Chapter 1
Kaisha's POV
The covers were ripped off me, causing me to shiver. "Oh give me a break. Get up, Kaishalla!" A voice boomed. I growled quietly as I opened one eye. "I've told you to stop calling me that..." I mutter to the older girl.
"Then grow up and I'll stop calling you that! Now hurry up, Miss Caroline booked a band performance to play for us! They're coming in an hour." My 'sister' Kenya scoffed and walked of.
I sighed defeated and forced myself out of bed and onto my feet. I wasn't a morning person... I used to be, before Kenya came to the adoption centre. She made sure my life was a living hell.
I went behind the changing curtain and put on a nice dress. It was a navy blue sundress with huge black polka dots. My hair was dark blue, and I put it up in two pigtails. With blue ribbons holding them up.
I skipped downstairs and quickly had some cereal, Crispy Munch. Everybody else had already eaten, so I was alone. As usual.
I sigh and put my empty bowl in the sink, washing it. As I finish putting it in it's proper spot, the tune of the doorbell rang throughout the adoption centre. I saw everybody run by the doorway to get to the front of the building, to greet the band. I tried hopping into the crowd, but was quickly shoved out.
I'm an outcast.
I waited for the crowd to pass before following a safe distance behind. Eventually I made it up to the main floor, and ran to the crowds of kids my age and older, asking the band multiple questions.
I was short, and in the back... So I couldn't see them. Determined, I ran around to the side next to my only 'friend', Lacey. We don't ever speak to each other... But we communicated by me giving her what she wants. It's just how it works.
I finally got a good look at the band. There was a tall, skinny, nerdy looking guy with wide framed glasses, and short black hair that just covered his forehead.
There was also a bigger guy, with a red bandana holding his spiked hair up like a volcano erupting.
Then there was a girl, shorter than the rest, who had short red hair, with a yellow hair clip to pin her bangs back.
And finally, the supposed 'leader'. He was taller than the nerdy guy, and wore an orange beanie. He had longer blue hair that came out the sides and back of his beanie.
"Hey kids, ready to hear the awesome music of Grojband?!" The leader asked. The group erupted with cheers. 'Grojband...' I think to myself and smile wide.
Miss Caroline set Grojband all up on a stage in the play room. The leader strummed his guitar and grinned. "Hey there! I'm Corey Riffin, frontman of Grojband!" He cheered. "This is Laney, Kin, and Kon! Now, let's start the party!"
Everybody cheered and ran around like crazy, shoving me down if they got the chance. I eventually was pushed into the stage, where I hit my head. I rubbed it and teared up, nobody paying any attention to me. I sobbed and shuffled deep into a corner near the stage, hugging my knees as I listen to the song Corey played.
"They make their sad sounds
And you see their frowns
When a bubble tries to rise
It tries to bring you down-
Oh!
After the first song, the band went to go talk with the other foster kids. I kept in my corner, knowing I was safest there. Eventually, Corey noticed me and walked over, kneeling in front of me. I was expecting some criticism.. Assuming the other foster kids told them crap about me.
But he just smiled at me.
"Hey there... Kaisha."
