Chapter Eleven

It has been three days since Riley threaten me to kill either me or my family. That memory still hits me whenever we are working at Starbucks, seeing my family happy or just me thinking about it.

Currently, I am working in Starbucks. For the first time, I feel really uneasy while I am working. For one main reason why is because of Riley. She has been sending glares at me ever since we started working today. I am scared of the fact that she is really serious about it, my family's lives are at risk, people not caring on what is happening between me and my best friend or all of the above. Right now, my friendship with Riley is also at risk. Our friendship is burning down to the ground. But I still try to maintain my smile to the costumers even though the atmosphere is not as joyful as it can be.

Finally, it is the end of my shift and I feel relieved that it is finally over. I swear, it is the scariest and the most terrifying shift I ever have. I go to the rest room to change my working clothes to my red shirt and black jeans. As I leave the rest room, I see Riley with another devious smirk on her face. Chills are running on my spine once again. The atmosphere is silent yet deadly. By just communicating in our eyes, Riley is willing to kill for anything. I know she is spoiled and all but this is just too much. It is just too much to handle. If anyone would be in my position right now, they would feel the same.

After that deadly stare showdown, I am about to leave the rest room but Riley grab my wrist, making me look at her against my own will. She smirks again and whispers to my ear then sending more shivers in my spine.

"Remember what I said before, Alice." She whispers, letting me go.

I briskly leave the restroom then leave the store, without any goodbyes to the staff. I stand outside the building, waiting for someone to come. Few seconds later, a loud honk is heard in the streets. I look up and it is a black car parked in front of Starbucks. I approach the car and the window slowly roll down, revealing my dad's smiling face.

     "Hi, dad." I say.

     "Hi, sweetie. Get in."

I ask my dad earlier to pick me up after work because I want to reduce the risks seeing Mitch so I decide that avoiding him is the best thing to do. I walk around the car, open the door of the black car and get in to the passenger seat. I buckle my seat belt then my dad speeds off as we go home.

     "So, how's your day?"

     "It's fine." I plainly say.

While we are in the car, we listen to some old-school music; the ones that dad like while he was in his generation. We start to talk about random things, most especially about the things he do while he was a teenager, to past the time until we got home without us knowing.

     "We're home!" I cheerfully say.

     "Welcome home!" My siblings cheer.

"Hey, guys! How are you guys today?" I ask.

"We are doing great. Mary just lost another bet by me." Nico taunts Mary.

"No, I did not!" Mary yells at Nico.

"Yes, you did!" Nico yells back.

"Come on, guys! Come watch some TV now." I laugh then the siblings run off.

Watching my siblings' banter makes me smile. Thanks to them, I feel much better from the tension between me and Riley. With a smile on my face, I climb the stairs and walk my way to my room. I decide to listen some pop music while writing some poetry, just to relax from the sudden events happening to me lately. Doing my favorite hobbies makes me forget every stress or problems that I have.

While humming the tune of the music, my phone rings then stops. I stop whatever I was doing and walk over to my phone. I check to see who it was; it is an unknown number. Why would a person I don't know text me? I check the message and it freak me out.

"Alice, can you meet me by the tree where we usually meet?"
