XI

Stark

Agent Jackson hopped off of where he lay in the room. Once on his feet, his right foot immediately buckled and his body fell forward. The god next to him quickly grabbed him, stopping his fall.

Agent Jackson cursed under his breath, but held on to the god supporting him.  He gave the blonde a nod of thanks before turning to Zeus.

"There's a war coming," Agent Jackson stated, then turning and looking pointedly at his father,"We don't have time to dally on past mistakes. We need to prepare."

Zeus growled in agreement,"Take one war at a time, brother."

"Pardon, uncle," the woman in all silver spoke up,"But, Perseus, what exactly happened in Tartarus? Where did Thanos go?"

"I used Loki's magic to send Thanos into Hel and keep him there," Jackson replied, sitting back down,"While I dissipated his molecules and stole his soul."

A shiver took me,"So you're like the grim reaper!"

Agent Jackson's hard gaze tunneled in on me. I smirked at him, he should smile a bit. Stop acting like ole Natasha when she's on her period.

"Sort of, in a way," Agent Jackson murmured softly.

"We need to go to Asgard!" Thor proclaimed loudly out of the blue,"Father should know of these events."

"No." Zeus thundered dangerously, lightning flashing,"I'm not sending the stone and our most powerful asset into a different Parthenon."

Thor's eyes flashed angrily,"Father must—"

"Oh shut up, Thor," Loki interrupted,"They wish to protect their forsaken blood. Odin can just come here if he so desperately wishes to know."

"Brother," Thor reasoned,"Father would never—"

"Which is why it's unnecessary to waste time bringing Perseus to Asgard," Loki drawled bored,"I'm not even allowed back until my sentence is up."

"Wait," Agent Jackson interrupted,"Sentence? You were controlled."

"That's what was proven," Loki sneered,"But since the all-father says, I should've been able to gain back enough control to stop the war, I shall be punished by staying on Midgard."

"That's not fair," Agent Jackson argued.

"That's what I said," I snorted,"What's he punishing us for?"

"Whatever," Loki growled,"It doesn't matter. It's over with, just bring Odin here to inform him and we'll be on our way."

"Fine, but there's something else you all should know." Agent Jackson said.

"What, Perseus?" Athena questioned inquisitively,"Have you not told us everything?"

"When I used Loki's magic," Agent Jackson informed annoyed,"I also cast a spell on Tartarus. As long as Tartarus isn't in Tartarus, he's killable if the strike if fatal."

"Is that it?" A really buff guy snorted, dark sunglasses covering his eyes with a spear at his side.

"Yes, because if Tartarus falls, then so will hell. Once monsters die, there's no reforming," Agent Jackson snapped back,"No blasts of godly power, only weapons can kill him. Before I cast the spell, none of it was possible. I made sure all falls when he does."

I sucked in a breath,"Whoa. Nice job ki—Jackson."

He ignored me. For a twenty-year-old he sure was mean. I thought the older you were, the less patience you had. Like Fury, he's pretty dam old, but it seems like he has more control than Agent Jackson.

"We'll reside in Stark's tower," Agent Jackson declared,"IM me when Odin is here, and the meeting has commenced."

"Hey wait—" I started protesting, but not getting to finish as Agent Jackson disappeared into thin air.

"I love it when he does that!" The god with the snakes on a stick exclaimed.

"Yeah, uncle P," the god who healed Agent Jackson agreed,"Why didn't any of your other kids do that?"

"Because Percy's more powerful than any of them." Poseidon admitted proudly.

Percy

Once I reappeared in the kitchen of Starks tower I collapsed. Bracing myself against the table, I stood on my left leg. Steeling my nerves, I took a step towards the fridge.

Quick light steps worked well and I was able to make it. As soon as I stopped and stood still, not a second went by before I buckled.

Cursing Thanos to his grave, I clung to the fridge door. Grumbling, I opened it and snatched stuff to feed myself with. Also a large bar of chocolate to snack on because who doesn't like chocolate.

While waiting for the food to heat up, I munched on my chocolate. An odd feeling overcame me and I sensed a bubbling internal soul coming.

Without turning, I knew who it was. The green flash gave it away, but even without it, his soul alerted me.

"Loki," I greeted.

"Hello Percy." The silver tongue replied.

I scowled,"Please don't call me that."

I could practically feel his curiosity,"Pray, may I ask why."

"No."

"Very well..." Was the soft reply.

The silence continued as my food took longer than a century to heat up. As a peace offering I broke off a large piece of chocolate and handed to him. He took it and nodded in acknowledgment to its meaning.

I took a bite of my chocolate chewing on it thoughtfully. Glancing at Loki who munched on his contently, I realized that he was different than first thought. His thoughts were distant sounds in the back of my head that I tried to ignore, but they continued getting louder. Looking over at me, his eyes widened as they connected with mine.

Suddenly, I was thrust into the battle of the chitauri. Loki was leading them, but it was like I was one with him. Together we watched from inside a glass box in his mind. His movements not his, his words not his, but the emotion of hate was his.

Inner loathing as he failed to gain back his body. The berating and cursing of himself. Then we were transported to a different scene. I recognized the structure of Asgard and the room that held an old man with an indifferent expression on his face.

A distinct crowd in the background with distrustful faces. The betrayal as his brother and mother stood by while he was banished from his home for not being strong enough. Sadness and pain struck Loki's heart strings and his mask went up to hide his true emotions.

As hard as I could, I wrenched myself out of Loki's mind. I gasped for breath and tried to stand, but my foot buckled. My hands were sweating so I couldn't grip the table in time.

Strong arms wrapped themselves around my waist, stopping my fall. The firm hand held onto my hips in a reassuring way. I looked into Loki's vibrant green eyes apologetic. His face was stoic, but I saw the pain behind the walls of his eyes.

"I'm sorry," I apologized.

"It wasn't your intention, Perseus," Loki whispered.

I shivered involuntarily as his voice spoke my name. I blushed, but instantly wiped the color off my face. He loosened his grip on me and I stood, leaning against the table. I looked down, noticing our fallen sweets. Bending over, I picked them up and placed them on the table.

Glancing over at Loki, his vision was focused on my backside. I glared at him, ignoring the odd emotion coming from his eyes. We both settled back to leaning against the table. I grabbed my chocolate once more, disposing of my burned food. The ruined remains of when we were stuck in his flashback.

"My love of a lie." I spoke, feeling like I owed him for intruding in on his inner emotions.

"Pardon?" Loki questioned.

I took a deep breath,"She used to call me Percy."

Loki waited for me to continue, not interrupting, thankfully. If he did I don't know if I would be able to continue.

"My past lover, her name was Annabeth. I was her Percy, only hers. When the truth came to light, that the girl I loved never even existed, I left Percy behind."

Flashback

I was holding her in my arms. She lay limply while holding onto the love I had for her as a lifeline. Blood dropped out of her mouth as the spear in her body punctured her lung.

"Elysium, I'll see you in Elysium." I promised.

She smiled grimly at me, sadness in her eyes,"No you won't."

Her eyes closed on me and she crumbled into dust. Her skin drying up to clay and breaking apart to become one with the ground again.

"She died after her encounter with the sky. When I was 14, in the throne room. The gods created fake memories and implanted them in my brain. They called Prometheus to recreate her body, Athena her memories, and Aphrodite her emotions."

"To dust we come from, and to dust we return." I said solemnly.

Tell me what you think...
