Chapter Ten

The two dragons seemed afraid. Fae didn't blame them. That Luxray was one of the most powerful Pokémon she encountered. Well, he was the only really powerful opponent she encountered besides her own siblings, but this felt different. She learned from her mother about stats and abilities. The Luxray did say that his master was a scientists, so it's possible he could have such powers as well. That might be why that man is after them: for even more powerful Pokémon.

Fae shuddered. "Did you...did you see either?" She asked with suspicion in her voice; her unease could be noticed within it. "A Luxray or a Trainer around here?"

The Flygon and Dragonite duo turned to her. "Uhm, now that you mentioned it—yes we have seen a Trainer with a Luxray leading him. They seemed to be searching for something or someone. Is that a coincidence? Were you running away from this duo?" The Dragonite pried.

Was trusting this pair a good idea? Fae wasn't sure if she was up to the idea of sharing random information with Pokémon she barely even knew. They were kind, yes, but Fae wasn't sure if she was willing to share much about herself or about what was going on to them. This felt like it was going too fast.

Unfortunately, Eon didn't feel the same way. "Yes. They have been chasing me for years actually. Now, they're after my sister too." Eon remarked, wrapping his paw around Fae as if they hadn't missed a day as siblings. Fae looked at him as if he was crazy. She thought he was insane actually.

"You didn't need to tell them that!" She hissed at him, leaning over to whisper it to him. She didn't trust either of these Pokémon. She was sure they were nice, but she wasn't sure if this was a good idea. Asking for help from strangers could just lead them to death.

Eon chuckled, laying his tail on her shoulder. "Don't mind her. She hasn't been in the real world enough. Tell me, where did they go?" Eon inquires with an interested gaze.

Fae felt insulted by those words. She had every right to be suspicious of these Pokémon. They come into a cave they claim is 'theirs,' and then question them like they're the police or some sort of criminal team. Fae didn't say anything about it, however. She didn't want to start a fight.

Her mom has told her stories of these criminal teams such as Tudi and Pulse. She knew these two Pokémon were strong. Power can make Pokémon mad. It made that male human mad.

"They went past the cave. They went to the right of our den." Dragonite remarked, putting an emphasis on our to prove a point. Dragonite then flapped his wings and pointed outside the den in the forest. "Over there." His gaze seemed to want to ask more questions, however he said nothing as Eon and Fae checked outside.

So we should avoid going right, right? Where are we even going anyways? Fae wondered.

"Oh! Thanks! Say, if you have the time can I ask of a favor?" Eon wondered curiously. "A favor?" Flygon asked with wonder and slight excitement in her gaze. She kept her cool, however, as her Dragonite friend gazed at them in suspicion.

Fae felt like this Dragonite seemed familiar, but was unsure where she's experienced such suspicion. The Dragonite folded his arms as he stared at them with such seriousness and worry. "Depends. What kind of favor?" His wings flapped slightly, as if trying to intimidate them. It was as if he thought they were an enemy tricking him.

If anyone's going to attack it's going to be him, Fae tried to analyze. Fae could see how anxious he was. He was definitely prepared to fight.

"Well, we want to go that way—but we don't want to be seen. I was wondering if you could help us fly into the sky." Eon stated simply. This earned a gasp of shock from Fae.

Fly? Like flying in the sky? It was unheard of to Fae. Mauve seemed in shock too, however, she had a paw on her chin as if processing the idea; she seemed to like it. Fergus and Neri both were awake by this point, listening intently to Eon. They were considering the idea in their heads with smiles on their faces as the two 'friends' held each other's tails.

"Fly in the sky? Hmm, that doesn't seem bad." The Dragonite considered, however he still seemed afraid. "What do you think, 'Ku?" The Dragonite asked his 'friend.' The way the Dragonite reached out towards his partner in that instant and held her hand perplexed Fae. She rarely saw friends do that. It looked so private.

The Flygon—or perhaps better known as Ku in that instant—nodded her head. "I think we should do it, Nig. They don't seem bad. They seem troubled. We should help!" Ku commented with a friendly smile.

The shy Nig smiled back with gentleness. "You're right," he sighed, seemingly troubled. "I'm just...freaking out over everything that's happened to us is all." Dyku nodded with understanding; a grim expression on her face in memoriam.

Dyku reached out a paw and touched his face with gentleness. "That part of our lives is over, Love. We should focus on the now: that was then, this is now."

Nig nodded. "I know," he sighed. The way he said it implied he said it many times before. It also sounded fake to Fae. It was as if he knew it, but his heart wouldn't allow it.

Dyku looked back at the travelers. "Anyways, like I said: we will help you. My name is Dykuma, although I prefer Dyku as a shortened nickname. The Dragonite next to me is Nigel." Dyku paused a second before glaring at the travelers. "Only I'm allowed to call him Nig. He's my boyfriend, you hear?" She growled. It sounded like a threat, but Fae didn't believe it was one. However, it did spook her when the Flygon showed them her claws.

"Uhm, yeah. So we call him Nigel?" Mauve asked as she rolled her milky white-and-dark black blind eyes. "Yep! You do just that!" She chirped with a smile.

"So, we are hitching a ride on two random Dragons we barely even know?" Fergus wondered in confusion. "Yeah. I mean we did invade their home." Eon stated. "If you ever need anything come to us, okay? We will help you. Thank you so much for your generosity." Eon rumbled, dipping his head in thanks and respect.

The Flygon flicked her paw, embarrassed. "Ah, you don't need to do that for us. We are just happy to help you. That Luxray looked powerful. So glad we were in the sky."

Nigel glanced at the five related Pokémon. "How are we going to do this, 'Ku? Can we even carry five Pokémon?" Nigel fussed as he counted them. Dyku chuckled with pride. "Can we carry five? Nig, you can carry two at a time and I can carry at least three. Probably four." Dyku bragged as she pointed at herself with a claw.

Was she trying to impress her 'friend?'

Fae smiled. They seemed to get along somewhat well, while criticizing each other lightly at times. Fae knew their friendship would last a lifetime.

Nigel didn't seem amused. "I doubt you can carry four. Have you even carried three before?" Nigel sighed as he put a scaly paw to his face. "Don't overshoot. I can carry three if needed." Nigel assured her. Dyku—she was happily flapping about with a big smile on her face with her eyes closed—slowly frowned. "You have small, less sturdier wings! I can carry all five!" She announced, puffing out her chest to an unimaginable length.

Fae wasn't sure if she liked her. She seemed way too prideful and boastful. She wouldn't mention it, however. She would just deny how selfish she actually was.

Nigel groaned. "Whatever. Do you guys need out now, or uhm, later?" He was changing the subject. Dyku flapped her wings with valor; her paws were laid on her hips. "Yeah! Now or later?! We can do it now!" She bellowed in a mimic of her 'friend's' words.

"Is everyone ready to go now?" Eon wondered. "No, no we aren't. We have bags upon bags of—of course we're ready to go, you silly Umbreon. All we have is each other. And I'm sure we're all ready to go. Fae?" Neri remarked nodding her head towards Fae.

Fae felt nervous. She didn't want to ruin this for everyone.

I'm not sure if I'm ready for flight. I've never been in the sky—but if I don't, then surely that Luxray and his human would have nowhere else to look and then...I don't even want to think about it.

She nodded, gulping. She tried forcing her fears to go away. It didn't work, but she assured herself that if anything bad happened she at least wouldn't go down alone. After all, this was only one step towards a bigger future for herself. Plus, who knows how much she'll change.

Maybe, she thought with a smile as she boarded Dyku's back with Neri and Fergus, Maybe I'll be able to become something my family never expected. Maybe my mother's loss isn't so bad after all...?
——————-

Author's Note: Kinda ending on a bit of a darker sounding thought there. But I thought maybe adding such a thing was a good thing for Fae's character. Although she's still pretty flawed.

Not trying to make her flawless, just trying to make her flaws help her become better.

Anyways what are your thoughts on the chapter? Next chapter will probably take to new heights. XD. Let me know your thoughts and such on this chapter I want to know.

The next chapter might take longer, though, since I will probably be starting school/college the next day I want to update: Monday. I'll also be pretty busy with work, so I can't tell you exactly when to expect the next chapter. But I'll work on this soon enough. I want to write this and get it done and dusted as a cool youtuber once said...lol.

Thanks for reading! ❤️
