Percy

Walking as quick as I could through SHIELD without losing my way, I read the files and tried to out walk the dark skinned man next to me. Multitasking in itself was a piece of blue cake, but with Nick Fury by your side and the day already having a rough edge to it, the task wasn't as smooth.

"You had to wake me up from my nap, exactly at this time?" I growled at the director.

"Well, to be fair I didn't know you were napping, but that explains all the unfinished paperwork."

I made a sound in the back of my throat and shoved the folder into the directors chest stopping him momentarily. I did my work, I was just given some extremely boring ones that I believed weren't important enough to do.

"Why is Loki part of the avengers?" I questioned him to get him off subject.

He sighed before shaking his head and answering. "He was controlled during the invasion and build up to it."

"Thought so." I replied.

Fury looked at me like a baffled monkey before retaining his regular posture. I had my own opinions on Loki, after all, he brought the invasion to New York. That says something, but that battle also cost my mother and step father their lives.

When we reached the room I assumed held the infinity stone, I didn't expect a group of scientists running around like something was chasing them. There was no danger that I assessed, so I just cocked my head to the side and looked at Nick.

"One day I need to retire." He mumbled, putting a hand to his forehead. "What's going on?"

They all froze, panic on their faces as their boss caught them off task. Slowly some man approached the director looking down as he talked. Clearly nervous, but of what I couldn't tell.

"The infinity stone, it attacks anyone that comes near it. We haven't gotten much info on it, so it's best you take it to Thor."

I frowned, it was fine with me. Besides the five minutes it tried to kill me. I walked closer to the tank holding it, a clear box. Placing my hand on the glass, I waited. At first the stone tried attacking where my hand was placed, but after a few moments it sensed familiarity and calmed down, cozying up to my palm.

All the scientists gasped and looked at me confused and fearful. I smirked at them, scaring them a bit more. Suddenly, the wall blasted open. Everyone flew into the wall, but I was close enough to the pedestal holding the infinity stone that I could grab hold and not fly.

Everyone was knocked out, chitauri came flooding through the hole in the wall. Faintly I could see the outline of a portal with a stand of power next to it containing the transporter.

"Grab the soul gem!" One of the chitauri ordered the rest.

Their gazes fell on me, great. They roared charging at me. Instantly I narrowed my eyes and straightened. I pulled my Olympian silver sword out of its sheath and stepped in front of the "soul gem."

Several of them had guns and started randomly shooting at me. I cursed and dove to the side, taking the box with me. Good thing I did too, because next thing I knew, the box had shattered as a bullet hit it.

Glass showered me, embedding itself in my hair and skin. I hissed as I slid along the floor, clutching the stone as I did. The green gem grew hot and liquified, sliding up my shirt, resting on my heart, before traveling down to my left hand and clamping down on my finger like a ring.

I decided I'd figure it out later, but right now my boss and little science buddies were in danger. As well as anybody else in SHIELD. I needed to shut the portal down.

Jumping up, I charged at the nearest alien. Running it through as it let out a surprised scream. As soon as heads turned, I vanished through the vapor. Reappearing next to the biggest clump of uglies.

Sheathing my sword, I pulled my knife. Slicing one's neck and gutting the one behind him. A roar interrupted my attacking spree, making me quickly turn towards the sound. I was met with a chitauri wielding a long sword.

Stepping back and thrusting my leg forward, I tripped the charging dude. He fell flat on his face. I used his back as a spring board and jumped over a few more aliens, heading towards the portal.

Dropping my knife, I pulled my gun. Shooting anything within a five foot radius that moved. I swiftly advanced towards the portal. The portion of alien guarding it lifted their weapons, but right before they attacked, I disappeared.

Once I reappeared, my sword was already out and I swung at the column that maintained the portal. Hitting it right in the center, a blast ensued. Sending all the chitauri flying with me.

This time I had nothing to keep me from getting a hug from the wall. I hit it full force, breaking through it. I groaned as I heard some ribs crack. I'll definitely get some bruises.

"Grab the halfling! The same chitauri from earlier ordered, "He holds the soul gem!"

Why haven't I killed him yet I asked myself, groaning a bit as I got up. In the corner of my eye I saw Fury and a couple scientist stirring. About time. Before I had a chance to begin another thought, the aliens opened fire. I thought I got all the ones with guns.

I reacted too late, just as the water formed in front of me as a shield, two bullets passed. One I managed to block with my sword, the other got me in the left shoulder. I grunted in pain as it spurted blood.

The lead chitauri approached me, his gun posed in front of him. He chuckled as I raised my sword. I glared at him, he was even uglier up close.

"Ew, I hope you clean up before go out on dates because damn you're ugly." I snorted at him.

That probably wasn't the best thing to say I realized about point two milliseconds later when he shot his rifle at my leg. I cursed myself in my head as I barely missed being nailed. Fates be with me as it grazed my skin, didn't hurt that bad, but still hurt.

As soon as the chitauri had shot me, he barreled towards me. I barely had enough time to side step away from the enraged alien, but the guy had obviously learned as he swung his gun like a bat catching me in the stomach.

I grunted as the wind got knocked out of me and I landed face first on the ground. I groaned as I struggled to get up. My leg and shoulder burned like fire, but nothing I couldn't deal with.

A foot pushed me down to kiss the ground again as I tried to rise. The foot which I would bet a thousand bucks was the ugly leader placed itself on the center of my back. The pressure increased as he leaned forward slowly cracking my ribs. I heard the gun click and next thing I knew, the cold metal was pressing against my cheek.

"Give us the infinity stone." The guy hissed, " Or die."

I chuckled at him as heartily as I could, "No."

The chitauri leader probably looked confused as hell, but he still growled at me, "You're alone now halfblood. You left your friends and cast away your family. So who are you willing to die for now?"

"Me." Fury stated surprising all the chitauri as a gun was cocked pointing at the one who was pressing me to the floor.

I cursed, of all the times Fury could get up, he chose my moment? I turned my face towards him and glared, he looked calmly back. In the few precious seconds of shock left, I vanished from underneath the chitauri.

I reformed myself right behind the falling alien and cocked my arm back. Swinging with revenge in mind, I decked the alien hard enough to knock him a few feet back. Then I swung my fist towards the ground, shooting the aliens with the other hand.

Once my flesh met the floor, the ground quaked and knocked all the opposers off their feet. I dropped my gun and raised my hands up towards Olympus. Creating water from thin air, I froze it until it was ice and thrust it towards all the remaining chitauri killing them. When they all fell dead, I glared harshly at Fury.

"You couldn't wait five more minutes could you?" I asked him exasperated.

"Looks like you needed help, but you didn't even let me pull the trigger." He complained.

I rolled my eyes, "Because I didn't need your help."

"You're going to need my help to make it to the medical bay."

I didn't argue against that because I could already feel my adrenaline fading.

"What did they want?" Fury asked, getting to business.

"The infinity stone, they called it the soul gem." I said tiredly, Swaying as the blood loss got to me.

"And did they get it?"

Ok, so the director not just see me kill them in front of his eyes? The room trashed and the portal closed? I shook my head as blackness danced across my vision. Raising my hand, I present my new jewelry. Boy did my boss look astonished.

"No director."

Tell me what you think...
