Lee Jieun.

Funny, how his crush had the same exact name as his favorite idol. He wondered if Jieun had a beautiful voice like IU as well but he didn't want to imagine his neighbor as IU. That'd be wrong. They were both completely different people.

"Jieun is going to be joining Dongin High," Jieun's mom told Jungkook' parents over dinner.

At present, Jieun and her mom were at Jungkook's place. Her dad was out of town and would return by next morning, according to Mrs. Lee.

"That's great," his dad chirped, "Jungkook goes to Dongin High too."

"And he can show Jieun around school," Jungkook's mom added to which Mrs. Lee nodded happily.

All along Jieun and Jungkook didn't say a word to each other. Their parents did all the talking and they just ate in absolute silence. Their eyes would meet from time to time. Or more like, Jungkook would stare at her for 8 seconds and then she'd look up to see him staring and then he'd quickly look away, blushing.

After dessert, Jungkook's mom insisted him to show Jieun around the house.

"Show her the backyard," his mom said and before he could ask what was so interesting in showing her the vegetable garden, his mom already announced loudly that Jungkook would show Jieun around.

He facepalmed himself mentally.

"So... what's interesting in the backyard?" She asked as she walked closer to him and he stared.

She had moved in ten days ago and this was the closest he ever got to her. She smelled of vanilla. And a tint of strawberry. Her brown shoulder length hair was looking silky and shiny as silk and Jungkook felt like a creep for wanting to smell her hair.

He didn't know what was wrong with him. He may be awkward when it came to girls but he wouldn't feel this awkward. He would usually be normal. So it wasn't his fault, he thought. It was all her fault. Why did she have to be so damn beautiful?

He didn't know for how long he kept staring but he snapped out when he heard an amused snort.

"If you are done checking me out, you can show me what's in the backyard."

He blushed furiously and looked away. Why was he embarrassing himself time to time without fail since day 1 of meeting her? Two days ago, he was staring at her from across the front porch while she was playing with her dog in her garden. And she saw. Weirdest part was he didn't look away and she winked before going back inside.

"I wasn't checking you out," he said weakly, "I was just thinking."

"Okay, I believe you."

"You do?" He asked, puzzled. She laughed.

"Cute," she mumbled with a shake of her head and walked ahead of him, leaving an even more flustered Jungkook behind.
And that's how their friendship started. Well at least that's what Jungkook thought.

"I hate trigonometry," Yugyeom complained during lunch hour.

Both Jungkook and Jieun shared confused looks.

"But trig is your best subject," Jungkook let out slowly.

"No, geometry is my best subject."
"If you want, I can help you out," Jieun offered as she took a bite of her apple.

Yugyeom sighed as a flirty look overcame his features.

"Oh wow, the Lee Jieun is offering me help... why so? Have you finally been accepting my advances?" He said with the waggle of his eyebrow and Jungkook wanted to choke slam him in the cafeteria in front of everyone.

Personally Jungkook didn't want Yugyeom to meet or know Jieun. Why? Because there was a higher chance that she would be attracted towards his best friend because of his wit and also because Yugyeom didn't stutter like an idiot from time to time. It was wrong but there were times he wished he was like Yugyeom too. However, holidays ended and Jieun started as the "new hot girl" at their school and to his relieve, Jieun didn't show any interest in Gyeom at all. She didn't show interest in anyone. Not even in Jungkook. He didn't know whether he should be happy or sad.

"No," she let out wistfully, "I'm offering help because I'm brilliant and don't beat yourself up just because Chaeyoung doesn't notice you."

The smirk was soon wiped off Gyeom's face and replaced with a scowl.

"I don't like Chaeyoung. She's a nerd and- and she's boring!" He spat out, completely ignoring the fact that he was called dumb.

Jieun smiled wickedly. "Just because she's a nerd doesn't mean she's not fun. Anyways, I'll see you boys later. I have a tutoring session with Chaeyoung."

She winked. Yugyeom let out a horrified sound as he scrambled after her, begging her not to snitch to Chaeyoung about he said and Jungkook sighed.

It was dead night when Jungkook woke up to the noise of someone knocking softly against his window glass. He reached out for his baseball next to his bed and slowly walked towards the window. Another knock caused him to hurry up his pace. He quickly removed the curtain only to find Lee Jieun standing outside his window with a black hoodie on. She had a confused look on her faced as she stared at the bat skeptically.

"Don't tell me you thought I was a thief."

"Actually.... I kinda thought so..."

She laughed softly. "Oh, Jungkook, baby. Thieves don't knock before entering. They just enter."

She said eleven words. But Jungkook only heard the first three. After that he blanked out.

"... abs. Put on a shirt. We need to go."

He asked smartly. "H-huh?"

Jieun chuckled. "You need to stop spacing out in front of me, Kookie. I said 'Nice abs. Put on a shirt. We need to go.' Is it loud and clear now?"

What was she? An owl? Didn't she know what sleep was? He looked at his wall clock and saw it was half past two. He'd be dozing in school tomorrow if he didn't go back to bed now. Then he'd miss out notes or fall asleep in class and be detained. His school records were perfect. Everything would go down hill if he didn't sleep now.

But he was smitten by the goddess named Jieun. If she told him to jump off a building, he would. Of course, she would never ask him to do anything like that... but he would do if she ever asked.

"One detention won't hurt," he thought as he quickly walked back to his bed and wore the white t-shirt he had previously thrown by the headboard.

"Where are we going?" He asked as he jumped out of his room window and softly closed it.

"I found this amazing place last night. By the mountains."

Last night? Jungkook frowned as worry took over him. She was a girl. 18 years old. She maybe a legal adult but that gave no excuse for her to sneak out at night to find some "amazing place" by the mountains. The mountains weren't only spooky at night but also dangerous. According to town legends, the mountains near their town are rumoured to be haunted. Older people in the town say that there is a house high up in the middle of the mountain which belonged to some merchant during the Joseon era whose hobby was to kill young children and make dolls out of their dead bodies. Every teenager in the town heard this story as a bed time story and would frequently hear if they didn't listen to their parents. Parents still tell this horrifying tale to the younger kids and their parents also heard this story as children. But of course, no one knew how specific this rumour was. Jungkook never cared about it until now.

"You wandered off in the mountains at the middle of the night?"

This was probably the first time he ever scolded Jieun and looked angry. He had never been upset about anything at her before. But today she crossed a limit by putting herself in inevitable danger.

"Jieun, are you out of your mind?!" He didn't mean to raise his voice but he was worried sick to his stomach.

He grabbed hold of her shoulders as he crouched down to her eye level.

"Don't ever do that again! Promise me..."

Jieun didn't say anything as she stared at him with her mouth open. Jungkook had to call her name five times to snap her out of her daze.

And when she did, she smiled cheekily.

"Sorry, Kookie. Can't promise you any thing. Wandering off somewhere is in my blood."

Then she removed his hands off her shoulder and walked towards her car. Before she entered, she turned around and said something that Jungkook never expected.

"By the way, you look hot when you're angry."

Saying that she entered the car.

A warm blush crept up furiously over his cheeks as he tried to analyze whether Jieun calling him hot was or was not a dream.

He must have been standing still for about a minute because Jieun honked the car and signaled him to hurry over.

"Where is this 'amazing place' of your's?" He asked as he got inside the passenger seat, trying to avoid her gaze.

She smiled mysteriously as she fixed the rear view mirror. "By the mountains," she teased and started the engine.

"Please tell me you two had sex under the moonlight in the forest," Yugyeom begged, "That'd be so erotic."

Jungkook stammered as he blushed hard. "N-nothing happened! And why do you always have to talk about sex!"

Yugyeom let out a disappointed grunt and looked at Jungkook.

"Fine, then. What did you two do?"

Immediately his eyes started to glitter.

"We went to this amazing place..."

Ever since that night Jieun knocked on Jungkook 's window, it kinda became their thing to go by the place Jieun found.

The first night Jieun had driven him out of the town, he had gotten worried. It was dead night and they were only two teenagers who were out in the highway. He worried what if they got into an accident or got stopped by burglars. But when he saw the place, he realized why Jieun had taken the time to bring him to this place.

It was beyond breath taking. The place was hidden deep inside the mountains. He never knew there was a mini waterfall near their town. He doubted if anyone knew at all. But Lee Jieun was the first to find it. Just like how she was the first girl to catch his attention.

The water from the waterfall was crystal clear and even had a sweet taste. When Jungkook had stepped inside the pond, he could see his full body through the waters and he was so enthralled. He remembered letting out a happy joyful shout. Seeing him being happy, Jieun let out a cheerful laugh and snapped a few photos using her Polaroid camera.

Jungkook personally preferred the night scenery of the waterfall. The moon light not only illuminated the pond water but it's reflective rays caused the whole area to light up. The reflection caused Jieun's face to look angelic and she would snuggle next to him. Thus, he liked the late night visits. It was solely their time and he liked the feeling of Jieun next to him.

The morning or afternoon visits had another story. Jungkook would pack up foods and drinks for the trip even though Jieun didn't see the need in it. But by doing this he felt happy. He felt as if they were a couple going on a picnic trip. And then afterwards, it would ache his heart because they weren't couples.

Seven months had passed since Jieun had moved in and seven months since he had fallen in love with her harder each day. And finally, after seven freaking months, Jungkook decided that she had to know how he felt about her truly.

"Atta boy!" Yugyeom yelled as he loudly slapped his back, "Go tell her how you feel and get your ass dating."

He grinned, rubbing his nape. "Thanks, Gyeommie."

His best friend pushed him out of the boy's locker room.

"Thank me later. Now go confess or I'll do it instead."

Jungkook smirked. "So you've finally decided to man up and confess to Chaeyoung?"

He watched in amusement how Yugyeom's cocky expression changed into shy one and then into an angry one.

"I don't know what you're talking about. Don't stutter," he said and walked out, grumbling.

With a bunch of hydrangeas in his hand and a nervous smile across his face, Jungkook made his way to the school gate where Jieun was waiting for him. He saw her leaning against the gate and he smiled widely. He quickly walked towards her and before he could call her, he noticed how Jieun tensed up and immediately straightened her posture. This made him frown. That's when he noticed a tall handsome guy making his way towards Jieun. He also had a tensed expression but his was mostly angry while Jieun had a guarded look. Jungkook did not like the look of it. He was worried the guy would harm her and quickly jogged over there.

"Jieun!" He called out but when he saw her expression, his face fell and he didn't know why it hurt so much.

For the first time, she didn't have any reaction on. Neither was she smiling nor were her eyes twinkling by seeing him. Her face was blank and her eyes looked irritated. He wasn't to be here, Jungkook realized. He was being a third wheel here and Jieun's eyes clearly said that too.

But Jungkook still stayed. If she was tensed around the other guy, he was afraid the dude might do something.

"Jieun..." He eyed the guy cautiously as the guy stared at him with no expression, "who is he?"

The guy snorted. "Jieun? Now you-"

"Taehyung," she interrupted dryly, "he's Taehyung and he's from my old school."

"Oh, an old friend?" Jungkook asked.

Before she could reply, the Taehyung guy beat her to it.

"No, I'm her boyfriend."
