My footsteps were the only thing in the hall that made noise in the hallway. I was approaching the room I had to meet Kate in.
I reached for the doorknob on opened the door. The room was silent as I walked in, it was like a interrogation room one table two chairs and Kate was in one of them. "Hi Adam!" She said she pointed to the chair "have a seat." She said I sat down quietly
"Hi." I greeted her
"I only have a few questions for you before I let you off and you can go do your stuff"
"Okay that sounds good." I say
"How do you feel about being a apprentice in the keeper exam?" She asked her first question.
I thought about how I should answer " I think it's fine I'm excited but nervous at the same time."
She wrote my response down then asked the next question " do you think you have what it take to become the keeper?"
"Yes I do I feel that I have all the traits you should have."
"what is you greatest weakness and strength?" She asked politely
"Well my weakness is probably that I can't change into things that are not living. And my strength is that I can change into and change things almost instantly."
"Great now how far are you willing to go to become the keeper?"
"I am willing to put my life on the line."
"On a scale from 1-10 how how would you rate your abilities when coming to control your gift?"
"To be honest I can say there is improvement but i will as about a 9." I say confidently
"Did you resent spending time in you childhood training for the keeper exams?"
"Yes I trained my power but I had no idea I was going to be entered into this!" I said
"Do you think you are prepared for the exams?"
"Yes I do I have Ben practicing hard."
"What emotion do you feel when you think of becoming the keeper?"
"I feel like I can do anything so happy emotions."
"What would your first order as keeper be?" She asked me
"My first order would have to be to make sure that all hybrids and humans are treated as equals." I say
"What qualities does it to become the keeper?"
"I think that you have to have kindness boldness, you have to be smart and that you need to know your own weakness."
"Ok that's it see you in the exams!" She said
"Okay." I said standing late walked past me with her papers and she stumbled and dropped the papers she was holding. I leaned over to pick the papers up when I handed the papers to her when I felt like a sharp pain in my index finger I looked at my finger and there was a tiny trickle of blood.

I stand in the halls as I am about to talk with Kate. I am not nervous. I have been in worse situations at home. I mean, you don't know what it's like to get reprimanded for not talking to a stranger! I don't know why she called for me, but it shouldn't be anything bad. The only big happening since arriving was the run in with Apollo. You know, she was a good opponent. I'll remember her.
"Wednesday, please come in." Said Kate. I walk into the office and sit down.
"You are probably wondering why I called you in here?"
"The thought crossed my mind."
"Well, I want to ask you some questions about your gift and the like."
"Ok."
"How do you feel being an apprentice in the keeper exams?"
"Well, it was a surprise at first. I thought that almost everyone in the outside world, excluding my family, had quirks like me. Now I have come to grips with my gift, and I feel confident."
"Ok, do you feel you could be the Keeper?"
"I know I could do it if I tried. Addams' don't give up."
"What do you think your biggest strength is? And your greatest weakness."
"My greatest weakness would have to be kindness. I mean, I have been trained by my parents to be sullen and dreary for my whole life. Since I was homeschooled, I haven't been effected by the outside world as much as the others have. My greatest strength would have to be using my crossbow. I have been trained in the art of firing all kinds of fire arms and weapons."
"How far would you go to become Keeper?"
"As with everything that I become interested in, I would kill if It came to getting ahead. If you can't tell, I'm very competitive."
"I could tell. On a scale of 1-10, how well do you rate how you can control your gift?"
"8. I can easily transform myself when the need arises, but it takes me a while to calm down and morph back. Other than that, I can transform other things with speed and accuracy."
"Do you feel cheated since you are just now learning about your gift?"
"Not really. My parents raised my brother and I to embrace our uniqueness, and I just accepted it as part of who I was and still am."
"If something happened and you could only save one member of your family, who would you choose?"
"That isn't a question I can answer." I say and start to get up.
"Sit back down and answer my question, Wednesday."
"When your an Addams, it is family first, family last, and family by and by. I would rather die than choose only one person."
"Well in this particular instance you can't die, so who would you pick?" I sigh a sigh of defeat.
"My fiancé." Kate raises her eyebrows.
"Your fiancé?" She says in a questioning tone.
"Yes, his name is Lucas Beinekie, and I love him with all of my heart, and it scares me! I feel weird when I'm around him yet I know he is the one for me!(I am yelling by this point) I never got to say goodbye to him before I was brought here, and he will never be able to come here because, like me, he is human. I miss him terribly, and I think that we are done here." I stand up and look at Kate.
"Thank you for coming, Wednesday."

I flatten the wrinkles on my blue dress. I look at myself in the mirror one more time before I leave my room. It would’ve been nice to wake up this morning and go to train with Jace and the others, but my “trainer” decided he wouldn’t tell me about the interview until ten minutes till. Luckily, he had enough courtesy to get me a dress to wear. So ever since I had woken up, I had been preparing for what may either help or ruin my reputation.
I stiffly walk to Kate’s office, which is near the training center. Once there, I wait for what seems like forever. I mean, if I had known it would take this long, I would’ve been able to sleep for at least ten more minutes. Finally, the door to Kate’s office opens and I’m beckoned in.
The room looks plain; it has metal walls much like the training center and the cafeteria. Honestly if this were my office, I’d burn it. Kate motions to a chair for me to sit, and I obey.
“Hi, I’m-“ She starts.
“Kate, I know.” Wow Sabrina, way to make a good first impression.
“Of course you do; you’re Sabrina Whyte I presume.” I nod my head. “Okay, well today I’ll be asking you some questions about being the Exams and what not.
“To start off, how do you feel about being an apprentice in the Keeper Exams?”
I think about this for a second. How should I respond? No doubt there is a certain criteria to answering these questions and that Kate is grading my every reply.
“Um… I guess relieved. I finally have something to do with my life instead of being cooped up at home.” Kate quickly jots something down on a piece of paper and looks back up at me.
“Okay, on to the next question: do you think you have what it takes to be the Keeper?”
“To be honest, no. I just learned about this whole society a few days ago, and I’m still learning to control my gift.” Again, Kate writes something down on her piece of paper. I wonder if she’s doing that just to make my feel uncomfortable.
“What is your greatest weakness and strength?”
“If I say my greatest weakness and strength out loud, people might hear me and try to use that to their advantage. I don’t think I should answer that one.” Kate looks me in the eye for a second. It’s almost like she was trying to analyze my feelings. This time, she doesn’t write anything.
“Moving on, how far are you willing to go to become the Keeper?”
“I’m not going to kill anyone is that’s what you’re asking.” Kate’s eyes look sad when I say this.
“I thought the same thing.” She mumbles. Wait, what? Does that me she actually killed someone? Her? “Anyway, on a scale from one to ten, how would you rate your abilities when controlling your gift?”
“A four; I still am unable to use my gift properly.” I state simply.
“Since you weren’t raised Hybrid, do you feel cheated for not getting to train as a child?”
“I don’t feel cheated because I wasn’t trained, I feel cheated because I had to discover my Gift on my own.” Kate picks her piece of paper up again and begins her writing routine again.
“Do you feel like you are prepared for the Exams after you’ve had the chance to train here in our facilities with our trainers?” I laugh openly at this.
“Considering my trainer did nothing but call me “unstable”, I’d have to say no. It’s hard learning about your Gift all on your own.” A sympathetic look crosses Kate’s face for a second, but it disappeared as quickly as it appeared.
“Does the chance to become Keeper or part of the Guarde excite or terrify you?”
“Neither really. I don’t really fit in here or back home, so I guess I’m in between. “
“If you were to become the Keeper, what would your first order be?” Kate gives me an intense look, which I guess means I have to really think about this answer.
“I would make it so that kids will become aware of their gift before they turn ten, so that way their Gift won’t show up out of the blue.”
“And lastly, what qualities do you think it takes to be Keeper?” Immediately I think of a thousand different response to this, but then I think, ‘these are all Sunday school answers. What’s a real quality?’
“Uh… Being wise and being under control. You need to be wise because you have to make important decisions, and you have to be under control because you’re supposed be the “best of the best”; you need to be able to control your Gift.” Kate writes one last thing on your paper and then looks up.
“Thanks Sabrina, please send in the next apprentice. “ And with that, I leave. I didn’t realize until now how shaky my hands are. Why was I so nervous? It’s not like I actually care about this. I mean, I don’t want to be the Keeper, right?
