Chapter 2

Mrs Everglades POV

"James, stop that! Your hurting Charlie." I cried as I saw the girl on the ground clutching her stomach and the boy with a smirk on his face.

"I don't know what your talking about miss. I'm not even near her, how could I be hurting

her." He said grinning at me.

I replaced my scowl with the same grin as him. "James, I wasn't born yesterday. And I have

been taking care of you for years now." I looked at him and glared. "I know."

"I'm sorry miss." He said before Charlie stopped squirming on the ground in pain, she shot

him a look that could kill once she caught her breath.

"Now then, can I continue the story?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at the students around

me.

"Yes miss," they all chorused, except for one that is. I got up and begun to walk towards the

midnight and crimson haired girl.

"What's your name?" I asked, startling her slightly as she looked up from the floor.

"Oh um. My name is, eh i-it's Scarlet." She smiled, but it was more fearful than happy. I

gave a warm smile back, trying not to laugh at the fact that she has scarlet streaks in her hair and wore red while her name was Scarlet. 'Sounds like me' I thought.

"Would you like me to continue the story?" I smile towards her.

"Oh, um, yes please." She replies before looking back down at the carpet by her feet,

playing with the fraying threads as if they were more interesting than what was around her.

"Okay then," I say, placing my hands together before walking back to the front. "Now where

was I?" I ask myself as I sit down, "ah yes."

Emeralds POV

"You are aren't you?" The lady asked. And both her and Snowdrop stared at me, I didn't know what to say so turned away from the brown hair woman to the white hairs girl, changing the point of the conversation as quickly as possible.

"What were you talking about before? About me being a mutant or something." Snowdrops

eyes grew wide as those words left my mouth, before quickly turning to the lady.

"You two are mutants?" The lady questioned in shock, yet hiding something else.

"No no, we're not mutants. Why would you think that?" Snowdrop said, trying to laugh as if

it were a funny joke, but you could hear the nerves in her shaking voice.

I turn back to the unknown lady in the room, 'but what is it about her, the way she looks at

me, it's all too familiar. What, someone's in my thoughts, in my head, who's there?' I ask myself, but at the same time I feel like I am asking someone else.

I am brought back out of my strange thoughts as the lady begins to speak again. "Okay, for

one thing girl, I am not 'lady', my name is Krystal." She said before turning to Snowdrop, "and don't bother trying to lie to me, I can see the truth."

Snowdrop and I looked at each other. "But Emerald didn't call you a lady," Snowdrop said

with a stern look on her face.

"Yes I did," I say, earning myself confused looks from both of the women in the room. "I did,

well, I said it in my mind, and as I said it I felt something-no someone in my mind." I ignored the odd looks on me as I turned to Krystal, "that was you, wasn't it? You were in my mind." She didn't answer.

"Your not supposed to feel the presence of a telepathic in your mind," Snowdrop

commented, an almost concerned look on her face. Is it bad that I can feel her in my mind? A look of remembrance crossed Snowdrops face before she turned back to Krystal, "and you." She said pointing "your a mutant, why were you acting so, so-so human?" An almost desperate look came across Snowdrops face as she accused Krystal.

A solemn look spread across Krystal's face as she seemed to get ready for a lengthy story.

"Lately the military, they've taken their want for mutants to be gone to an extreme level," she gave a sigh. "They've been sending out mutants to capture or kill other mutants, it's their secret weapon, because you don't know who to trust." I could feel my face pale at those words.

"But that doesn't make sense, why would you show us you were a mutant so easily if your

life was on the line." Snowdrop shouted, clearly distressed by the new found information.

"Because there not all bad, some of them will lie, say no one was there." She said in a

desperate voice, trying everything to defend them, the question is why?

"But why, why would they do that? They obviously get paid, for them to turn against their

own, they have no morals, why would they help. Besides, they'd probably get killed for helping us, and the people in charge aren't that stupid they wild send two groups to each house. They wouldn't risk it, your lying, your probably lying about people turning against each other as well." Snowdrop practically growled, her breathing slightly laboured from her outburst.

"Because they were captured. Why would they want to do something to someone else, that

had hurt them so much? So you show them who you truly are." Krystal said, a look of sadness and respect on her face, Snowdrop begun to open her mouth as if to speak up again, but Krystal cut her off. "Before you ask why you would take that risk, because of you don't show who you are you will get captured by those defending the other mutants, because they are taking normal people. They know those higher up will just release them, so they take them instead." She turned to me, her eyes drooped, the original smile present on her face while she greeted me, seeming as if it never existed. "By the sounds of it they tried to make you one of their slaves, but they gave up once they realised you were too powerful."

Snowdrop and I looked at each other, "what do you mean?" She questions one of her eye

brows raising, taking the words right out of my mouth.

"Don't tell me you couldn't feel the connection between the two of you?" Krystal questions

almost sarcastically, a half smirk on her face.

"Yes, I could." We both say together simultaneously, giving each other a quick confused

glance.

"But why?" I asked, separately this time.

Krystal gives a small chuckle before answering, "I can't believe that you didn't pick up on

this Princess Snowdrop. You both share the same element." She gave an almost amused look.

"But only one person can hold an element at a time!" Snowdrop said to Krystal, before

slowly turning to me, before continuing her statement slower, "unless you can hold all six." She turned back to Krystal almost asking if it was true.

"Okay, your a princess?" I asked looking at Snowdrop, she gave a small nod, "what are the

six element? And why the hell do I feel a connection with you two? Huh, explain that!" I practically screamed with frustration.

"Wait a minute, you feel a connection with both of us?" Snowdrop asked, but more so to

herself, "but that means that you must control an element." Snowdrop beamed, turning to Krystal, "what element do you control?"

"I'm invisible," I say throwing my hands up, still not getting so much as a glance.

"I am the first controller, element of earth." Krystal said quite proudly.

"Okay, that's cool n'all but why do I feel a connection with the both of you? Why?" I

practically growled out, why can't they just answer me straight?

"Well, you know how I just mentioned how the 'scientists' as you put it, probably left

because they couldn't control you?"

"Yes," I say, silently telling her to continue.

"Well, that was because, because." She let out a sigh, "that was because you are the only

person currently alive on this earth that can or has the ability to control all six elements. Once the scientist found this out, they would have left because they knew that you were dangerous, you have that you have power inside you that you could snap you fingers and they would be dead, more power than all Mutant's, and more than even all the elementals combined. That is also why you could feel my presence in your mind when you shouldn't have, and why you could feel a connection with the two of us." She pointed to Snowdrop, stopping for a while. "Although, a small catch is that you must learn how to control the elements from the proper controllers, otherwise you won't have a complete grip on the element, but still be able to use it."

"Does that mean that I'll have to teach her how to use ice, and you earth?" Snowdrop

asked rocking on the balls on her feet, a smile on her face.

"You and I will have to teach her from scratch, however one will only have to help her

harness their element completely, isn't there Emerald?" She turned to me, giving a small, almost proud smile.

I stared at her for a while, unsure of what she meant, "are you meaning the fact that I can

control metal?" I tilted my head to the side slightly in curiosity, before straightening up in panic. That simple power that I have used to help myself could also be used to hurt others, possibly even kill them.

"You go get some rest, once your feeling better well start looking at where we need to go from here."

"Mrs Everglades, why would she have to rest? Wasn't she unconscious, and that's basically being asleep," a small boy by the name of Nicky said from the back.

"Well Nicky when she said rest she was actually meaning to calm down, and think about what she had just been told, not necessarily sleep."

"But Mrs Everglades, why would she need to think about what she was told, it wasn't hard."

"Well, it might not be hard to understand, but it is a bit hard to believe now isn't it."

"Oh, that's true. Sorry for interrupting Mrs Everglades."

"It okay, would you like me to continue the story now?"

A chorus of 'yes Miss' filled the room. In fact, it came from everyone except for the girl with the dark hair and gloves. Scarlet once again was simply looking at the floor.
