Chapter Thirteen
Fae had a dream that night. Had dreamed of a brave Eevee with a ghostly form. He claimed his name was Orion. He had a talk with her.
He told her that she had a bigger role in this than she thought, which made her confused. A bigger role in what? For now, however, the Eeveelutions and Eevee were preparing for the journey ahead. Eon told them it would still takes hours before they could reach the Starter Squad for help with Fae's training.
Eon seemed on edge about it. He must really want me to become stronger, Fae thought. Fiercely, she collected herself. I will become stronger for him. He's gone a long way to find me out there. I must help him. He's possibly one of the only family I feel connected to that hasn't left me.
Fae glared at her sister. She still had a slight grudge against her sister for leaving her alone and without a sister who was willing to help her. All her other siblings weren't really willing to stick close to her like Neri was. They was just no one who could compare to her strict, yet gentle manor.
Neri noticed her glare and gave her a questioning gaze backwards that showed no guilt. Wasn't like she would be guilty anyways.
The snow that had been on the ground where she had lived hadn't reached this area yet. Or at least the intensity of it wasn't so severe. She could walk on the light coverings of snow. The brisk, chilly air nipping at her paws she and her family quickly padded outside.
Fae wasn't looking forward to the walk. Bravely, she followed Eon outside, listening to the cries of Kricketot and Starly as they loudly made cries to wake up everyone in the forest.
Fae shivered slightly. She wasn't used to all the sounds. They were loud and made her heart jump whenever a new sound joined in. It wasn't like back at home. It was more quiet there.
The journey to the Starter Squad would take hours. I wonder if we will have time to stop and eat. Fae could feel her paws beginning to ache, and they haven't even started.
"Alright. Is everyone ready to make the journey?" Eon commented, brushing his furry pelt against Fae. Fae glanced at the ground. She couldn't do it. She knew that much. How could such a weak and pathetic Pokémon like her be born to such a strong 'Mon like Izar?
Fae puffed out her chest. She's as ready as she can at this point. The snow was cold, and her toes were already about to fall off; however she wouldn't give up on giving herself a "better life." She didn't even know what a better life would look like. The life with her mother and father was all she knew. Now she was "free" to make her own decisions, but what does making your own decisions even look like?
Is being free the ability to decide whether you want to have someone in your life? Do I even want Neri back into my life? Do I want Eon back either? Those were the questions here. These two have been out of her life for years—or at least Eon had. How could she accept either of them when they were so different from her?
Was a new perspective even a good idea? Her mother's teachings came back to her head. She recalled the countless bodies in wars and in that adoptive center; Or imagine them at least.
So many countless lives have been wasted all because of one scientist. She had a life. They didn't. They never even had a chance to know Neri or Eon. I do. Maybe I should let them in my life. I can't keep doing this.
"Fae! Are you coming?" Neri asked blinking at her with confusion. "Is something the matter?"
Fae felt the world on her shoulders. She had to do this. That Eevee wouldn't have shown up in her dreams and told her she had a big role for nothing. She gulped as she met eyes with her bold sister. A simple nod.
"Yeah, I'm ready."
"Great! Let's go!"
The journey wasn't really notable. Besides her constant aching paws and want to stop there wasn't anything in their way; however, Fae still glanced to and fro from time to time. She wouldn't allow this mysterious forest creature to catch her off guard.
Eventually, they broke through the forest to find a whole big town. A sign stood nearby. It was clearly a dark brown wood with white markings on them.
'Poketown,' the shiny Eevee read as she and her family approached the bustling town. Fae gaped in amazement. She had never seen so many houses all in one area. It was brilliant!
Fae gasped, her tail wagging. "Wow!" She breathed out, breathlessly. It was so magnificent. Fae didn't know how to properly describe it. In the middle of the town lay two huge buildings no one could avoid if they tried: The Pokepolice, and the Starter Squad HQ.
"I didn't know all this was out here!" She exclaimed with shining eyes. It was so cool! Her brother chuckled with a smile.
"Of course it is, sis. You just didn't 'venture out long enough to figure it out. You see, having adventures is fun!" He cheered, grinning. He threw his paws in the air. He obviously didn't care how he was viewed here.
Fae smiled. He was right. This wasn't even the first adventure, and yet going here was something she enjoyed. It felt like doing new things could be good. "I suppose so, but I don't know." Fae remarked with uncertainty. What was it like to even be on an adventure?
Eon wrapped his paws around her. "You will soon enough, don't worry. If anyone knows how to party it's the Squad!" He assured her.
"..."
Eon started jogging. "Ugh not this again, brother. The building won't move on its own." Neri snorted with laughter as the other four four-legged Pokémon followed in a run. Thankfully, Fae was able to keep up as she frantically followed her fast siblings and friends.
She found her way to one of the bigger buildings. It looked slightly more modern then the other building, but it still looked older than Fae was expecting. Huh, was thinking they have been established for a long time. I mean, obviously they've been here forever, but not as long as one would think. How long has the police station been here? Ever since fighting crime was thought of?
Eon didn't waste any time to open the door. It was the middle of the day now; the sun fully out for everyone on show. He opened the door, and Fae could see a couple of Pokémon handing out jobs while others chatted with their friends.
This is a lovely place. Fae thought with a smile as the Starters all around them gazed their way. Some glances more welcome than others.
Finally one voice drowned the others, "What the fuck is that weirdo doing here?!"
Fae could see a small green Treecko approach them with a disdainful expression. His arms were folded. However, Eon didn't seem displeased by the Treecko approaching. He seemed rather happy and excited to see him. "I'm here to say hi, of course!" He then glanced away. "And help my sister train, but I suck at this sort of thing."
The Treecko studied Fae with glance. Fae tried to act natural, but her tongue stuck out as she tried to present herself. Her chest puffed out. The Treecko grunted, not satisfied. "She looks about as stupid as you do!" He exclaimed without holding his tongue.
Fae's ears perked, and her head jerked up. Hey! That's mean! She thought before the Treecko snorted. "Ah, I'll see how I can help, follow me." Now that's not nearly as rude! She thought as her tail quickly lashed back and forth. She bounced and they followed the younger Treecko. Or at least to Fae. He was probably older than her brother.
...
"I've got it!" Declared Rau with pride, holding two pieces of paper out for the whole world to see. Or that's what Skliros thought. He could hear her singing it practically for the whole world to hear.
"She is definitely going to get us caught." Skliros could hear Kiumbe grumble as the overconfident black ninja not-so-stealthily-or-silently showed them the blueprints in her webbed foot. Skliros silently agreed.
He was appreciative of such help, however seeing her wave the plans around in the air like a prize seemed a bit much to him. Getting these plans is huge; however our plans must be kept secret. We can't let anyone know about this. Many Pokémon would want to stop us or steal these plans for themselves.
The Darkrai then pondered his plans for these blueprints. Kiumbe had told him that those were the only copy of the blueprints, so he would have to make sure they didn't lose them. They would have to make sure someone could take care of the eggs before they hatched.
His eyes traveled to Jabetu. She will do. Rau is not a good candidate.
