Chapter Thirty-Four
The battle started, and Zen was the one to make the first move. He used Behemoth Bash on Corvus who was sent across the battlefield. His pink eyes never wavered.
Corvus had taken a decent amount of damage, however he was still standing. He growled in frustration. He obviously wanted to aid his controller.
Fae used Quick Attack on Skliros, figuring since he was the one in control of them all she would target him first. He seemed dangerous enough to her. He was blind, however her Quick Attack was predicted as Skliros smiled when she hit him. He didn't dodge the attack, letting her hit him with the force she got
"Quick Attack, huh? You know, you're way more powerful than your brother." Skliros began. Fae didn't halt her attacks. She shouldn't be listening to such a malicious and manipulative Pokémon.
She let him continue his talk, figuring it was useless to say anything back.
"Being able to use your abilities at will? That's an amazing power. You could use it for so many things rather just helping Pokémon."
That was true, but Fae didn't even care if she had a special power. It was just an excuse to convince her to become something she's not.
"..."
"I know you're thinking about it. I can feel you thinking about it. What trust can you possess with a Pokémon like Eon anyways? He's full of secrets. He isn't telling you everything, Fae."
"Mhm." She responded without paying attention to what he's promised her.
"I could tell you his secrets."
Fae huffed. "You think I'll betray my brother like that? He's been kind enough to help me this far. Unless this secret is something special, then I cannot go against my family." She remarked.
"How noble. However, has your brother ever told you about his visions?" The Darkrai questions with a smirk on his face.
Visions? Fae stared questioningly at her brother. Eon shrugged. He never did tell her.
"No, but that doesn't matter. If he has some special power that's alright. That's an ability right? He has an extra move, I know that." She remarked.
The Darkrai chuckled.
Fae knew he was trying to trick her. No matter if this was the truth, she told herself to always stay by her brother's side. Unless he was the evil one all along. Fae couldn't imagine that being possible. After all, he was the one who wanted her trained up so she could defend herself.
All he wanted to do was protect her. So she must do the same. Even if he had some secrets, Fae knew he meant well.
"It's more than just an extra move, Fae. He has unfathomable powers that you don't know about. Don't you think you should know about them?" Skliros asked her.
Unfathomable power? Is it even more overpowered than the ability switch I possess? Because that's handy.
Fae didn't know if she deserved to know the truth right now. She and her brother still needed more bonding before they got to that level.
"Right now? No I don't think I need to know about that power. It sounds cool, but Eon has a good reason to keep such a cool ability a secret." Fae remarked. She smiled warmly at her brother. She wouldn't let herself be swayed so easily.
Eon grinned back at her with a paw doing a thumbs up. Fae was glad she had Eon. He was here to help her pick up the missing pieces of her life. She loved Eon so much. As one of the only members of her family left alive, Eon has done so much to help her. He did help her break out of a not-so-friendly home, and offered to help carry her at points in their journey.
Skliros growled when his plan didn't work. What was with all this growling? Was it a villain thing?
The blind Darkrai pointed a raggedy finger at Fae. "You're going to regret staying with that weirdo fox. He's not as nice as he seems."
Eon's facial features expressed total boredom and dissatisfaction with the fight. "Are you done letting your anger get a hold of you? Your 'puppet' is getting restless." Eon yipped as his scarf went into his mouth by accident.
Eon yelped, and moved his head a lot. He was trying to get the strange scarf out of his mouth. The reddish scarf went well with his black fur and yellow rings.
Corvus had been awaiting orders, his now pinkish eyes blinking at Viola with both patience and slight annoyance. His paws cuffed the ground, making indentation within the soft earth. The sun hid behind the clouds as Fae and the rest of the fighters started their skirmish back up again.
"Viola, you know what to do." Skliros comments curtly. The younger Gothita nodded with sparkling eyes. Fae wondered if the psychic type truly enjoyed this job.
Viola's eyes glowed pink, and Fae could just imagine the invisible controlling waves making their way towards Corvus and Luxray, giving them their orders.
Luxray's pink eyes found their way to Fae, and the Luxray's star-tipped tail lashed fiercely. A change of attack was what Fae was expecting.
The Luxray's tail glowed first before his paws glowed as well. Yellow stars glowed and formed around the older Luxray's paws. Luxray's paws started to glow slowly as well.
The Swift attack formed even more, and the stars started to pull at the air around Fae. Fae's paws gripped the earth harder. What was happening? Was this the Luxray's true power? She had never seen this before.
The scientist must have boosted his attack or something. It was weird because the attack seemed to be sucking up things. It was sucking up everything from the beautiful orange-and-yellow flowers to the dead shiny Braixen who's body happened to be unfortunately one of the many piled up nearby.
The stars that were gather were more and more. Was this even a swift attack? Was there any Star attack that could do more damage than Swift? Fae held on for dear life, gritting her teeth painfully as she watched one of the many stars penetrated into the body of a lifeless Delphox.
The Delphox had been weightless, and almost turned to dust as soon as he hit the bright star, exploding into a few pieces after falling from the star.
Fae's eyes widened in horror. Just how badly mangled were these innocent Pokémon?
Cries of shock rang out as a nearby Fennekin poked his head out of the tent—which had somehow remained intact—and immediately got sucked near the stars.
The Luxray let out an incoherent roar, and the strange Swift attack immediately targeted Fae. Skliros was nearby, smirking.
Fae barely dodged the booster attack.
"Oh, wow. I didn't realize just how much of an asset that Luxray could have been. Too bad we had use mind control to get our way. He would make a really good villain." The Darkrai remarked.
Fae sweat dropped. A little over the top. Also, I thought Luxray was already a villain. At least a villain from my perspective...maybe just barely a villain.
"Wow!" A voice breathed out as Kiumbe floated by using Psychic. "Who knew the power of science could genetically mutate the DNA of a Luxray like that. Astounding."
The Mewtwo held a notebook, jotting down what he was seeing.
Fergus used a Psychic attack himself, sending Corvus rattling against a tree. The Eevee held his head as his eye rolled around in his head. For a brief moment his eyes stopped glowing pink and returned to a natural brown-black color before the pink slowly slid back in.
Huh. Fae pondered with a curious smile.
"Did you guys see that? Fergus' attack had almost wiped out the hypnosis on Corvus!" Eon remarked with a small smile, his eyes widening as he saw the little Eevee come bounding back with a determined look.
Neri slapped the back of her boyfriend. Fergus almost lost his balance, which was an easier thing to do in a wheelchair such as his. "Good job, Fergus! Now we know what to do." She practically announced.
I don't think being loud and obnoxious is a good idea. Skliros is right nearby. Are we that dumb?
Fergus beamed. "Alright!" He exclaimed with a wide smile. He ran at Corvus and used Quick Attack. Corvus only yelped, skidding back slightly.
Viola moved both her forepaws and Luxray attempted another charged up Swift. It took forever to charge up, however. Fae managed to jump over the attack once more.
"Ugh! You stupid dolls, hit them!" Skliros shouted. He calmed down a second afterward and composed himself.
He cracked his knuckles before signing. "Incompetent. Viola, do you think you could aid them?" Skliros asked before using Dark Pulse on Mauve who was attempting to help a different Fennekin hold on during the Swift attack.
The Fennekin let go, and plunged towards the stars, falling limp on impact; she had been screaming.
It's now, or never. We must defeat Corvus and Luxray in order to kick them out of this controlled state!
Fae ran at Viola still glowing.
