "I thought they..."

"Hey guys..." Chanyeol greeted his teammates loud enough so Kyungsoo and Baekhyun could hear. "Sorry about yesterday... Me and Dara had some... Complications. That's why I was so weird."

The basketball table started talking about how Chanyeol was stupid and began joking with him.

"it's a good thing Dara's such a forgiving person though!" Chanyeol grinned and pecked Dara on the lips, causing Baekhyun to grimace.

"That damn bastard..." Kyungsoo muttered. "How could Dara just forgive him like that? If my girlfriend—or boyfriend, cheated on me, I'd stab them in the back with the fork Ariel used to brush her hair."

"It would probably be dull, Kyungsoo. But I agree. Maybe that's what Dara is doing though, getting closer to him before breaking him."

"You really don't like him do you?" Kyungsoo asked and Baekhyun clucked his tongue. "How are you supposed to play basketball tomorrow with him tomorrow if you hate him?"

"I just won't talk or pass him the ball... Simple."

"He's the team captain, Baekhyun. That's going to be harder than you think it is," he stated.

"Whatever you say, Kyungsoo. I'm going to do it, though." Baekhyun scowled as he watched Chanyeol and Dara flirt back and forth.

Baekhyun's eyes locked with Chanyeol's, and it might've been the only time that Chanyeol looked away first.
