Prologue
We all make mistakes, have struggles, and even regret things in our past. But you are not your mistakes, you are not your struggles...and I'm certainly not mine.
I've come to learn that the hard way.
Because of a certain someone.
On one hand, I really wonder who this guy was and how special he was to have managed to wrap me so tightly around his pinky finger. On the other hand, I wonder, did he even know it? Did he know how much I had and still would've sacrificed for him? Did he bring out the best in me? Did he even really care for me as much as he claimed to have? I beg...no crave an answer.
It hurts, you know? It hurts because I was so in love with him. It's so sad how he was such a big part of my life, and now he's just gone. Like a precious memory written in the sand by the seashore. Inevitably swept away by its strong waves.
It is often said, the only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself. But, that's the problem, I don't regret, for a minute, yielding to that particular temptation, because even though many claim they'd rather have something than nothing at all...the truth is, to have something halfway is harder than having nothing at all.
For those short moments together were the best I've yet to live. And no matter what, I'll never forget the delicious taste of his forbidden fruit.
However deceitful and conniving the tree was.
Will I ever forget him? It's a challenge that I'm faced with every day. The memories are haunting. The questions in my head deafening.
But that's the price I have to pay for craving precious gems. So glittery, so out of my league. A diamond in the rough. The thought of having it, alluring. Dangerously alluring.
But it's not always how it seems.
Well for me at least.
Let's take a walk down memory lane. Hopefully by the end of my story, you'll figure out that not every thing that glitters is fucking gold!
