Samantha 'Root' Groves.
After seventeen years of marriage to a man, Samantha realizes that she's gay. She leaves her husband and her job as a therapist to work as a bartender at a gay bar.
It had been a lifelong dream of hers to tend bar but getting married at eighteen years old put a pause in her plan. She grew up.
Married young and started college and got a PhD in psychology. She thought her chance to go out and have fun was over, nonexistent.
As it turns out, it pays to be with a man who doesn't want children. If not for that, she'd be tied to him forever. She wanted to get the fuck out of California and run. Away from the responsibilities of being a grown up.
But newly single and jobless, she now has the time to go out and be the kid she never got the chance to be.

Sameen Shaw.
Shaw had always been a bit reckless. She never really grew up. Her life up till now has consisted of three things; drugs, sex and girls. She had always meant to grow up but when her mother got sick, she didn't have the time. They needed money and Shaw's dad was ex army, paralyzed from the waist down. So, Shaw did what she had to to keep them afloat.
She worked in a gay bar as a stripper with fourteen years of experience under her belt. After her mother passed away, she stopped trying to grow up.
She was free to be whoever, whatever, nothing to tie her down. Except maybe her father, who demands she find a wife and stop acting like a child.
