Chapter One.

The two females stood face to face. Neither daring to make the first move.

The nature element stared at the taller female in front of her, her green eyes glowing with power, but her powers were weak compared to the powers of the mage in front of her.

The nature mage inhaled fearfully before narrowing her eyes as she raised her hands, causing vines to shoot out at Blaise who didn't even bat an eye. Flicking her wrist simply, Blaise kept eye contact with the girl as the vines withered and died quickly before they turned to dust.

The nature mage's eyes widened as she quickly tried to gain the upper hand, by trying to use her vines to tie up the Iris mage.

Blaise simply snorted and twitched her fingers, making a black line go through the vines before the vines once again withered and died, causing more dust to pick up in the wind.

The nature mage backed up a little but quickly raised her hands again, making the intense green glow brighten and trees began to sprout from the ground, surrounding Blaise and trapping her in their branches as vines swirled around the trees, entrapping her in the small confined space.

Loud audible gasps were heard from the crowd as they watched in awe.

" Surrender or I'll crush you!" The nature mage yelled confidently as she let out a relieved sigh.

An amused laugh echoed from within the trees confinement as Blaise laughed darkly which made the nature mage scrunch her eyebrows in confusion.

" Why are you laughing?! You've been defeated! Hand over your Elemental Stones now!" The nature mage yelled in an uncertain voice.

" This was fun, nature one. But I'm afraid to say, you've lost." Blaise said after her laughter quieted down.

" You're insane. I won!" The nature mage argued.

" Have you now?" Blaise chuckled quietly before going silent.

The crowd all fell into a hushed silence as a black smoke erupted from within the trees, shrouding the trees in a solid black cloud. The trees turned black and began to turn to dust in front of them. As the trees disintegrated, Blaise stepped out of the ruin with a smug expression. Her hair and eyes pitch black as she smirked.

" No... You... You have... " The nature mage stuttered with a terrified expression.

" That's right." Blaise smirked as a black Elemental Stone returned to her necklace.

" I surrender!" The nature mage yelled quickly, as she let out a fearful whimper.

" I'll be taking your Elemental Stone then." Blaise said calmly as he hair returned to its natural teal color, her eyes flashing back to their normal rainbow color as she smiled calmly.

" I... No, please..." The nature mage begged with tear filled eyes.

" I'm sorry... But I want it... You'll get it back next year... It'll be a long year but I think you can handle it... Now hand it over." Blaise flashed her black eyes making the nature mage look down sadly, her eyes full of fear.

" I, Willow Green hereby grant my Nature Stone to you Blaise Ladon. I do this by means of defeat in battle and accept my year without my powers." The nature mage whispered, causing her Elemental Stone to glow a bright green.

" I, Blaise Ladon accept Willow Green's Elemental Stone and take on the abilities that are bestowed with it." Blaise held out her hand as the nature Stone floated into the air and Willow took the Stone into hand, her eyes full of tears as she placed a kiss on the stone before laying it down in Blaise's hand.

Blaise's eyes flashed green as a bright green glow came from their entwined hands. Willow's green tinted skin began to fade until it turned a light peach color and Blaise's own skin began to tint green. Willow's hair faded from green to a strawberry blonde while Blaise's teal hair turned green.

Finally, their eyes met and Willow released a sigh as her vibrant glowing green eyes lost their glow and turned a dark brown color while Blaise finally returned to normal.

" I hate you, Blaise Ladon. This isn't the last you'll hear of me. I'll defeat you when I get my Stone back." Willow whispered angrily.

" That's what they all say, Willow Green. I will be awaiting you." Blaise replied calmly.

" One thing baffles me, how did you get a destruction stone?" Willow asked quietly.

Blaise's eyes momentarily flashed with a look of sadness, but the emotion was gone quicker than it appeared.

" Goodbye, Willow Green." Blaise replied curtly before bowing formally and turning away, her teal hair billowing in the wind as she stalked away.

Blaise.

My newly acquired nature stone lay comfortably on my chest, nestled beside my Iris Stone and my Destruction Stone.

The warm summer air warmed the skin of my tan arms as I made my way towards the villages only bar and grill. Although I knew I would not be welcome... I was hungry and knew that there would be no food for me back at home.

I ignored the fearful looks of the lower level Mage's as I walked past them and into the grill which instantly became deathly silent as I entered. My black boots made a dull thump against the floor as I made my way up to the bar where I took a seat, unfazed by the looks of fear I received.

None of the baristas made a move in my direction, they simply stood back with fearful expressions.

My eyes flashed red in anger but I quickly returned them to their normal color and slapped some money down on the table with an emotionless expression which made quite a few people jump in surprise.

" What can I get you, sweetheart? A steak? Or a drink?" A males smooth voice startled me slightly but I didn't let my emotions show as I kept my gaze ahead of me.

" Both." I replied curtly, still not turning to the male who was addressing me.

" You sure you have enough for that?" The male questioned, I could hear him approaching from behind me where he'd previously been serving a customer.

" I have it. Just get it for me. I'm in a hurry." I snapped, slightly annoyed as I knew where this conversation was going.

" Don't Drachenköter get their food during the night on their hunts? Why not wait until then?" The male asked with a snort.

I felt my eyes flash red in anger at his words.

" Just who do you think you are talking to?! I'm not a Drachenköter, I'm a Dragonborne and you'll do well to treat me with some respect." I whirled around in my chair, my eyes turning pitch black as I stared angrily at him. My eyes widened in slight shock but I quickly shook it away as I stared at the gorgeous male in front of me.

He was very attractive with a handsome yet slightly boyish face. He was lean and slightly muscular, standing just slightly taller than me... Maybe 6'4 or 6'3 while I am 6'0. His hair was a blue and was cut short and spiky. But his eyes caught me off guard, they were rainbow, just as mine were. He was an Iris mage.

Around his neck he wore a necklace that bore an Iris, Fire, Water and Destruction Elemental stones.

I turned my red gaze back to his face as he spoke.

" Calm down, sweetheart, it was a joke." The male said as he walked around to the other side of the bar where he took the money off of the counter to count over the amount before he returned some of the money to me.

" Steak and beer coming right up, sweetheart." The male winked at me before turning around and walking over to where the keg sat.

" Thanks. Oh and don't call me, sweetheart." I muttered harshly as I slip my money back into my wallet.

The male only chuckles quietly as he slides the beer over to me.

" Okay, then what do I call you?" He asked casually. The rest of the people in the building are still watching us with shocked expressions, probably because I haven't killed him yet.

" Blaise. Blaise Ladon." I replied after a moment as I wrap my hands along the cold mug.

" I've heard of you. You're pretty famous... Well, I'm Drachen. Malik Drachen." The male replied casually.

I gave no reply, watching as one of the baristas slipped away to make my food, I noticed that Malik was still waiting for an answer and heaved a sigh.

" I care why?" I muttered finally.

" I didn't say you did. But now you know." The male said, shooting me a wink before turning and walking away.

As I make my way home, my mind wanders back to what Malik had called me.

Drachenköter.

Literally translating to Dragon mutt. It's a very rude insult to call a Dragonborne a Drachenköter.

See along with the mage and human kind there's also Dragons, Dragonborne, Drachenköter, Drachenheiler, Wolfsblut, Katzenartig and the Jäger.

Katzenartig are descended from the cats, there's many different breeds but all share a common similarity, they can all turn human for a short amount of time...most choose not to though. But most do as they choose Mage's as mates. The Dragons don't associate with the Katzenartig anymore, so there's no Katzenartig/ Dragon hybrids. But there's Katzenartig/ Wolfsblut hybrids called Wolfskatze and Katzenartig/ Human hybrids called Katzenartige Kinder. The Mage and Katzenartige hybrids are just called FelineBorne.

Wolfsblut/ Human hybrids called Wolfskinder. Wolfsblut/ Mage hybrids are called WolfBorne. WolfBorne are very rare though, Mage's call Wolfsblut dirty mutts mostly and their children are always bullied by Wolfsblut and Mage children alike so Wolfsblut mostly avoid Mage's as potential mates.

Then there's the Dragonborne, Drachenköter and Drachenheiler.

Drachenköter are half human, half low level dragons. It's considered a very bad insult to call a Dragonborne a Drachenköter as Drachenköter are considered an abomination. But they're very common. Dragons come in many shapes, sizes, colors and level of power as well as intelligence. Instead of giving them names, the human scientists just gave them levels.

Level 1 Dragons are mostly used as pets, they're small and have the size and intelligence of a dachshund dog, being the weakest Dragon out there. They're small and lanky with snakelike bodies and webbed feet. They're very colorful with feathers along their heads and tails. They don't have wings and can't breathe fire or do magic. Romantic relationships between human and level 1 Dragons are strictly forbidden and are considered abominations.

Level 2 Dragons are smarter than level 1 Dragons but they still can't talk. They're only slightly bigger than level 1 Dragons and have eight finger like claws and are usually used for secretaries or assistants. They are usually brown and gray only. Romantic relationships between human and level two Dragons are strictly forbidden and are considered abominations.

Level 3 Dragons can talk but are very shy, mostly keeping to themselves out of fear for their lives. They're about the size of a miniature pony and mostly are gray or dark orange. They have feather duster looking wings that they can't use to fly with, but they can levitate small items like brooms or spatula... They're mostly used as janitors or cooks. Romantic relationships between human and level three Dragons are strictly forbidden and are considered abominations.

Level 4 Dragons aren't any smarter than the other lower level dragons but they've got more brute strength and can spit balls of boiling hot spit. Their hide is thick like armour and they have spikes all over their bodies. Their wings are pure spikes so they obviously can't fly and they can't do magic. They're used strictly as security guards and law enforcement helpers. Romantic relationships between human and level four Dragons are strictly forbidden and are considered abominations. Mostly being dark green or brown.

Level 5 Dragons are much smarter and slightly bigger than the lower level dragons. Having sleek almost completely smooth skin and two whiskers on each side of their faces. They have healing powers and can fly but don't have wings, they use their levitation powers on themselves to allow them to fly. They're mainly used as nurses for everyone and healers for Mage's during battle. They can turn into humans once a year but they're always albino and very tall, it's quite easy to find level five human turned Dragons in a crowd. Romantic relationships between human and level five Dragons are allowed but rare. They can't breathe fire but have large lungs and can create a rather large gust of cold air. They're always white or icy blue.

Level 6 Dragons are smarter and bigger than lower level dragons. Being much more temperamental then most dragons and scarier in appearance than their lower level cousins. They have curved back horns and a single horn on the top of their snouts. Spiked spines running along their back and down their tails where it ends in two very sharp teeth like spikes. Their claws are sharp and like an eagles talon. They mostly keep to themselves, staying in their volcanic homes where they live, only coming out to repopulate or eat. They never raise their children, so if their children are full blooded dragons then they're left to find for themselves. They can shoot little fire balls and have large, bat like wings that they can fly with. They can stay, human for two days but always have red or black hair and telltale orange eyes in human form. They mostly are red or orange. Relationships with humans happen more often so that they don't have to raise their offspring.

Level 7 Dragons are more powerful than their cousins. But mostly hoard gold rather than fight or use their abilities. They collect anything shiny and keep it in their dens which they guard with their lives. They live in large family groups and mostly spend their nights sleeping, going out in the day rather than going out at night like most dragons do. They have powerful mind altering abilities and can use an illusion ability to hide their dens. They can breath fire but the range isn't very long. They have large gold wings that they adorn with jewelry, but they can still fly. They're only seen in gold or silver colors and have scales that appear to be gold and silver coins. They can turn human for about two days and are harder to spot but they're always blonde or have silver hair but they usually only keep to their own species for their treasures safety reasons. Relationships between humans and level seven Dragons are allowed but very rare.

Level Eight Dragons are very powerful water based dragons. Usually growing up to the size of a dolphin. They're sleek and have seal like skin for easy movement through the water. They have webbed feet and a snake like body that they can propel easily through the water with their paddle like tails. They have very powerful water controlling abilities, can breathe under water and can walk on top of water when needed. They cannot fly however. They interact with humans a lot and can turn human for about four days. As a human they usually have very tan skin and blue hair with blue eyes. Relationships are allowed and more common than normal. They're always different colors of blue.

Level Nine Dragons are the most powerful common dragons. They have illusion abilities and levitation of large and small items. They breath under water and can control the wind. They're known for their size most of all, being the second largest of their kind and their scales are hard like armor. They breathe fire that has a very wide and long range. They also have very large feathered wings that allow them to fly with ease. They can stay in human form for up to a week but rarely take up relationships with them, choosing to simply explore and enjoy their company instead of forming romantic bonds like some. It's hard to tell the dragons from humans when they're in human form but their eyes are always gold with slits for pupils, almost like cat eyes. They mostly come in red, dark blue or white. Relationships between the Level Nine Dragons and humans are allowed but rare.

Level Ten Dragons are almost extinct because they're so highly valued and were hunter by the Jäger specifically for the healing properties their blood gives. Level ten dragons are the most powerful of all dragon kinds, being able to wield elemental stones just as humans can, making them incredibly dangerous. They also breathe blue fire, control water and breathe under water. Not to mention their blood heals basically everything, including poison. They are also the largest and most feared dragon out there, being about six stories tall. They also have illusion and ice control. They have very beautiful scales that change color in the light and are very hard like armor. They have a crown horns on the top of their heads and spiked running down their backs and ending at their tail ends. They're usually emerald green, Ruby red, black or sapphire blue. Sometimes red as well but it's not very common. It's impossible to tell these dragons from normal humans as they appear as very attractive humans. They can stay in human form for up to a year but they rarely do it anymore since their blood is so sought after. Relationships between the Level Ten Dragons and humans are allowed but never happen anymore as the dragons keep to themselves for safety.

The product of a human and level 1-4 Dragon are called Drachenköter, Dragon mutt. It's all but having a child with an animal since the level 1-4 dragons can't turn into humans.  Therefore it's illegal. The children are almost always abandoned so the parents don't get in trouble. They can turn into their half dragon forms which include feathers if they're level 1 offspring or spikes if they're level 4 offspring. None have wings in that form though and most don't have more than a few scales (or feathers) along their knuckles and on parts of their eyes.

Drachenheiler are the product of level 5 Dragons and humans. They're almost always doctors or companions for Mage's as they have healing abilities but can't wield elemental stones. They can turn half dragon as well but they have their Dragon parents whiskers and scale color.  They can also breathe underwater and can levitate a few small things.

Dragonborne are the product of level 6-10 Dragons and humans. They usually can wield elemental stones but some can't or just chose to stay with their dragon abilities.

I'm a level 6 Dragonborne but I chose to be more into the mage magics and I never knew my parents. I know my mom was a mage and my father was definitely a dragon and my characteristics all point to a level 6 Dragon as a father. Most turn half dragon but some can turn into miniature dragons.  All have wings when in this form but most can only glide. They have more scales along their arms and face when  in half form and claws.

Jäger are hunters.  They're illegal as well.  They're humans or mage kind that decided to use their skills or abilities to hunt Dragons and Dragonborne.

I'm a level 6 Dragonborne and have the ability to go half dragon but I don't really use my dragon abilities.  I chose the mage route.

The dragon kind are allowed to hunt freely at night, although attacking mage kind are illegal, humans are fair game but only when they're outside after dark...

I stopped suddenly as I finally made it to the orphanage where I lived, my gaze on the old brick building as I let out a sigh, mentally preparing for what was coming as I opened the door.
