Chapter 55

Kendrick's POV.

Our plan for Felicity was a difficult one for me. We decided, as she only remembered after a certain period of time, that we would bring familiar faces that she would find welcoming. At first I was completely against it when Warren told me who he was suggesting we bring in but after some decision making I had to let go of my jealousy and think of what may best suit Felicity.

Our plan was to send Warren's Beta Dan in, my issue wasn't really with the man himself but more with his state of singleness. I'm still struggling with the doctor being so close to her, and he's mated and married. Now I need to allow a completely unfamiliar wolf in to see my mate? Absolutely not! Finally after some hard 'encouuragement' from the others and reassurances on Daniel's part I gave in.

We sent him up to my room about twenty minutes ago, it was going well for quite a long time. I could hear my mate's laughter and the peace and comfort in her tone with Dan, but suddenly something switched. I listened closely as the conversation switched from the care of my mate to Dan talking about him seeing the warning signs of her abuse.

When he mentioned how he didn't understand how Warren didn't notice the scars or any unusual behaviour I looked over at him to see a state of shock on his face as things began to fall into place; it looks like he's now seeing the signs for the affects of the abuse on my mate that Dan noticed before. I can see from the pain in his eyes it hurts him that he didn't notice quick enough. Lana took hold of his arm and rubbed his back in comfort. I can hear her whisper comments of reassurance, letting him know what's happened is not his fault and Felicity wouldn't hold it against him.

In that she is right, my mate wouldn't blame him for it. All that time she intentionally keeping it from everyone for this long and only showed an image of herself as a protective barrier against others so they wouldn't suspect anything. She's also very forgiving and I know would not hold him being oblivious against him. I turned my attention away from them and went back to listening to the conversation upstairs but suddenly there was a vicious scream in the air that had me running up the stairs to the bedroom I gave up for my beautiful mate. I could hear the others running behind me and a few others that seemed to hear the scream from outside.

I ran in the room to find my sweet mate turned into a vicious animal and is attacking the very person who previously brought her comfort. She had knocked herself into Dan and was on top of him trying to gouge out his eyes with her extended claws, her wolf's teeth had appeared and she made every effort of using them trying to bite at Dan's neck.

She was only at the beginning of her shift but as she sensed everyone that came into the room she turned her eyes to us. In a show of threat she bite into Dan's hand and began to tear into the skin making small work of the flesh on his hand, drawing out horrific screams from her victim. Her eyes turned back to us and what I saw scared me, her pupils had fully expanded in size that they covered her iris, and I don't mean in the sense that her wolf was coming threw but there was a vacant look in them, as if both the human and wolf were gone and what was left was a beast that was set on killing anything in its wake.

She let go of Dan's hand and begin a slow but sleek saunter toward us, her actions were only a ploy as she charged quickly and made this sort of battle cry between a human scream and animalistic growl. Warren and I were standing side by side upon entrance of the room so we each grabbed an arm each before any damage could be done. She began to kick at us and I felt a deep scratch cut into my leg just as we placed her on the surface of the bed. I didn't look down to check what happened to my leg just incase it took my concentration away from her, holding onto her was so detrimental I have no idea what would happen if we let go.

One slip and it could mean serious harm, if the look in her eyes and the constant trashing of her body says anything about it. Before a word was even said two men came forward to grab her legs and help Warren and I restrain her; they must have been the ones that ran in from outside when they heard her screaming.

From just behind me I hear one of them speak, "holy crap! Her toenails have turned into claws, I never knew that was possible unless you were in complete shift. The toenails are usually the last to change." He's right, they are. It must be the state of mind she's in that is allow her body to use any sort of tool against anything or anyone in her way. I'm sure the furnature around the room will not be left unscathed. I suppose it was her toenails that cut my leg.

"I hate you! I hate you all! I will kill you if it's the last thing I do!" She screams at the top of her lungs, the sound guttural and deep showing that this feral mix of her and her wolf is still very present and very dangerous. I stab hits my heart as she looks into my eyes, "We will kill you with our bare hands, we will tear out your heart with our teeth. We will rip out your throat as if you were a weak, defenseless animal. We will kill you all and no one will ever hurt us again!" I know she doesn't mean this in anyway towards us exactly but it doesn't pain me any less. To see how far her mind has gone and how broken she is mentally.

"That's it! Lana leave Dan there for a moment, his hand should already be healing. Her thrashing is becoming too much and I can feel my fingers slipping. I need you to run to the doctor and ask him to bring you a sedative for her, she has gone insane and I don't think we can reason with her. If we don't we'll all be in danger." I see Lana get up and rush out the door before Warren even says the last word. He's right though, even with both of us being Alphas', when a wolf gets to this stage of insanity it doesn't matter how strong your wolf is, it's even more dangerous. Add to the mix that Felicity's wolf has already accepted her future role as Luna to my pack and with that acceptance comes extra strength. Further more, when a wolf that has lost its mind attacks it is out of pure madness that they fight with and although an Alpha or two may not die, there will be serious injuries. This is not the first time a wolf has gone insane and lessons have been learned. One thing is for sure, I never thought it would be this bad.

After another ten minutes there are footsteps coming up the stairs, I hear Lana yelling for people to get out of the way and leave, being distracted with my mate I hadn't even picked up on the smells and noise of curious pack members that had come to find out what's going on but I can smell them now. My wolf has the desire to run out there and teach them all a lesson on respect as that is my future Luna they're disrespecting with their curiosity and invasion of her privacy. Finally Lana and the doctor step through the door, the doctor with his needle in hand. His eyes bulge out at the sight before him in shock. "Poor Felicity, how she has survived this long without breaking I have no idea," I can see the sadness and pity written on his face and it makes me think about what she has gone through on her own all these years. How can a father be so cruel, be so lousy of a parent.

I watch as the doctor steps forward, it looks like he had his needle already prepared before he even got here so all he had to do was: make sure it was ready, step forward and inject the sedative into her arm. Almost immediately her body gave up its struggle and relaxed against the bed, her growls became whimpers and soon enough she was asleep. We all slowly released our hold on her and took deep breathes to calm our overworked bodies and racing hearts. I wipe the sweat from my face as I turn to look at Warren who has the same expression as mine. As soon as I look at Warren I remember what brought us up here in the first place and my eyes trail to Dan.

Before I even realized what I was doing I had him up against the wall, "what did you do to her?! Why did she lose it? If you hurt her so help me-" I never got to finish as he interrupted me and spoke as clearly as he could with my fingers slightly crushing his windpipe. "How can you say that, I have come to respect Felicity and care for her over time, I would never hurt her! All I did was put a comforting hand on her leg and she flipped! In the past it never affected her so I didn't realize it would now." I release his neck, how can I blame him when I had already realized she wasn't comfortable being touched and I didn't tell him. This is partly my fault. "Sorry man, I noticed she was feeling like that after she woke up and she wouldn't let anyone near her or even get a hand close enough to check her. I didn't warn you and I'm sorry for that."

Dan waves it off, "don't worry about it. I'm not so concerned for myself, but I'm really worried for Felicity. This is not normal behaviour, I'm worried her recovery won't be as easy as we thought it would be. I need to be very careful with who comes and sees her and how we are around her." I nod my head at him, "I was thinking the same thing; we will need to take things slow with her and allow her to set the boundaries she's comfortable with, while we also make sure this doesn't get out of hand and she doesn't let allow anyone near her either. She needs to slowly get used to that again. We need to first make sure she's safe and is given the support she needs, this won't be forever but only temporary." As I finished that Warren steps closer and pats my shoulder in comfort, "don't worry. We're all here for her."

I'm glad we will be able to rely on each other and are going to do our best to help her. Although I know this I still can't help but think 'I knew this was a bad idea.'

I want to know your thoughts on this chapter, what did you think? Was it realistic enough, in your opinion? Honestly it's very sad because sometimes when people have gone through something  horrible they can end up reacting this way. It's sad but all we can do is make sure they get the treatment they need and give them the love and support they need. I hope you enjoyed it! And hey! It's an extra long chapter!
