3. U.A. {Revised}

"Yes, I in fact do work here. How observant of you" The older man drawled and spun to turn his back on the gaping teenager. "I'm a U.A. teacher too if you must know, and I have a homeroom that needs attending to in due time. So I'd appreciate if we could speed things along"

As he said this, h began walking towards the entrance with a quickened pace, his scarf and black hair fluttered slightly in the wind as he did.

The curly haired boy's eyes looked as if they would pop any second. This was too surreal, and since when did Eraserhead become a teacher? That was deffinatly something Izuku wouldn't have expected in a million years "Bu.. you.. I...i-"

The pro hero sighed once he realized hat he wasn't being tailed and shot a look of annoyance his way. "Are you coming or not?" Shota snapped which brought Midoriya back to reality. "Right! Yes sorry, I'm right behind you sir" he relayed with a startled gulp.

'Is this even real?' He asked himself joyfully, feeling as if he was about to burst.

The young boy quickly scrambled to follow the hero all while admiring the building. He gingerly stepped passed the gates, and still couldn't believe it! He never would have fathomed the thought of getting to walk past that gate for a million years, and UA was directly infront of him! Izuku almost felt like crying, to think he might actually accept a job in such a place!

As the hero lead Izuku through the halls, the fanboy couldn't help but to continue his feat of gazing apon the interior in awe. Sure it had the traditional style of any big public school, but it was ten times the size! Everything was so clean and crisp, and not to mention, absolutely MASSIVE. He could duly say that this entire experience has left little to no room for disappointment already.

And he'd only been here for five minutes!

Though, as amazing as it was, Izuku found himself glancing at Aizawa. The man was deffinatly more intimidating in person, especially now that he knew who he formally was.

But it seemed like he didn't want to be idolize in the slightest, even going as far as to detest such actions if Izuku continued to work with him. And he could honestly respect that.

As much of a fanboy as he is, Izuku has always admired Aizawa because of how effortlessly the man is able to do the right thing. He doesn't even accept credit for all of the missions he's accomplished and does much to avoid big media and to stay out of the spotlight.

Of course Izuku loves all noble heros who fight for what is right regardless! But there was just something different about underground heros, something that he just couldn't help but to admire. They helped in ways that famous Pro heros sometimes can't, especially when it came to finding out information only known to villains or vigilantes. A famous hero would scare off or out right just arrest lesser villains and vigilantes instead of trying to work with them to take out a larger threat. But the underground doesn't work like that. It's a system of trust and deals, if you want something, you have to provide items or information that holds an equal value if you hope for any successful exchange.

It interested him to no end and he's a little embarrassed to admit the he didn't know underground heros were even a thing. In all truth, the only reason Izuku stumbled across Eraserhead was through a short talk show special conducted by a news station interviewing All Might. They talked about one of his latest missions that delved into underground hero work, something he had never heard of at the time, and All Might had to partner up with someone who knew their way sound the system. Thus allowing him to meet Eraser head in the process.

Izuku, being the naturally curious kid he was, decided to search around until he found a blog that specifically covered underground heros. Eraserhead was on the charts, nearing somewhere towards the top, but not exceedingly so. Granted to this day, he still didn't know how that ranking was conducted, or if it held anything amounting to truth -- considering Izuku looked at that blog years ago.

There wasn't much info on the descriptions of the blog, mainly a paragraph or two on what little they could scrounge up about the heros. Some of the descriptions didn't even know the quirks of the hero they were describing.

Still, he always found Eraser to be fantastic in his own way after he read up some more on the hero. Ever since he's been a fan! And if he wanted to be worthy of the hero's time, he might as well abide to the man's wishes and try to open up a bit.

"So... Mr. Aizawa" Izuku started shyly. Shota turned his gaze in acknowledgement, waiting for him to continue. " Earlier you said that you taught, right? Well... since I'm kinda just feeling the ropes for now, I was wondering about what kind of class you teach... N-not to say that I need to know or anything! I-I'm just a bit curious is all" he asked meekly with a shaky tone.

Ah man, he hoped he didn't just cross a line. What if he did and Aizawa is reconsidering? Oh no did he just blow his only opportunity?!

He was such a dumbass. Well, the time came sooner then he had hoped, but might as well go throw himself out of that window while he has the chance-

"That... is correct" Aizawa stopped to sigh deeply, promptly surprising the teen whose eyes almost blew up at the collected response.

"You may have heard of them" he scoffed lightly and pocketed one of his hands. Obviously getting prepared to talk his own ear off. But he might as well get the youngster caught up to speed.

"Class 1-A is the one year I finally managed to clear a whole class for the hero course. I conduct my own little entrance exam so to speak at the beginning of the year in order to weed out those... unfit to be heros. I refuse to allow kids who aren't ready for that line of work to go off and get themselves hurt." He explained and Izuku soaked up every bit of it, still slightly baffled that he was saved from commiting defenestration apon himself.

The event technically made sense, not everyone who got into UA were always the best candidates to begin with. Power doesn't mean everything, even if that were one of the main focuses on UA's entrance exams. Mental health, willingness to learn, and even the determination to grow were key factors. Without being evaluated, such factors could end up doing more harm then good.

He could see what Eraser was getting at even if it did seem more like a 'tough-love' kind of treatment (which was unsurprisingly fitting for his character). The man still ment well, and honestly, he admits that it's quite a genius tactic.

Izuku was drawn out of his head when the man continued to talk, he drew his eyes back to his scruffy face that held clear hints of exhaustion. "But just because I passed them all, doesn't mean I'm chalk free by any means. They just so happen to be to most headache inducing class I've had to deal with in my entire teaching career." He groaned out as Izuku raised an eyebrow.

"I honestly wouldn't mind it so much if they would just learn to keep their egos and rivalries in check, but no. Teenagers will be teenagers, and no matter how hard I scold them, I can almost guarantee more and more paper work to head my way." The man rolled his eyes and continued to grumbled out some complaints, having entered a small rant himself without intending to.

The teacher spoke as if his students were the equivalent of a persistent back pain, but his eyes held a sheen of pride and acknowledgement. He really was proud of his kids and how far they've come, even if they insist on taking years off of his life.

But Midoriya paid little to no mind towards the clear annoyance shown, instead focusing on how much is sounded like Aizawa has already made an impact on them starting from day one. Izuku hid a small giggle, finding how Aizawa ranted about his brats was extremely similar to his Auntie Mitsuki.

"Even so, I bet it's such a cool job" Izuku awed, his eyes sparkling.

Aizawa looked at the boy in curiosity before cracking a chuckled "Yeah, I guess it is"

Shota lead Izuku to the teachers lounge, which was also fancy to match the rest to U.A.'s expensive interior. However, this room seemed to house more of a welcoming and warm feeling to it compared to everything else he's seen so far. His eyes caught on a small collection of lockers that sat beside the entrance of the door they just walked through, each one clearly labeled with a teacher's name.

His eyes widened as he caught that Izuku's own name was on one of the lockers, right underneath one that bore the name tag of "Yamada Hizashi", who was right next to Aizawa's own locker.

"Oh, yeah," He started as he plopped down on the couch. "I had a locker prepared not too long ago for you, set your stuff in there if you need to."

"A-are you sure?" He asked before stumbling over the words at Aizawa's pointed look.

"I-It's just that I might not even end up working here!" He yelped and scratched the back of his neck " But you've already went through all the trouble of setting up a locker for me A-and... Well I just don't want to come off as wasteful or anything" Izuku confessed, feeling a pang of guilt well up inside him, which did not go unnoticed by the teacher who briefly wore a small frown.

"Your name can easily be removed if that's the case and you find the offer unsuitable" he shrugged, keeping his eyes on the boy while trying to ease him a small bit if any. "I just figured you might appreciate not lugging around unnecessary baggage if you had any. Half of the staff doesn't even use those old things anyway, so don't worry about it. If I intended on guilt tripping you to stay I wouldn't have immediately resorted to locker privileges" he slightly scoffed and got a small giggled in response.

At this Midoriya felt his shoulder loosened in relief, which now quickly filled with a jittery excitement. "I guess you have a point"

"Well I normally do"

Izuku gingerly opened the cool gray colored locker, and softly yeeted his backpack into the storage space. But not before opening his bag to pull out a cup.

Across the tall cup spelt the saying 'Coffee is good. Coffee is great. Always choose Coffee, there is no debate '

After also snagging a lid and closing the door, he walked over to hand Aizawa the cup and lid before sitting himself across from the teacher.

"M-may I?" He hesitantly asked for permission. Aizawa scanned the boy up and down one last time before nodding to give the go ahead.

With a deep and slow breath, Izuku waved his hand in the air as if conducting a symphony of sounds, which created a steaming brown liquid that he led to the empty cup and allowed it pour in carefully.

The stealth hero's eyes seemed to grin, if that were even possible, and blew on the concoction before he inhaled a long slow sip.

A husky sigh slipped from his lips "Yeah, This is just what I needed to start off my day... You truely are a godsend" he spoke and threw his head back to take another plentiful mouthful as Midoriya couldn't help but flush from the act of being praised and covered his face in embarrassment.

" Your quirk control is also something to admire." He pointed out after lowering his half emptied cup. "Not a single drop is to be seen out of place, and your form looks pretty good for an average citizen" The man hummed as he looked back to the boy bathing in praise. "Most people don't tend to train their quirks like that without a certain goal in mind.."

"I-It's not all that special!" He squeaked from behind his shaky hands before lowering in them slowly. "I-I just did what anyone would do to train their quirk..." He spoke red faced.

"No clue what you're embarrassed about with a gift like this, it's pretty strong too and if you were to train it properly I'm sure you could accomplish many things... but I digress. Now." He cut himself off and Izuku immediately stiffened.

"Let's get down to business, I assume you would like a further explanation on what you will be expected to do throughout the day if you do decide to accept this job and it's terms"

Izuku nodded, and tried to collect himself with deep breaths. Before Aizawa continued the explanation, he quietly examined the small boy infront of him one last time.

He fiddled with the end of his sweater in what looked like anxiousness, probably attempting to ground himself so he could pay attention and not get lost in his thoughts. He can hold his own in a conversation but the Midoriya didn't give off an air of confidence at all. From how he reacted earlier to the compliment involving his quirk, he doesn't seem take praise very well, and yet he is fully aware of how to relay praise to others -- like how he was doing infront of the school not too long ago and even in the hall. ost likely caused due to years of having a low self esteem.

They'd have to work on that.

His green curly head full of hair was tilted down in a submissive demeanor, showing just how big and nerve wracking this was for the kid, and Aizawa could instantly feel his hard eyes begin to soften the more he looks at Izuku's mannerisms and body language.

The teen almost reminds Aizawa of Hizashi back in highschool before-

Aizawa quickly coughed to snap himself out of his irrelevant thoughts, fighting down a choke (wondering why in the hell his brain thought it was suitable to think of Mic in this moment) and began speaking.

"For starters, you will be required to follow me throughout the day, providing me coffee and minor assistance as I teach my classes. It'll be nothing major so I wouldn't stress" He quickly reassured the boys almost wary and unsure look at the mention of the last bit.

"If anything, the most you'd be tasked with is just watching over the class if I were to step out for a bit or if I needed a student supervised to the nurses station for any reason"

Izuku nodded in understanding. He doesn't know if he'd be the best in those situations, but they weren't that difficult. It's better then actually assisting in teaching, like he previously thought. His social anxiety was about to slice his throat right then and there.

"When I have a break, you'll have a break as well. I take many power naps when I teach so account for those or whatever" he spoke as if that were a normal occurrence despite the absurdity. Something told Izuku that he couldn't prepare for whatever types of situations that would entail.

He shoved the thought to the back of his mind for the time being before his mind fired off. He almost jerked back into the cushioned couch when he was met with serious expression (more so then what was previously displayed) that overtook Aizawa's face.

The intent behind his words made Izuku gulp once he began to talk about boundaries.  "As I hope you would have presumed, I expect you to treat my students with the upmost respect. Any takes or ill intent directed towards them will not be tolerated in the slightest. Do not instigate fights, do not encourage unsuitable behavior, and most importantly do not pry into their social life or personal problems by using your authority. As long as my student are under my care, I will not allow them to be mistreated in any respect. One way or another." He stated with no room for debate. His eyes flashed red and his hair slightly hovered before he settled back down into the couch.

"And if you respectfully follow these rules, in turn, they shall grant you the same treatment. If anyone of them disrespects you then I ask for you to notify me immediately. I do not condone such foolishness coming from anyone no matter who they are. They may be my students, but I don't pick favorites. I'll treat you just as I will them if you choose to stay" Midoriya nodded meekly, holding back a shiver from how threatening the older sounded for a second. "Y-yes sir"

"You are also not permitted to wander anywhere in this building unless I give you direct permission. I would like you to assist me with paper work when the time comes, so I don't want you getting the idea you can just run off. Filing and organizing documents is what you will be primarily tasked with in order to help me preform my work more efficiently. I've been meaning to go hunting for an assistant for awhile now, but it took awhile for Nezu to grant me the permission to go scouting personally. So I hope I made the right choice" He stated making sure every word was understood. Izuku nodded to show he was listening and contained a sigh. Maybe he'd get lucky and all Aizawa's paperwork would catch fired before it had a chance to look at him. He doubt Aizawa would be opposed to the idea...

"Concerning your pay, you will earn 15$ an hour. Your paycheck will be handed to you within two week intervals. Of course, we can adjust this schedule and payment method if that doesn't work conveniently for you"

"Oh no! That's more than enough Aizawa sir!!" Izuku reassured quickly, trying to wrap his head around everything. "The fact that you are paying me this much is beyond what I was even expecting. So I have no complaints and am entirely grateful" he bowed after rapidly spilling out his words.

'He's not even on the job yet and I'm already getting used to this kid, that can't be good'

"No need to thank me, it's only fair. Now where was I... oh yeah. You will work until I dismiss you. Which can vary from anywhere in between 2-4 pm with the exception of certain events and or holidays, and with that I've gone through all the terms" he finished and leaned forward to open a folder that was on the small table separating the both of them. It held a contract that he turned to face Izuku.

"This is to verify that all the terms I have listed off are indeed what will be required of you according to the contract. If you are still interested in what I am offering, I am buyable to let you preform a one day shadowing of the work environment before you decide, so that way you wouldn't be shooting in the dark and I won't be wasting my time"

Izuku reached out for the contract and skimmed over it quickly just as a formality. Aizawa did indeed cover everything that was on the categorized list and Izuku felt himself nodding in agreement.

"I might as well, so far I'm a little unsure as to if I'd actually be a benefit to you. I-I've only had prior working experience once as a Barista for about two months, so I don't have much to offer in the experience department" he admitted and set the contract back down. "But that being said, I am interested and would like to see this interview through... However, aren't you also supposed to ask me questions as to what kind of worker I am in the work place and what my intents are if I were to accept this job?" He asked and tilted his head. "

That's normally how an interview works right?"

Izuku has only been interviewed once, that's true, but he did find it a bit odd at how he hadn't been asked a single question.

"Normally that would be the case when applying for a normal job... But we have a background check preformed on everyone that is to enter this building, especially those who are interested in becoming potential staff" Aizawa explained and Izuku felt his body stiffen, which didn't go unnoticed by the former.

"Though... the only one with access to the information gathered from the background check is the principal, Nezu.

I, nor any of the other staff, are permitted to see your personal history unless you or your current guardians allow it. Nezu gave me the go ahead, and because of that paired with my personal scouting and information gathering, I see no need to conduct one of those tactless, let alone pointless, interviews. More then 80% of the people answering the questions, are likely to lie and tell me what I want to hear instead being honest about their work ethic to begin with.

Actions speak much louder than words, and that is something I am a firm believer on. People are hard to judge unless I get a good look at them myself. Otherwise it's like blindly putting your trust into a penguin who says he can fly"

"I... guess that makes sense" Izuku chuckled nervously and twirled a curl of his hair.

"And since you wish to at least give this job shadowing a shot, I hope to see great things. Expect to be released at 3pm today along with the rest of the students once the day is over, and after that, you can give me your answer. Any concerns?"

Izuku shook his head with a smile. "I think I'm good... Oh wait! I have just o-"

"Yo Eraser! You in here?"A loud voice boomed from the door that was pushed open.

In walked a tall lanky man with blond pointed hair and a massive grin. Aizawa naturally let out a frustrated sigh while Izuku simultaneously squeaked in excitement, forgetting any and all concerns in that moment. His hands covered his mouth and he gave a look similar to a kid who had just got a ticket to Universal Studios Japan on Christmas.

"Who's the kid?"

"Izuku Midoriya, the applicant I told you about. He's the one I-"

"OOOOOOH, so he must be your new assistant!" He shouted obnoxiously.

"Not yet, he is only-" Aizawa had to suppress a growl at Yamada, when the blonde simply blew him off to jump infront of Midoriya with his hand out stretched, eager to greet the boy who peeked the interest of his moody best friend.

"I'm Present Mic!" He greeted loudly taking the greenettes hand and shaking it repeatedly, almost frowning when he saw Midoriya's sweater sleeve slide down to reveal some nasty scars.

Almost.

Hizashi recollected himself and locked in his blinding smile. "Nice to meet you little listener! If you've caught Shota's eye then you must be a keeper!!" Aizawa felt himself die a little bit more inside as he buried his face into his scarf. Of course this went un-noticed by the oblivious Mic, who regularly made comments similar to that as if were his nature.

Izuku felt his mouth open and close in repetition as his brain scrambled to find words. "I-It's an honor! Oh my god, it's such a pleasure to meet you too!" The small boy managed to sputter out from his daze.

"Awe I'm flattered kid, though you are probably only saying that as a formality" He muttered towards the end (which was more like lightly yelling in all honesty).

Despite the amount of people who knew Mic, alot of people also didn't know him. Outside of being lumped in with the staff of UA, not many civilians knew of him. Or at least, not the amount he would prefer.

So it was a shock when the kid gave a look of disbelief and quickly shouted his own response, unable to control his nerves "N-no really! I'm serious!!" He stood up, gripping the hem of his sweater.  "I've always dreamed of meeting you! I used to listen to one of your radio stations back when I was a kid! Granted I didn't always know what was going on since it was an American based station and every one opted to speak English for the most part, but still! Everything about your quirk and profession is so cool and extraordinary! It's so fascinating how durable your vocal cords are, A quirk allowing you to have the ability to create such strong muscle tissue in order to withstand your own voice to such lengths, in turn allowing you to create such loud destructive sound... It's amazing!" He exclaimed with stars in his eyes.

"Back in middle school I actually did a project on what your muscle tissue would have to be composed of and the rate it would have to accumulate for repairs and- oh am I rambling? I was rambling wasn't I.., I'm so so sorry!" He apologized in embarrassment."I hope I didn't creep you out, I'm not a stalker I swear! I just love quirks and I'm interested in the science of them.." he trailed off, clenching the hem of his sweater. People used to always yell at him for analyzing their quirks without permission and said it was really creepy. Izuku didn't understand why that was the case but he tried to not just break people down apon the first meet. But cut him some slack! This is Present Mic they were talking about, the man was a legend.

Said "legend"  didn't know exactly what to say as he blinked slowly at the kid. He looked to Shota for help but he simply shrugged and took another sip of his coffee while Mic scowled silently at him and looked back down to the listener.

I mean, what did you say to someone who just rapid fired tons of information about their fascination with your quirk? Some may have found it weird, but Mic actually found it endearing and adorable. He laughed in amusement and ruffled Izuku's soft hair with a massive grin. "Seems ya' reeled in quite a fanboy, huh Eraser?" Aizawa rolled his eyes while Izuku's flush dusted across his freckles. He knew that look, and knowing Hizashi, he wasn't going to shut up about this for at least three days. Aizawa wouldn't even be surprised if he wanted to adopt the damn kid after this interaction alone.

Izuku looked down in apology, voice still a tad bit shaky. "I apologize, I've always just really a big fan of Heros..."

"Don't worry kid! I really appreciate the praise and I'm loving the energy. Glad to know I'm even still relevant" he laughed loudly. " Sorry if I glitched out for a bit, I wasn't braced for the fact that you actually knew who I was! Little to nobody gave me the warm reception I was expecting at the entrance exams, and man was that a kick to the ego! It's a relief to know people haven't just forgotten about me"

"Maybe it would've been better if they had, you drama queen"

Mic let out a sharp gasp. "How dare you?! Did you forget how that one time you-"

"Yeah yeah whatever, get over yourself 'Zashi, that was years ago-"

"IT WAS LAST WEEK-"

"Irrelevant. Now, do you mind? We were in the middle of a conversation" Shota hissed through his scarf. Ignoring the baffled man who gave a look of disbelief .

"Irrelevant my ass..." He huffed before his eyes widened. "Oh shoot, Speaking of, I came here to inform you that homeroom is waiting for you!"

Aizawa stood up with a sigh. " I would have been there already if a certain someone wasn't wasting my precious time" he glared at Mic who was obliviously stroking his hair with a dopey grin lazily hanging from his lips.

"Look alive Midoriya, the Monday vibes are about to sink in real quick." He yawned, waving off Mic. He opened and walked through the door, Izuku followed suit right after he bowed respectfully to Mic as a temporary farewell.

"See ya around kid, don't let storm cloud over there get to you!"

Izuku nodded with a small wave and closed the door, feeling a slight bit lighter.

Aizawa and his coffee maker stood infront of the entrance to homeroom, the only thing separating them from the class was the massive slide door with a red 1-A on the front.

The more Izuku thought about what could lie on the other side of that door, the more he felt his nerves starting to rack his entire existence.

"Are you ready?" Aizawa asked and glanced at the kid.

He was un-responsive seeming to be caught up in his own swarming head. The hero sighed and laid a hand on his shoulder, which promptly startled him with a jump.

"Midoriya, there is nothing to worry about, you'll fit right in with these trouble makers. They aren't a bad class, as much as I like to complain about them"

Izuku nervously nodded. He didn't know weither or not he should take that as a compliment, but nonetheless, he felt slightly better at the attempt to calm him down and gave a small nod. "I know you don't have much experience and you seem like the type to avoid large crowds, so stage fright is a given, but don't let it prevent you from giving it your all"

The slight bought of concerned gave the impression of a fatherly figure, something Izuku has never really experienced before. And that made him feel all the more comfortable at the extended hand of reassurance Aizawa was willing to provide on a whim.

'Maybe this won't be so bad after all...'

The door slid opened and curious students opt to turned their head towards the newcomers. Izuku's eyes scanned over the vast display of characters, until his hasty examination stopped dead in its tracks. He made eye contact with a pair of narrowed ruby red eyes which rivaled his own wide green ones.

Katsuki Bakugo's eyes at that.

...

Is the window still an option?
