Chapter Three

Fae was curious.

She was curious about the Umbreon next to her sister. She was curious about what her sister had to tell her; was it about this other Umbreon?

"What do you have to tell me, Neri? Is that the only reason why you're here? You didn't even come to see me?" Fae wondered as her eyes started filling up with tears.

Her mother ran over to her.

"Think positive thoughts, sweetie."

Fae nodded, though she spied some slight upset in Neri's eyes.

The four Pokémon quickly walked inside, and Izar closed the door swiftly.

"Come, come! There's cake, my darling! I'm so glad you decided to come! Fae is happy you showed up! Your friends and boyfriend are welcome as well!" Izar barked, using a paw to usher Neri to the table.

Neri glanced back at Fae, speaking swiftly as their mom pushed her over to a seat.

"Wait a minute, I need to speak to Fae about something."

"Whatever you need to say to Fae can be said in front of your parents, us, and your brothers and sisters. Now, Neri, explain to us why you're really here? You obviously aren't here just for the party. You need something, huh? You just don't care enough about us, huh? Your own family." Izar snarled.

Fae stepped closer to her sister who was gazing at the Umbreon beside her.

"Can we please stop talking about this? I would have thought you would have matured by now. I may be your daughter, but I also deserve to be happy. That's why I left. Besides the obvious fact that you keep us sheltered from the dangers of the world. Which there isn't as many dangers in this world as you may believe. Yes, dangers exists, but I expected you to trust I was strong enough to handle them. I'm not a child anymore, mom. And neither is Fae." Neri replied.

Was she implying something?

Izar barked her fangs at Neri upon hearing those words.

"Fae can stay here as long as she wants. She shouldn't be exposed to the outside world!" Izar snarled as she glared at her own daughter.

Fergus and Mauve glanced at each other. Or as much as they could because Mauve was blind.

"Shouldn't be exposed?! You keep her and everyone else here captive! You won't let your own thirty year old daughter out the house because of an event that happened in the past. I'm sure she can handle herself just as much as I can." Neri snarled, shoving her face closer to Izar's.

Fae felt her ears fold in fear.

Were they going to fight?

Fae prayed they wouldn't. She had no idea why they would fight over her. She wasn't worth it.

Her freedom wasn't worth it.

The Umbreon right next to Neri stepped in between the two fighting Eeveelutions, calmly gazing at them despite the circumstances.

"I'm sorry to break up this lovely conversation, but I think Neri has something important to tell Fae, was it?"

The way the Umbreon talked sounded professional, yet there was a silly expression on his face.

Fae nodded, thankful at least someone was willing to shut down this argument.

The two Pokémon stiffened up.

Neri relaxed while Izar's lip curled.

"You don't tell me what to do. You're still pretty young yourself."

The Umbreon dipped his head.

Fae noticed it wasn't just the colors of the Umbreon that made him different from Neri. He was sporting a red, torn up scarf and was wearing black shades.

So that's why he looked silly. He's just wearing some strange humanish attire.

Well, the glasses were human made. She never seen anything quite like them.

I might have to ask where he got those. They look pretty cool.

The Umbreon wasn't phased. His face was still calmer than everyone else's.

Most of the Eevee and evolutionary Eeveelutions were staring in fright and shock at their mother's actions. Some haven't seen the way she acted.

Mauve and Fergus, meanwhile, were angry at Izar.

Ezekiel, meanwhile, just looked more riled up and nervous, trying to distract himself with a newspaper, constantly trying to straighten the paper. It was already straight enough.

Fae herself was feeling embarrassed at her mother's actions towards her sister.

She also felt a bit disgusted they couldn't put this aside for one day.

"I may be young, but I also know when to chose my battles. I don't understand why you would be this aggressive to your own daughter, but I think you shouldn't force your kids to stay inside. It's not good for them to be shielded from the outside world." The Umbreon yipped.

"Yes it is!" Izar snapped at him, immediately taking him to the ground with a Quick Attack.

A low growl rumbled in her throat.

Her teeth were bared.

The Umbreon didn't flinch however.

"Who are you?" Izar growled slowly, pressing a paw into his throat.

"Who are you to tell me how to live my life?"

"Y'know, it's not my job to tell you how to live, but you also shouldn't live your life like you're about to get Murdered every step of the way." The Umbreon remarked.

"Most of my children died! I have every right to seclude the remaining!" Izar roared.

That didn't sound correct to Fae.

Was she being secluded from the world because her siblings died?

Is this why I'm not let outside? That sounds kind of odd. I can understand the motive, but it's odd to keep every single child of yours safe, isn't it?

"No, you don't have a right to seclude them if it's their life. They can live it any way they want to."

"They want to stay inside."

"Maybe ask them instead of not giving them a voice."

"Who are you?" The Jolteon repeated with anger in her black eyes.

"Me? Oh right, that."

The umbreon stepped away.

"He's...he's your brother. That's what he told me. He told me he has siblings and that one of them was a shiny female Eevee." Neri informed them with a smile.

"Lies! Fae doesn't have an Umbreon brother that looks like you. You don't even look like me." Izar growled at him.

The Umbreon stepped forward, his scarf flopping at his side.

His amber eyes bore into the Jolteon's.

"Tell me, does Neri and I look alike. If she's convinced that I'm her brother and Fae's, then doesn't that mean something?" The Umbreon questions her.

Once again, the Jolteon barks, "No you don't! Neri is smaller. Plus, all Umbreon look alike."

She huffed.

"Honestly, Neri I don't know why you did this. Bringing another Umbreon? Telling me he's your brother? What sort of game are you pulling at?"

Neri shook her head.

"Look at us. We have a very similar head shape. I've looked at other Umbreon before, mom. Not all of them have similar head shapes. Some of them are actually way more rounded than ours. I don't know how to make you believe me, but he's here for Fae. He's here to stay and visit her."

Fae glanced at the Umbreon through curious eyes.

Neri and the Umbreon had very similar head shape.

Plus, this Umbreon never really tried to fight Izar while she pinned him. That's got to mean at least something.

Maybe he has at least a little respect for his elders?

He seemed to be around the age of 22.

"What is your name?" Fae asked.

The Umbreon turned his head towards her surprised, but smiled upon hearing the question.

"My name is Eon." He answered with a closed-eyes smile.

Eon? Pft, who names a Umbreon Eon? She wonders to herself as she giggled slightly.

"That's an odd name." She remarked.

She got a strange sense of dejavu.

Wait a minute, she thought, trying to rack her brain.

It was difficult to remember what happened in the past since she wanted to leave it all behind. Especially the human and Luxio pair. She didn't, however want to forget what happened that day.

That's right. I do have a brother. He got adopted right before the incident.

Fae believed Eon. She believed him because she remembered what happened that day.

It was a sad day, but it was also a good day.

So he's alive, huh? He must've avoided the confrontation then.

"So you're my brother then?" She asked him.

The Umbreon nodded with a loopy smile.

"Of course! I came all this way in search of you. I traveled the earth just to find you, Fae." Eon barked.

"Why?" Izar asked him.

Eon turned to her with a slight shocked expression she would question why.

"Heh. I wanted to find her so I could bring her on an adventure. There's so much out there to explore. Plus, it looks like she could use some fresh air."

Izar opened her mouth to argue, but Eon lifted a paw.

"I know what you're going to say, but isn't it about time you let her out of this place? She needs to be given support and opportunity to decide what she wants to do with her life, not you. The world is a strange place. Sure there's villains and bad Pokémon out there, but there's plenty of good Pokémon out there. Look, if she doesn't want to come with me that's up to her, not you."

It's up to me if I want to go? That's an odd thing to say. Mom and Dad have always decided what my life was going to be. I was going to watch over my siblings when they died. I don't know what to think.

Fae then frowned.

But an opportunity to escape this place is what I need. I do want to see the world.

"Yes, I want to explore the world." She barked, her white tail wagging in excitement.

Even if this Umbreon was not her brother, she was given the perfect opportunity to leave.

Thanks a lot, Neri! You kept your promise!
