Felicity's POV.

Although I'm completely nervous I keep my chin up and look strong. Kendrick releases my hand and puts his arm around me pulling me against him while his pack looks at us in anticipation.

"Everyone, this...is Felicity. My mate and your future Luna."

It's as if his words are a starting shot and the whole pack rushes towards me, a couple older women grab my arms pulling me towards them and into the crowd. Everyone wanting to say hello and talk to me. I was feeling a little overwhelmed by all the attention and when I looked around for Kendrick I couldn't find him.

It wasn't until I was sitting at a table amongst the women that I felt eyes on me and when I looked up I saw Kendrick across the field standing around smiling with some of the men in his pack. He was looking right at me with the happiest emotion I've ever seen reflecting in his eyes.

I couldn't help but blush and look down at my hands under his intense stare. "You know, I never thought I'd see the day when Kendrick was so caught up in a beautiful woman that all the others' fade to the background in his sight." I look up and my eyes connect with one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Her hair a brown-red with the darkest pair of green eyed I have ever seen, her figure standing tall and elegantly before me.

With a smile she outstretches her hand to me and without thinking I shake it. "Hi, I'm Daphne, Kendrick's oldest and best friend. I've heard so much about you and I couldn't help myself but come to meet the woman who stole my best friend's heart. I can see why he's fallen for you, you're absolutely enchanting."

I didn't really know what to say or do but nod in thanks. She quickly pulls up a chair and slams it down in front of me. "Now, although Kendrick has told me all about you there are some things he hasn't told me about you, like how you two met! Tell me everything!"

She grabs both my hands and pulls me towards her leaning in to whisper in my ear, "and if you want I can tell you all about Kendrick and his awkward stages, embarrassing stories, loser attempts at being funny. I know them all." You know, I think I'm really starting to like this girl. Hearing all the dirt on my mate, what could be better?

"I am definitely interested." As I speak we both turn to look at Kendrick who is staring at us. I smirk back at him and place my hand on Daphne's drawing her attention back to me. "As it happens Daphne, I would love to hear all about my mate and his past." I look at Kendrick with a playful smirk and as we look at each other and then to him again, I see him gulp in nervousness.

"Well, let me begin then," she leans forward and just as she opens her lips he walks up to us quickly. "Oops, seems like I shall have to save it for another day. It seems your mate has come to steal you away. Come find me later and our storytelling shall begin."

'Daphne, you better not be telling tales about me that are completely untrue." He pulls my hand away from hers and into his arms. "I'm going to steal my mate away for a dance, thank you."

"Hah! Sure Kendrick. Stop trying to deny the fact that you are nervous about your mate hearing all your dirty secrets," Daphne sends an evil smirks in his direction and a wink for me.

Kendrick just rolls his eyes at her and pulls me to the dance floor after him. Kendrick spins me into his arms and we began to dance to the slow song the DJ is playing. I lean into his embrace and just enjoy the feeling of his hand in mine and his arm wrapped around my waist.

As we continue to dance I get a glimpse over his shoulder of a group of women, one of them has her eyes set on me with a challenge, a sharpe edge to her gaze. I raise one eyebrow at her, curious as to why she's staring at me and won't look away. I'll give her one thing, she's absolutely beautiful, her long dark brown hair is pulled partly up with the rest of it dangling down in rich waves. From where I am I can see her lips move in conversation but with the music playing so loud I can't hear what she's saying. Soon enough the six women sitting around her at the table look over and give me similar looks. I have an idea as to why she's looking at me this way and I find my suspicions correct as the hand I kept in the middle on Kendricks back moves to just above his butt.

Her eyes trail my hand, the fury in her eyes telling me exactly what her problem is. When her eyes make contact with mine again I raise an eyebrow at her in question. I don't look at her for long as Kendrick speaks to me. Tearing my eyes from this woman I press my face against his neck in affection, thoughts of the brunette forgotten but filed away for further thought.

"Are you enjoying yourself, love? You're not too overwhelmed by all of this are you?" He pulls back and I can see uneasiness in his eyes while the party continues on around us, oblivious to our conversation that holds more meaning to it than they could ever know. Warren had told me privately before I left that Kendrick was worried I'd change my mind about staying here with him. Silly man, where else would I want to be? There is nowhere else I should be than by his side.

"Are you worried I may change my mind and go back to Warren's pack?" I pull back further to get a better look at him and see the fear in his features. "You don't need to worry about any of that you know," I raise my hand and press it against his rough cheek, dark stubble already making an appearance. "There is nowhere in this world I would rather be than right here with you. Even if life here isn't perfect, nothing is ever truly perfect no matter how it looks on the outside, I know that better than most, you know," my lips slightly ease into a sad smile. His eyes fill with pity but coming from him it doesn't bother me. I know he doesn't feel sorry for me but that he hurts when thinking of the pain I've gone through.

"I wish you never went through any of that, the whole situation with me didn't help any too. I'm so sorry for how I treated you, I should never have-" I press my finger against his lips to stop him, he shouldn't hold his mistake against himself.

"You need to stop doing that, blaming yourself. You didn't know, there is no way you could have. I became so good at hiding my own pain, telling myself that I was okay, acting like nothing was wrong that even I began to fall for my own lies. We can't look back at what happened after we met but only look to the present and our future. Who knows what surprises await us." I smile sweetly at him and lean up to kiss him briefly but he has different ideas.

He kisses me deeply, and quickly I'm lost in the feeling of being close to him. I forget everything around me, the people standing and dancing around us. My newly released hands reach up and wrap around his neck to pull him as close as possible, his hands wrap around my waist and one moves to rest against the edge of my butt to press me hard against him.

I gasp as I feel his member twitch against my belly, and he takes advantage and pushes his way into my mouth. Our tongues tangling and our passion growing. My fingers inch their way upwards and pull at his hair, loving its silkiness. I feel him twitch against my belly each time I tug his hair roughly. I consciously continue to pull at his hair just to feel a small part of the control that I have over his desire for me. My head begins to dizzy with the lack of air reaching my lungs and my need for him grows.

"Hey! Get a room you two! There are children running around here and you're making everyone uncomfortable! Although we're overjoyed seeing our Alpha so happy and finally getting something."

The minute my mind processes Daphne's words, I remember where I am and I push Kendrick away from me so fast that he actually has to catch himself but ends up falling anyways as he knocks into someone and takes them both down.

The minute Kendrick hits the ground everyone bursts into laughter and I cover my face in embarrassment, I feel a feminine arm wrap around my shoulders and give me a little shake. I uncover my face to see Daphne next to me smiling brightly, I smile as I realize her arm around me doesn't even bother me and even though she doesn't understand it I can tell she is happy to see me smile back. I know Kendrick didn't tell her about my past but the comfort between us is nice, like we could one day be friends just as she and Kendrick are. He told me before while I was recovering that no one in his pack will know about my past unless I want them to know. In my heart I know that I can be honest with Daphne and she will not judge me, I just have this feeling. Maybe one day soon I will tell her the truth.

Daphne chuckles at Kendrick and laughs again, "your reaction was even better than I imagined! This is great!" Everyone laughs again at her words and I shake my head and push her arm off me as I walk over to help Kendrick up at the same time the woman who was dancing with the other man leans forward to help him too. She gives me a wink and a bright smile as I look over at her.

"Only you would have the nerve to embarrass your Alpha and Luna in front of the whole pack Daphne, you never grow up do you? The same annoying little sister attitude as always," Kendrick grumbles.

"That's me! And dont lie Kendrick, that why you love me and why we're best friends," she smiles brightly at him.

Mumbling under his breath Kendrick responds, "Its not as if I didn't try to run away from you but you wouldn't leave me alone. Following me around like a crazy stalker. Stupid woman," he nudges her as he grabs my hands and directs us past her. "The award goes to Daphne Tricone for being the most annoying woman in the world."

A chuckle leaves my lips and the whole pack cracks into laughter again which sends a blush only I can see to Kendricks cheeks, he didn't realize he spoke as loud as he did. I look at Daphne to see her roll her eyes but a smile still on her lips.

I think I'm going to like it here. They feel like one big family. Family. I've never had one before. My eyes begin to water at that thought.
