Chapter 8

Mila blinked as the world gradually swam into focus. She saw....white. Sitting up, she realized she was in the hospital wing. Alexis, sitting on the bed next to her, said.

"Are you okay? He hit you pretty hard!" Mila frowned. "who-" suddenly two nurses hurried over. One of them rushed right over to her. 

"Are you ok? Did Loki hit you too hard? How do you feel? Sif wanted to talk to you, you-" The other nurse interupted.

"Selene, why dont we let these two rest? you can check them later." Grumbling, Selene left the beds. Alexis turned to her nurse. "Thanks, Ariel." The red- haired nurse smiled softly. "Just call me if you girls need anything." Mila closed her eyes and tried to tackle the immense headache.

"Here" Alexis tapped her shoulder. "Drink this." Mila opened her eyes and took the drink. It was brown like wood and tasted incredibly warm and like cinnamon. She felt the headache gradually fade. Putting down the cup, she finally asked Alexis.

"Okay, what happened? Why did Selene say Loki hit me?" Alexis started to explain. "well, we saw Isabel go into the prison and try to free Loki, only she unleased all the other prisoners because she's Loki's- I mean- Loki made her and then he knocked you out when you tried to stop her and-" She took a breath "-he knocked me out too and took Isabel away and we've got to find her!"

Mila nodded. It makes sense. "But where?" She pondered. She could be anywhere by now.

"I don't know. But we have go to try!" Alexis continued. Suddenly, Thor and Sif walked in.

"How are you girls doing?" He asked in his deep voice with concern in his eyes. He must have been worried sick! Mila thought.

"Good" they said in unison. There was an awkward silence for a moment then Sif spoke up.

"Do you girls know where she went?" Everyone was thinking the same thing. Alexis and Mila shook there heads. Thor looked at the ground in dismay. Where on Asgaurd could she be?

"Well, we have to find her. Loki is dangerous and who knows what he could do to her." Thor sighed.

"I'll send out another search party." Sif said looking over at Thor. He nodded and she rushed off out of the room. Before she exited she smiled at her daughter then closed the door behind her. Mila closed her eyes and tried to think. She knew Isabel the best. Where would they keep her?

"Well, come on girls, lets go back to your rooms." Thor said snapping Mila out of her thoughts.  She looked up to see Alexis hopping off of her bed. Mila repeated this and the girls stood in front of the muscular god. He turned and they followed behind him to their rooms.

Mila flipped the page of the musty book. She was in her room now, alone. Her room had a large bookshelf built into it, with books of everything. The room was dark and only a single torch lit the room. Currently, she was looking at a book of the layout of Asgard. she paced her room, book in hand.

"There has to be a place in here somewhere. A secret door... anything!" Mila mumbled. Her feet silently pattered the floor as she flipped through the pages, but it was no use. No where in the book did it say anything about a secret place. then, an idea popped into her head. "What if its not a secret place, but a normal place. A place just randomly in the castle?" Mila stopped in her tracks and flipped back to the rooms of the castle. They were in layers, so one by one she checked each layer in her book if there was a place that could possibly list where she was.

Suddenly, the door flew open. Mila looked up, flew to her sword and was in a readied battled stance by the time the door opened to reveal Alexis, hammer in hand. Mila sighed.

"Geez, don't scare me like that, I could have killed you!" She said setting her sword back in its special place. She looked up to Alexis's reply. The door had opened making light seep into the room.

"Sorry." Alexis said walking in the room. "I was wondering if you found anything yet." She said looking around. She noticed the book on the floor and raised an eyebrow.

"No, not really." Mila said walking over to the book. Picking it up, she saw the book landed on a page of an unknown layer of the castle. Alexis tilted her head to the side.

"What's that?"

"Not sure. Looks like a secret layer." She said. suddenly it all came to her. This could be the place! Alexis must have been thinking the same thing for her eyes got big at the book. 

"That's it! Thats the place! we should check these rooms." Alexis said pointing a finger at the page.

"Good idea, but its getting late. We should probably hit the sack." Mila said lookin out her large window. The sun was already set and the moon shone bright near the horizon. 

"Sure. See you in the morning." Alexis said walking twards the door. She clentched her hammer and closed the door silently, leaving Mila to herself. Setting the book down on her oak wood desk, she rushed to her dressing room and changed into her silk sleep wear. Mila's bed bounced as she crawled on to it and snuck under the covers.
