Chapter 2-The Arrival
The portal spit Moon and I out in our newest dimension. My twin went sailing through face first and landed on her stomach while I somehow landed on my back and proceeded to skid a few extra feet before finally stopping.
I looked up just as the swirling vortex of rudeness closed, glitching and popping as it did. That's definitely new, I thought to myself. I brushed it off as I sat up, wincing at a sudden pain in my wing and began taking in our new surroundings.
There was graffiti covering the walls. A dumpster was sitting in the corner surrounded by piles of garbage. Old newspapers and empty beer bottles littered the floor. Car horns and screeching tires could be heard close by, followed by the angry shouts of drivers and pedestrians alike. It smelled like someone decided to throw a corpse in the dumpster and, honestly, I wouldn't be too surprised if that was the case.
Realization hit me like a truck. We were in an alley.
The portal dumped our asses in a fucking alleyway!!!
I heard a groan to my left. I turned to see my sister clutching her head, slowly lifting herself into a sitting position. She mumbled a few colorful words under her breath.
"You okay, there?" I asked her.
"Well, other than the fact that I was just thrown to the ground by Portal McRudeness I'd say I'm doin just fine. You?"
"I'm good," I replied. "Just a few scratches here and there. And my wing might be dislocated."
"Oof. Here, let me pop it back into place," Moon offered.
I groaned. As much as I was not looking forward to the pain, it's not like I could reject her offer. I need this thing to fly, dammit. I lied down on my stomach and braced myself as my twin gripped my wing trough the fabric of my hoodie.
"On three," she said.
I only nodded in response.
"One-"
A loud pop rang out through the alley.
"SHIT!" I panted slightly as the pain in my wing joint receded. "What in the Pits happened to two and three!?" I snarled.
She shrugged. "It hurts less when you don't expect it."
I rolled onto my back and looked at the sky. Clouds littered the night sky, covering most of the stars, the light of the moon was barely visible.
I stood up slowly, my legs shaking slightly from the journey here and from the recent pain. Once I was steady on my feet, I helped Moon up. We started to make our way out of the cluttered alleyway.
We looked around the moment we exited the dark alley. Tall skyscrapers and crappy apartments surrounded us. Cars filled the streets ahead and a few people we're walking around, most likely heading home from a long day at work.
New York in another dimension.
Cool beans.
"So, Cole. Where do ya wanna stay while we're here? Rooftops or abandoned subway?" Moon asked.
I know what you're thinking. Why not just stay in a hotel or get an apartment? It's too risky. Someone could see our wings and I doubt they allow weapons. That, and we also just flat out don't want to waste out money on it. $200 a night? No thank you!
"I'd rather stay on the rooftops," I answered. "We could buy a tent and set it up on the roof. Home for us and it'd probably just look like a sick hideout to anyone else."
My sis nodded in agreement.
We walked to a store that was, luckily, still open and bought ourselves a large, three-room tent, some water and some snacks incase we got hungry in the middle of the night, which shouldn't be a problem since we ate before we left.
We then found a nearby apartment complex and pulled down the ladder leading to the roof. Once we reached our destination, we set up the tent and decided to go find a furniture store in the morning to get a mattress and try to find a place that would have a mini fridge, like IKEA or something. After all was said and done, we went to sleep.
When we woke up the next morning, we found a few nearby stores and bought a mattress, sheets and blankets, plenty of pillows and pillowcases, and even managed to snag ourselves a mini fridge for each of us. We had to fly up the mattress and mini fridges but, by some stroke of incredible luck, no one saw us.
After we got everything set up and plugged the mini fridges into some nearby outlets we found, we settled down in our home-away-from-home for a bit to relax.
Moon took out our "Dimension Journal", as we like to call it, and began writing.
I decided to break the silence. " So, what are you thinking this dimension is? Soulmate AU? Superhero dimension?" I paused for a moment, then, smirking, asked "You think this one has fictional characters in it? We could meet your hubby~"
She turned to me, then rolled her eyes when I started cackling.
"Wheeljack is not my 'hubby', Cole," my twin huffed, blowing a strand of hair out of her face in the process. "And you're one to talk, with that big crush you have on Ratchet."
I laughed at that, agreeing. "Yeah, ok. You got me there, BUT! In my defense, he is beauty, he is grace, and he's more than willing to throw a wrench at your face!"
She chuckled. "Can't argue with that."
"Damn right, you can't!"
With that we fell into silence once more.

Later on, I think it was around 8 at night and we were getting ready for bed, we heard what sounded like running. Not just one person, either. It sounded like three or four. At one point it sounded like whoever was running was right outside our little HQ.
Suddenly, just beyond our fabric door, a voice rang out.
"Woah! Dudes, check it out! Someone made a sick fort out here!"
That voice... I know that voice... Why does this mystery man sound so familiar?
I heard the others slow to a stop, and one of them shushed the one who spoke.
"Keep your voice down," mystery man 2 whispered harshly. "You could wake whoever is in there!"
He sounded familiar, too.
Another huahed voice spoke up.
"It's not a fort, Mikey. It's a three room tent. Someone probably brought it out here fore a night under the stars or as a sort of getaway."
Moon and I turned to each other, shock clearly plastered on our faces.
Did he say "Mikey"?
I suddenly realized exactly why their voices were so familiar and where I'd heard them before, and by the look on my sisters face, she had, too.
I made a hand motion to Moon, signaling her that we should stay quiet and listen a bit longer, just to be sure we weren't mistaking.
She nodded.
"We should make ourselves a hideout like this!" 'Mikey' said enthusiastically.
We heard what sounded like a 'THWACK' and Mikey yelping a small "ouch!"
"Hey!" He whined. "What was that for, Raph?"
My eyes widened as I looked to my blonde-haired double.
'Raph?' She mouthed.
I nodded. It's really them. That means...
"Keep it down, chuckle-nuts! They'll hear us," Raph whispered.
Moon gave me a look and I nodded in response, knowing exactly what she was thinking. We had to see them.
She slowly unzipped the door to the tent while the people outside argued, trying not to make any sound. Once it was opened, we stepped outside. The arguing stopped, and even though I knew what I would see, a part of me was still shocked beyond belief.
There, standing right in front of us, were four humanoid turtle mutants with different colored masks and varying weapons. Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello.
My words from earlier came to mind as I stood there, too shocked to speak.
Fictional characters exist here...
