Case 12
The trio sat in the cell in silence after seeing the death of the boy who had the misfortune of encountering an alternate. They can remember how lifeless his eyes got overtime as the alternate slowly drove him M.A.D. which ultimately drove him into his cruel fate. It almost reminded Mark of his almost demise at the hands of the alternate who took Caesar's appearance. Speaking of which, he never knew what became of his friend after the encounter with the alternate. Part of him knew that the chances of him being alive were low since there were almost no evidence that someone could survive an attack. Then again, the evidence came from the authorities which weren't reliable in this grave situation surrounding the alternates.
"I...Is that how alternates kill people?" Lincoln said shuttering. Mark remembered that knowledge about alternates wasn't spread throughout the world like the authorities claimed. It was another sin against those authorities who abandoned him at his lowest moment and left him to die. If only he was granted that mercy since he was captured and transformed into one of these disturbing things.
"Yes. They use their words to slowly drive their targets M.A.D and cause them to do the unthinkable." Mark said.
"Yet no government told us about this and let us live our lives in the dark?! How long have they been doing this." Lincoln said.
"I really don't know. They could've been around for several centuries and slowly terrorizing people to not draw any unnecessary attention." Mark said. This caused Lincoln to become shocked since he truly had no idea about them until he was captured by that strange man. The man felt different compared to most of the alternates that he has seen, but was still an ally to them. An ally that had no issues capturing people and throwing them into a cage where they would get a fate that is worse than death. Before Lincoln could descend into a breakdown, Jonah said something that caused his blood to run cold.
"They're not going to force us to do the same thing to others...right?" Jonah said. Lincoln and Mark knew that the alternates would have no issues forcing them to do such a despicable thing. They would continue to force them to drive people M.A.D until they breakdown completely and follow their orders. It was the most obvious move, but also the one with the greatest risk of escape. Even then, Lincoln could tell that they would keep a close eye on them to make sure that the risk would occur. Hopefully, he could use this to at least give a warning to his sisters and friends...though if he had the chance, he would need do it in a way that won't draw any attention to himself. He just needed to plan how to do so and maybe....
He could save his sisters and everyone else from these alternates.
Speaking of his sisters, the girls were busy trying to figure out where to find their missing brother. Though some, Lori and Lynn, still weren't activity trying to help them in any way which is slowly driving the rest insane.
"Lori, come help us with this please." Luan said.
"I will help in a second, I just need to call my Bobby Boo Boo Bear to see how he's doing." Lori said which caused most of them to roll their eyes. She was obsessed with Bobby and the recent disappearance of his little sister only made that obsession worse.
"I know that you're worried for Bobby and his mother, but you really need to help us." Luna said.
"Why? You guys want Lincoln back while I'm glad that his bad..." Lori began before Lola stopped her.
"If you don't help then I'll tell Bobby about your careless attitude during this whole incident. I can imagine that he would be disgusted and instantly dump you for abandoning your little brother." Lola said.
"You're bluffing..." Lori said.
"Am I? Your precious Bobby thinks that you're a wonderful older sister who treats us nicely and never acts too selfishly around us. So what would happen if reality is shoved into his face and he sees the truth. Would he honestly keep dating a liar who not only illegally drove her brother out of the house, but doesn't care about finding him." Lola continued. That caused Lori to grumble before helping out what Lynn crossed her arms.
"You may have dirt on Lori, but you surely don't have any on me." Lynn Jr. said.
"So it's okay for you to "borrow" that mascot costume and force your brother into it while forbidding him from taking it off on a hot day?" Lola said.
"Fine, what do you want me to do?" Lynn Jr. said. As the two started to help, the others all looked at Lola with raised eyebrows.
"I didn't think that would happen." Lana said.
"They just didn't want the world to know what they have done. Mainly cause if word were to spread, they would become pariahs and lose everything." Lola said.
"But..." Luan started to say before Lola continued.
"I know that we're not saints in this, but we have to fix our mistake. Though...these two wouldn't lift so much as a finger to do anything. Unless someone manages to open their eyes to the consequences." Lola said. Lisa was about to ask a question before hearing someone bang on their front door:
BANG! BANG! BANG!
When their parents opened the door, they froze and everything went quiet until a shout echoed around the house....
WHAT IN THE WORLD WERE YOU BOTH THINKING WHILE LINCOLN SUFFERED!
Leading to an interesting conversation that will lead to emotions exploding and maybe another family member seeing how wrong they were in all of this. However it is yet to be determined whether they would see things clearly before it is too late.
Hope you enjoyed the chapter...Bye 👋
