I finally get home from that horrific event. I walk to the living room where my family currently stays. My mom and Mary are sleeping on the couch while my dad and Nico are still watching TV, probably soccer. I start to think about what Riley said to me, about the consequence if I am with Mitch. I prefer to die rather than seeing my family murdered by my psychotic best friend but, at the same time, I want to live for my family's sake and I want my family to be a happy one.

     "Alice, are you okay?" A voice said, making me snap out from my thoughts.

     "What?"

     "I said, are you okay?" Mom asks, waking up from her nap with Mary.

     "Y-yeah, I am."

     "Are you sure? You were spacing out for a while and your face is pale." Mom asks.

     "Yeah, I'm fine. I just had a rough day, that's all."

     "What? It's close to noon and you have a rough day already." Nico says.

     "Anyways, let's eat some lunch." Dad says, going to the kitchen.

     "I'm skipping lunch today." I say.

     "What?! Why?" Mary asks.

     "It's been a rough morning for me and I need a nap right about now." I say, walking my way upstairs.

     "Just go down when you are hungry." Mom says.

     "Ok, mom."

     I climb the stairs and enter inside the room. Without changing my clothes, I toss my purse across the room and lie down on my bed. I start to stare at the ceiling while thinking about Riley and my family. Riley has changed without me knowing and it is very scary. I need to protect my family. Their lives are now at stake. While I am thinking about it, my eyelids start to get heavier and, eventually, I fall asleep.
